Virginia Varsity Transfer is a locally-owned company that was founded in 1988 and has since grown to a company of about 50 employees during the peak season. We do not use day laborers, and our employees receive extensive training in moving techniques and how to safely transport your furniture. Virginia Varsity Self Storage, has five locations in the New River Valley that offer secure, convenient, and quality self storage.

Services we offer

Virginia Varsity Transfer offers local and long distance residential and commercial relocation services. Our long distance services have exact day delivery as scheduled with the customer. We also offer packing and unpacking services as well as estate planning and furniture reallocation and discarding. Virginia Varsity Self Storage offers standard and climate controlled storage in a variety of sizes as well as boat and RV parking. All locations sell packing supplies.

The team arrived on time and the lead was very professional. However, the other men joked around a lot and we had several damaged items for which we were never compensated. We did receive a military discount and went with them because we had used them before with great success. We were much more disappointed this time. While they were upbeat, there was some cursing and unprofessional behavior. I hoped for a better experience based on our previous move. We are actually using Angie's List this time to get a quote from multiple users rather than just going back to them. It is a shame because the president came out himself on our first move and even gave us a military discount (my husband served). The service from the first to second move declined significantly.

The move went flawlessly. The young men were very professional, efficient, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed having them. Nothing was broken, and all items were well packed. The move occurred per the schedule. A few things that made me select them, even though they were not our lowest bidder, was their informative website, professional, available, and well organized staff, their moving forms that led to a good estimate with when an on-site walk through was not possible, and adequate staffing. I would recommend them.

I can't say enough great things about this company. They provided caring and professional service at a very difficult time for our family. The young men that moved the furnishings were so careful with every detail. Nothing was broken or misplaced. The price of the service was very competitive especially for the quality provided

Great experience, professional and cut movers at both ends. Schedulers and estimator were from the actual company not a subcontractor and were very professional. This made us comfortable choosing this company. They were also very flexble and accommodating with scheduling and willing to nail down exact dates unlike national companies. They paired us up with other clients to share the cost of the move and keep costs down. Communication was sometimes slow but we were also asking very early so it never got to emergency state.

We LOVE Virginia Varsity and have used them for moving and storage on six separate occasions since January 2013 as we had a very involved corporate relocation after purchasing and moving into a new house in Roanoke. The cost was way better than the company could negotiate with their preferred vendors and everyone in the offices - both moving and storage - were great to work with. The crews have all been awesome, taking great care of our belongings. The guys are friendly, professional, courteous - always asking if they could take a break even though they worked for us for nearly 12 straight hours the last day we used them - and cheerful. Even at the end of a long day they still wanted to make sure I was happy and didn't need anything else rearranged from where they'd put it. On occasions when they've misplaced stuff - like a ceiling fan remote they packed instead of leaving with the house - they've gone above and beyond to get it out of storage and get it back to the realtor to be conveyed with the house. If you can't ask for perfection, at least you can hope things get remedied promptly, and they do that!!
I hope I never have to move again after this last year but if I do, I hope I can use Virginia Varsity. Can't say enough wonderful things about them.

It went great. Three young men showed up at the time designated, moved all of our possessions (including boxes we had packed ourselves) from a second floor apt. in one building to a third floor apt. in another building within the same complex. They worked steady and took a short break but got back to work. Very pleasant but they got down to business. They also took apart and reassembled the bed and baby crib. Will definitely use them for our next move. Highly recommend.

Overall great, but for the price, we did more work that we expected to make pack, move out and move in days end in reasonable time.
Very professional, very pleasant crew for pack and move; they added a guy on the move-in end who was close to worthless -- we found many boxes labeled for another room that he'd just put down at the closest location.
All that being said, they did a great job with no lost items and a minor table leg break. We had a lot of valuable items, so they handled everything very well.
The crew's professionalism and pleasant disposition really made the tough moving experience so much better! We hope to never move again, but have already recommended them to friends!

Virginia Varsity was the only smooth and professional piece of the move! I hired them to move items from two college apartments to two newly leased college apartments. It was to be done in the same day. After loading items from both apartments and arriving at the first new apartment to unload, I noticed that this apartment wreaked of cigarette smoke, to the point that I refused possession of the apartment. While I was negotiating with the apartment complex, the movers were in their moving van contacting the main office to determine if their were storage facilities available and what the cost would be. We were locked out of the second apartment (new roommate was supposed to provide access but she had left town for 4th of July weekend).
My items were not prepped to be put in storage for a month as I assumed I would be completing the move in a day. The movers then took my items to their storage facility, blanked wrapped the items and placed items in storage until I was able to locate a new
apartment to rent and head back to college.
I can't emphasize how professional they were and how they went above and beyond all expectations to assist me when everything that could have possibly gone wrong with the move did. Everyone from the two men who were doing the move to the office staff at both the moving company and the storage facilities were very professional and nice to work with.
I will use them for all future moves!

Arrived early on moving day and the following day for unloading. Had lots of help. Professional and worked fast. We did have a few pieces of furniture damaged and Norm was so helpful and professional to resolve the issue. We received compensation check very quickly.
