The install went very smoothly. They were able to work with an afternoon appointment. The system does have a great warranty that exceeds their competiors. They offer "green" products to come free for a year of more if we made the purchase in a timely basis. These products (we are told) are designed to work well with the system. Soaps, detergents, etc. In addition to that, if we move into another property in the future, the company will remove the system from the immediate property and re-install it into the new property. These are good things to consider.
But, we hesitated on going through with the purchase of the system because of the cost. It IS expensive. But, the company has a working relationship and a working partnership with the Home Depot. The saleman was able to contact the Home Depot manager and worked out a 24 month credit card payment plan. If we pay it off under 24 months, we pay no interest. That, we could do. Kudos to the salesman for working that out for us.
The installer was professional. It was only a weak turnaround. In addition to installing the new system; he emptied the hot water heater. The company provided 250 lbs of salt. The installer ran a dedicated line to provide untreated water for any particular trees or plants outside of the house. He also kept a pipe in that immediate area in case we ever wanted to return that line back into a treated water source. He removed all of the old system and kept the area where he worked clean as he found it. The company says they will return in 30 days to test the water and also empty the hot water tank a final time.
UPDATE AS OF 7-1-2013
As I said in the previous comments, the salesman said he would return in 30 days to test the water and empty the hot water tank. He called and left a message on 3-19-13 @1622 hrs and again on 3-25-13 @ 1903 hrs. At that time we were busy making arrangements and driving out of town (for several weeks) for an immediate family member who was dying of Leukemia. The last thing we were thinking about or on our minds was the water treatment system. Thus, we were not able to return his calls right away. We were hoping he would call again or send a card or letter in the mail to remind us of the follow-up. We have never heard from the salesman again. This was a very expensive system, and I dont think it would hurt for him to make the extra effort to make calls to us until he made contact with us and heard a voice. After all, it was a part of the deal that he would re-test the water and empty the water heater. Thus, he did not meet his end of the deal. Yes, I could call him now, but I wasn't the one who offered him an expensive product, telling him I would return in 30 days. Leave 2 messages and then forget we were customers. I'll bet if we owed him some money, he would not stop trying to contact us. With most contractors in the Roanoke Valley, this "customer service" attitude seems to be the norm from both my experience, and others I have talked to.
