It went very well.  An estimate was provided within a day or two of contacting them.  Based on similar work in the past, I felt the price was fair.  The work was done promptly, more promptly than I expected.  The work was done thoroughly, and met our expectations.  We waited a few extra days for the cable to be installed, because they wanted to order and use a thicker cable than the one that had broken after 10 years of service.  He kept us well informed, and listened well to our instructions.

We have had beyond numerous tree removals, because we have had trees fall on our house, we live in the woods and we have all kinds of things going on. They have been satisfactory. The bid that was placed by them, by far, was very reasonable. The work was followed up in good time. They were very professional and skilled. They are a reputable company to our knowledge and so we did not feel that we were getting somebody coming in and say "yes I can take that down for you" and then doing more damage to the property. They came when they said.

I called several tree removal services listed and they all told me my job was too small. When I called Salem Tree Removal the gentleman answered on his cell phone from a job site. I explained I needed two large limbs that had fallen onto my driveway during a snow storm moved to the curb for pick up by the town. After driving by my house the next day I received a call explaining that it would be less cumbersome to have their truck back into the driveway and load the limbs into the chipper. The cost was quoted as the expense to cover the wages of the staff as well as fuel and was more than fair. They came the very next day and there was no evidence at all that any limbs had fallen. I am very impressed with the response as well as speed and professionalism demonstrated by this firm. Especially after being turned down by several others. I highly recommend them.

I called 5 different Tree removal companies in the Roanoke and Salem area to give me estimates. Prices varied from $1200 to $2900 for the removal of 2 trees. One treee was an extremely tall white pine and the other was a large, dead Paradise tree full of vines from the neighboring yard. I actually had 1 service refuse to give me an estimate to take down the tree covered in vines. He said it messed up their saws. Most all of the services were quick to stop by and give estimates although one service complained that they gave a lot of estimates which didn't result in a lot of business. I understand why. Tim of Salem Tree came by the afternoon I called him but told me it might be a week before he could get to the job. After he gave me a written estimate which I did ask for I called him back within 2 days of finalizing all of the estimates to let him know that I selected his company. He said he was going on vacation the following week and would I mind if he did the job on Saturday (day after I called him) before leaving on vacation. I said great and he showed up with crew at 9:00 on Saturday. I ask him for a completition time so I could bring him a check and he said to wait until he got back from vacation to insure that I was completely happy with his work and debris removal. Tim also pointed out that my gutters were full of pine needles and that he would clean those out for me at no charge . I also priced stump grinding separately and ended up having him do that also. His crew was great, very polite whien I stopped by on and off during the day. I met Tim the week after his vacation and paid him for a job very well done. I have had him give me estimates on additional trees and will continue to use and refer him. While he didn't have a copy of his insurance handy he gave me the name of his insurance agent/company and they faxed me the declarations page of his current policy. Both trees were located very close to homes and electrical wires so I wanted to verify all coverage. Tim had heard of Angies List but no one had submitted a report on him. I didn't tell him about Angies List until after the work was completed and am happy to report on him. I hope he continues to offer this type of excellent service and beat other prices in the vicinity.
