Amazingly well. Hope was very patient and kind. She was able to work with both of my dogs and myself to truly improve our lives. We are still working with her and I am looking forward to learning more techniques.

The training is very intensive. No time is wasted. The trainers are very responsive to individual dogs. Ms Hope focuses on each dog's needs in a class and makes personal recommendations to owners. For a rescue dog, this help with training was essential.

She is awesome. Her name is Hope Cogan. I think her prices do fluctuate. She does give me a little discount because she is also in dog rescue and the dogs that she keeps with me is a forever foster in our home. In the dog training she teaches you some of the basic commands to sit, come, stay and leave. She goes in depth about the appropriate way to walk you dog, to get your dog's attention, to work on an award system instead of a negative system. She is a very positive trainer. She teaches you basically how to make your dog part of the family. She is very soft spoken, very low key, she gets the dog's attention immediately. I definitely will and do use her again.

We found Hope doing a web search for dog trainers on the internet. I contacted her by e-mail and within a day I had an e-mail response from Amanda, Hope's office assistant. We filled out some paperwork and set-up an appointment. We've used Hope for about 10 private lessons over the course of about 5 months, having lessons every two weeks. Hope is very knowledgeable and great with our dog. She was very encouraging and patient as she taught us how to respond to and train our Labrador Retreiver. In addition to private lessons Hope offers various group lessons. We choice private initially so that we could get some individual training since we want to move our dog to therapy work eventually and we wanted a good start. I would highly recommend Hope to anyone interested in any type of training, from the basics to more advanced training.

In August 2010, I adopted a rescued Boxer who had issues with dominance, leash reactivity (to dogs, people, runners, bicyclists) and dog-dog aggression. Hope took a holistic approach to dog training. At our first visit/consultation, we discussed diet, medical history, my dog's personal history prior to adoption and her behavior in specific situations. Hope also talked to me about animal behavior and signals my dog (Emma) was giving that were early warning signs that she was anxious/stressed. Together we made a training plan for Emma that began by establishing leadership and routine in the home and then transitioning those skills to the specific situations where Emma had the most difficulty. Hope arrived on time for each lesson, used positive training methods, and was very clear in teaching training techniques. She explained the technique first, then demonstrated it with my dog, then had me practice the technique, providing feedback throughout the training session. In addition to training, it was Hope who suggested I bring Emma to my vet to have a full exam to rule out any medical conditions causing her reactivity and dog-dog aggression. My vet diagnosed Emma with hypothyroidism, which is a common cause of reactivity and aggression in dogs. With the combination of treating the hypothyroidism and consistent behavioral training with Hope, Emma is now a perfect leash walker. Her dominance and dog-dog aggression has improved so remarkably that I have been able to foster other Boxers in my home without problem and Emma is now enjoying 'playdates' with other doggie friends--something I never thought was possible. Bottom line: I would recommend Hope Cogen with High Hopes Dog Training without hesitation to anyone with a pet!
