They were very responsive to my initial call. Arrived at my house within a couple of hours of my call. Once here discovered they did not have the necessary equipment. Left to get needed equipment and returned. Dug some holes in my yard and eventually discovered the cause of the problem. Stated would need to get county inspector to approve proposed fix. I paid them $435 for work done that day. Next week inspector arrived and indicated proposed fix was not allowed. During subsequent phone call was told plumber would talk with another contractor and get back withy me on best way to proceed. Nothing has been done in the 3-4 weeks since. Called and left numerous messages during that time. Received only one return call. Was told he would be getting with 2nd contractor and scheduling date to get back to my job. After 2 more weeks, no calls, and unreturned voice mail messages, I have contacted another plumber to finish the job.



People were very pleasant and presented a business like image when they first responded. I was very surprised at their total lack of follow through.

I used Hawthorne’s Plumbing in 2012, but have been requested numerous times by Angie’s List to submit a rating. I signed up for an Angie’s List Great Deal to have them video the sewer line connecting my property to the street, and up to 1 hour of cleaning out the line. My line was looked at about 5 years prior, and had a single large root that required some “Roto Rooting.” I assumed that the root might have come back, so signed up for the Deal. I have no complaints about the service, and the workmen were very professional, but it turned out that the line was perfectly clean, and did not need any service. There was no rebate. I should have had the City come out, because their price is about and frac12;, but as I said, I just assumed the root was back and the line would require some maintainance. The City guys had recommended a toxic chemical called Roebic Root Killer to flush through the line periodically and prevent root growth. I used it less of it, and less frequently than recommended, but it might be the reason there were no roots.
The reason for the and quot;Not use againand quot; rating is that I have another plumber, who I like, and has lower fees. Hawthorne's is a large company with a lot more overhead, thus must charge more.

They were timely and the price was right.

Initially there was some mixup on setting up the appointment. The plumber who arrived was knowledgeable and competent.

They showed up on time, very personably and professional. They got right to work and the repairs and replacements were completed in under two hours. Cleaned up after themselves. Work was excellent with no call-backs and all performs well to this day.

They were very good. They were punctual and professional. I would use their services again and would recommend them to others.

Very well, they were very courteous and professional. They explained some things that we did not understand, and made some suggestions.

Everything went fine. They worked for a time with the snake trying to unclog the kitchen sink. They finally went into the basement and looked at the pipes. Eventually they were able to unclog the sink, which is what I needed them to do. They worked hard, were professional and got the job done!

BE SURE TO READ ENTIRE REPORT.  I had purchased two certificates to have the parts replaced in the back of two toilets. ($99 each)  Called on 5/7.  Got answering service & left message stating I wanted to set up app't.  Mr. Hawthorne returned my call within minutes, & we set up app't for next day.  (Note that he quickly returned the call when it meant money in his pocket.)  Two plumbers (one being his father) arrived on time the next day.  They replaced some, but not all of the toilet parts. (The certificates led me to believe that all the parts would be replaced.)  They thought they had the pipe needed for the sink, but had forgotten to restock the truck, so they had to leave to go to the plumbing supply house.  (I think they charged for the time it took them to go to get the part!)  (They charged an add'l $90 labor + $70 for the pipe = add'l. $160)  There was some add'l work I needed done, but they told me the work was not something a plumber would do.  They told me they would tell Mr. Hawthorne what I needed done--that he worked with the type of folks I needed--and that he would call me with a referral.
THREE DAYS LATER I HAD NOT HEARD FROM MR. HAWTHORNE.  I called his personal cell phone and left a message on his voice mail.  ANOTHER THREE DAYS WENT BY, AND I STILL HAD NOT HEARD FROM HIM.  I called his business phone and left a message with his answering service.  ANOTHER THREE DAYS HAS GONE BY, AND I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM.  I guess a referral will not put money in his pocket, and he already has my $358.00.
I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN.  Nine days, two messages, and no returned phone call.  I imagine that this is how he would handle a call if a customer had a problem with work he had done.

I was impressed by the fact that they were able to squeeze me into their schedule and come out the next day. Even though I told Hawthorne himself that I was the first house on the driveway, they still went to my neighbor's house. Nonetheless, they looked at my shower head pipe and opened up the access panel under the house to see where the leak was coming from. They tested the shower while under the house to see where the water was coming from and found that it was running along the faucet and behind the bathtub through a space between the faucet and the tub. They explained to me the problem and said they had no silicone to seal the space between the faucet and the tub. I told them I would take care of sealing the gap since they didn't have any silicone. They closed up the access panel under the house, though one screw was missing.
When I showed them the other bathroom shower and explained it was leaking and I thought it was a bad valve, they said they would need to cut the pipes in order to fix it and that it would be a costly job. They said since the handle was not aligned right after I replaced it a year ago, I may have bent the pipes, causing them to have to cut them out. I decided it wasn't worth the money to fix.
After only about 15 minutes, they were gone, and I was left with nothing fixed.
I later called another plumber and got a second opinion on the bad valve, which I was told was a simple fix, with no need for pipes being cut. They fixed it in a matter of minutes and applied silicone in the other bathroom.

The company was responsive to my phone calls and it was easy to set up an inspection date. The arrival was timely. He checked my bathroom and kitchen. He could not access the water heater, so that was not checked. I asked him some questions about plumbing and water that he answered without hesitation.

The main reason I purchased the Big Deal for this was because I had a problem with the cold water in my washing machine. I explained to him what had been happening and the first thing he suggested, a dirty filter on the cold water hose, was the correct diagnosis. (i didn't know the hoses had filters, but now I do!) He cleaned it off and the problem was resolved.

He was timely, efficient, and correct.

I was fine with the price and pleased with the service I received.

I would certainly call this company first if I had a need for the types of services they offer.

I had a substantial blockage in the drain in my laundry room. Each time I had to do a load of laundry very, very dirty water would back up onto the floor.
I took advantage of a special offered through Angie's List and, after checking out other reviews for Hawthorne, called Monday (2/6) and made an appointment. They (Dwight and Willie) arrived on time and after almost 2 hours and 70 feet of snake, the blockage was cleared.
I can't say enough about the friendliness and professionalism of both gentlemen. I was hugely impressed and am so pleased with the results of their work.
Hawthorne Plumbing is now my plumbing company. I will not be dealing with anyone else.

Inspection went fine.

It worked out just like the owner said.

The installers were right on time.

They only charged one hour of work.

It took them awhile to bill me, but hey, I didn't mind.

I would HIGHLY RECOMMMEND THESE GUYS AGAIN!!

I could not believe how responsive the owner was and was SO IMPRESSED with how he looked out for me!!

This company was professional in all of its dealings with this problem of a blocked drain for water runoff. They had the modern technology to locate the blockage easily; they knew exactly what to do to replace the pipes with the minimum expense and disruption to the lawn. They were efficient and completed the work right before the first snowstorm as if they knew it had to get done as soon as possible. They also cleaned the septic tank at our request as an additional job. We were really lucky to find this company.
