Dryer Vent Wizard of the Blue Ridge

Everything went perfectly. Paul arrived ahead of schedule due to a previous appointment ending early. We discussed what we needed done and he gave us some good ideas. Paul went to work immediately and did not stop until everything was done. New vent with sturdy exhaust pipe fastened to the wall.

Paul showed up on time, had everything he needed, and we let him do his magic, he came up and asked if I’d come out to see my vent, asked me why I put a screen in vent, told him to keep snakes out lol. He told me of a much better newer vent. Mine was over 20 yrs old and the seal was drying out. The new one was much better and Paul showed me how this new design kept things. So, I now have one. After Paul finished he explained my vents were installed backwards, in such a way it made sense! Instead of replacing to pipes he cut out the bad and installed the new and showed me through his camera system no rough edges to catch the lent! The pipe was very clean also! This guy is great, affordable, helpful! I’d use him again and recommend him to anyone!

Dryer Vent Wizard did an excellent job replacing the entire vent with modern code compliant materials. He installed a new exit flap and cleaned the whole system beautifully. He called before arrival, was punctual, was very professional, and explained everything before starting. He was a very nice man and I would be glad to have him return to do regular vent cleanings.

Solved many problem areas... new venting pipe, new outside vent closure,and got more efficient air flow

He found bird's nest in vent tube, and lot of lint in the machine itself, some of which could have been combustible. He spent a nice long time doing the work, meaning it wasn't a rush job.

It went very well. Paul was able to work around our schedules. He provided a quotation, described the work to be performed and then performed it. Very courteous and professional.

Given an hour window that he'd show up in. Called 10 minutes before that expired to let me know he was on his way. Keep in mind it would still require my time while he completed the assessment (which I was told could take around 45 minutes). Removed the vent that led outside my house, inspected everything and told me it would take over $350 dollars to clean and fix everything "to code" and it needed to be done immediately. He insisted I needed this very expensive new hose on my dryer and was going to charge me $50 to climb the ladder to replace the new vent outside my hose. I told him I really couldn't afford all of that at the same time and I would have to get back to him once I made arrangements. He then refused to put the vent back on (offered to put a literal piece of tape on it) and didn't want to bother putting a new one on (that I offered to go ahead and pay for) because he "would just have to take it off again whenever he came back to complete the full cleaning." Before he left he let me know that he's the best in the business and if I called anywhere else they would charge me just as much and it would not be done as well. In a full on panic at this point I called to every place in Charlottesville and had two companies offer to come out that same day to provide me with a quote. Servicemaster was the first. I would have gone ahead with them however DuctMedic called and told me they could have two guys there in 15 minutes, be done before I needed to leave to pick the kids up, and charge me no more than $150 to complete everything. Please get a second opinion before you give this guy any money! I can't believe anyone trusts him!

Awesome! Paul showed up on time, even though our house is in the middle of nowhere and hard to find! He called to say he was coming ahead of time too. He found that someone had improperly put a filter in the dryer vent outlet. He removed that and pulled out at least a foot of compacted dryer lint - I couldn't believe how much lint could fit in such a small space. The outside flapper vent had fins broken off, so he replaced that and then took the back off of our dryer and cleaned that out and reassembled it too. The cost was fair and reasonable and Paul was very kind, knowledgeable and efficient. It was a great experience and we are glad he was able to help us out and explained what we need to do to keep our dryer working properly for years to come. We'd have him back for sure! Thanks Paul!

The service delivered went beyond expectations. Vent line was cleaned thoroughly which made a noticeable difference in the dryer's performance. Additionally, the outside cover/flap was replaced with a more modern, functional part. My technician was extremely professional and courteous. Highly recommend.

Paul Beum is a skilled professional.  Per our request, he replaced the flexible, "bumpy" duct work with a rigid / smooth metal duct because the flex duct created a lot of air friction causing lint to accumulate very quickly. As a result, the dryer had to work harder to push the exhaust out of the house, leading to reduced dryer life. Two other people (general handymen)  had attempted this in years past and neither succeeded. One even told us he would have to rip all of the drywall out to do it, which Paul demonstrated was not the case. Simply put, he has the expertise and tools required to do a job that others were unable to accomplish. After doing this work, our clothes and linens are now drying in a fraction of the time they had before. 

Paul was flexible on timing of the work and was punctual. He even showed us "before" and "after" pictures of each segment of the duct work. I would highly recommend Paul for even the most complex tasks. Don't try to do this stuff yourself, unless you are completely sure you know what you are doing (e.g. you are capable of taking your dryer apart to remove the lint that accumulates on the interior, then putting it back together and re-connecting it to the duct work). It's not worth risking a fire to save a few bucks.

Great, our original dryer vent was on a high steeped roof which was not easily accessible. using the crawl space above our garage he rerouted it to a more accessible place. He took pictures to show us what he did and it was a nice clean job.

showed up as arranged, inspected with me with him, showed me all details, thoroughly explained process, took before and after pictures and made certain I understood what would happen and why. Made me feel confident that the worked was necessary and properly performed. He's coming back and take care of my home and several of my neighbors homes.

Good job.   Second cleaning by Dryer Wizard (last was three years ago).   Very professional.  Checks back annually to see if service is needed, but is not pushy.   In fact, told us based on the current accumulation over the last three years, we probably won't need service again for at least another three.  Based on every encounter, we have the impression of a very honest, trustworthy business. We've passed on the word to our neighbors.

Although there was a miscommunication between Paul and the scheduling center and they doublebooked him, he still made the scheduled appointment time work.  He was very polite and professional.  He was also very neat and took his shoes off while in the house.  There is a fee for the cleaning (for the length of our duct it was $150) as well as a service fee of $49.  Paul explained their service plan option (buy the plan for a bit more than the service fee but the fee is then waived) which apparently is good forever as well as the option to clean the interior of the dryer for an additional fee.  I asked him to begin the duct cleaning while I thought about those options.  After cleaning the duct and based on the relatively small amount of lint he found, he recommended that we not purchase the service plan or the interior dryer cleaning.  Basically, his opinion was that if that was all the lint that was in the duct after eight years, the dryer interior likely did not have that much accumulation and the service plan didn't make sense for us.  I really appreciated his honesty and that he did not try to sell us things we didn't need.

Service was very prompt. Paul was on time and very personable. He explained clearly and concisely what he wanted to do and why. The plan met with our expectations. We felt the price was quite reasonable for the service rendered. We were concerned about the safety of our dryer venting system prior to the service and are quite happy with the result.
