Interior Painting
13 days after completion of this bath renovation a significant leak occurred and repairs to damaged kitchen ceiling, closet wall
and closet wood flooring were only partially repaired by the contractor. Without my agreement he decided I should apply
a small outstanding amount owed to him to the repair. The contractor was invited back to view floor damage in the closet resulting from the leak and declined. This required my locating and managing a flooring contractor and a new wall board repair and paint
contractor. My personal time was required to identify and manage new contractors at some additional expense. To repair this leak, the master closet wall needed to have a hole cut in it. Prior to the leak occurring, the same closet wall was cut into to repair a pipe which was part of finished work. A temporary shower arm had been over tightened and the closet wall was cut into to access
the pipes. This was repaired and cut into a second time. We could not use the master bedroom closet for weeks.
Job completion was estimated at approximately one month. Even allowing for contractor illness and a few days of added work, (and paid for), the actual two month completion was long. Planning for timely availability of supplies and tools seemed insufficient. For example, the contractor did not order tile and grout when required so that delays occurred due to a wait for materials. Although some Saturdays were worked, on multiple weeks the crew worked only four days. Contractor/owner was typically not onsite and did not work this job until the last day. It appeared insufficient on site presence may have led to further
delays. To his credit, the contractor made a small accommodation for the delay.
Invoices were consistently inaccurate causing additional review and complaints of delayed payment. Contractor asked for additional money for epoxy grout when it was written into the agreement. To his credit contractor/owner typically agreed following a reading of the agreement. This took more time to manage than appropriate.
Debris was not removed daily from inside the bathroom as agreed to. In addition, bath area was not swept daily so worker?s movements resulted in more dust and debris being carried through the house than necessary. Although craft paper was placed on wood floors, multiple careless tool and material drops left a number of minor indentations which floor contractor says can?t be repaired without replacement. Contractor touched up numerous wall dings and scratches. Small accommodation was made
by contractor for floor dents.
Shower fixtures were not correctly aligned on vertical axis. Pipe noise evident when turning on shower.
Communication often was questionable as contractor/owner often did not completely read emails before responding.
I invested many hours of effort choosing customer supplied material, and communicating choices and documentation in advance to be certain the choices would work. No issues surfaced in this area.
To sum up, nice people, tried hard. Small accommodations did not make up for the overall inconvenience. I found multiple
occasions where I identified a problem and asked for it to be addresses and most times the contractor did take action.
Would have preferred a more professional approach.

I thought their pricing was really excellent and very reasonable. They did a very good job and did it fast since there was a buyer wanting to settle in. They did the job for the exact price they said they would do it for. They thing which impressed me the most was that the lights which did not work for years were fixed in half an hour. I was also impressed with their promptness and how they did exactly what they said they were going to do. Their owner is one of the guys who performs the work and therefore I have to wait a while for him to get back to me when I leave a message. The end result was very professional and so was the process. I would use them again in the future.
