Summary:
I was called to the job almost daily for simple questions, they trashed my yard and did terrible, shoddy work. Tried to increase their billing for extra 'rework' when they forgot to do something. I finally told them to get the heck away from my house. Our insurance company no longer allows them to be used. I will never use them ever again.
Details:
I had to continually leave work and come to the jobsite to check on the crew and answer menial questions. The crew size varied between 5 people to 0 day by day. They took almost a week to get the masonite down and another week to put vinyl up.
They left our yard littered with nails, cigarettes and soda bottles. My three year old daughter still finds nails a year later.
When they started putting the vinyl up, I asked when they were going to take down the masonite trim around the windows. I was told it would be done right before they put the vinyl up. When I came back that afternoon, they put the vinyl right up to the rotting masonite trim and said they didn't know that the ROTTING WOOD should come down. Quote, "I really wish you'd told us you wanted that done." Do I really need to tell you to remove all the rotting wood? Really? To top it off, they wanted another thousand dollars for "rework."
We purchased new exterior lights to replace the ones we currently had. They said the lights would be installed the last day. When they were done, they stacked the lights up with a note saying they were the wrong size and it's pretty easy to put up and I shouldn't have any trouble.
While removing the masonite, they used a pry bar along my deck and destroyed some of the wood.
They didn't trim around our front door properly.
I filed complaints with my insurance company and the Paul Davis Restoration is being blocked from doing any more work for our insurance company.
the drywall was nailed up the contractor punctured a pipe, causing a new leak and resulting in the removal of his work and further drying time. The contractor never came when he said he would; not only did he not come at the time he said he would, but not even the day he said he would, and usually he did not call. It took over a week just to get the final coat of paint applied. The
contractor never came when he said he would, and the total job has taken almost a month. The price was more than three times higher than it was the previous time we used this company, and the workmanship was not as good. The job manager was very professional, but it was clear that he was not really monitoring the work being done by his contractors. When informed of the problems we were having, he was very apologetic but the problems continued. We have now been waiting for over a week to have the final painting done, and the contractor called to ask if he could come do it next week when he would "be in the area anyway and it would be more convenient for him." I informed him and his supervisor that I expect it to be done today. We'll see.
