Coastline Builders Of Virginia

We are not sure what these other positive posts are referring to, a BIG warning against using this
contractor! We needed a Class A General Contractor to manage our renovation/construction
project, and selected Coastline Builders of Virginia. The owner Reynolds Cowardin seemed qualified, and came with a recommendation from B&W Builders.  We started to notice problems when Mr. Cowardin was not showing up to work, and began falling seriously behind on our project. There were problems with money being misused, and we were told by him on several occasions that he had completed parts of our project fully, when things were left half done, or were skipped all together. Some things that his company did, and tried to cover up would have caused damage to the structure of our home, and we would not have found out until he was long gone. After his wasteful use of our supplies, and horrible mismanagement of our project, there were a lot of things that we ended up doing ourselves to keep the project going, such as getting permits, and managing
contractors, etc.  We eventually had to fire Reynolds Cowardin due to his continous failure to show up to the job site/work! Despite
numerous warnings, he only came on rainy days when he could not work elsewhere. In addition to not being present to supervise contractors, or do the other work he was hired to do, we had a draw process in order to continue getting money from our bank. Even though Mr. Cowardin represented that work had been completed along the way, there were four pages of code defects, and
incomplete work found when the project was inspected by the county we live in. A very
substantial cost in time and money to us! We are a young family with two small children, and were displaced from our home for close to a year because of this dishonest contractor. We came close to losing our shirts in this project. In our opinion, Reynolds is
lazy, irresponsible, dishonest, and dangerous!  We certainly would NOT recommend you
use this contractor. We would even say the opposite and issue a serious warning against using this contractor, because he showed us through his actions that he did not care if his "short-cuts" could have hurt our babies!!! On a positive note, we found a great contractor to complete the job, and her company did in three months what Coastline Builders could not do in a year! Please see our review of Coastal Contracting (similar name but light years apart)!!!

very professional company. generally very good about communicating. completed project within the original time frame and did good work. helped us also sort out/repair some other related issues with our house. we would definitely use this company again.

Coastline completed the entire job within two weeks and we're very pleased with it. They were very professional, cleaned up well after themselves and did everything just the way we wanted it.
