The vet there stated that only problem was allergy to his food and skin allergies. Spent approx $200.00 for visits and medications. My dog started to bleed from his nose. I was working as a substitute teacher and asked my son to take him in. He arrived early that morning and my poor dog was bleeding on their floors. The Extremely rude receptionist said in a loud and demanding voice that they see no animals regardless or reason without prior appointment. My son said she then all but screamed at him to get our dog out. I had my son take him to the Vinton Vet who after exam immediately diagnosed him with Leukemia. He was dead by the next week. Vinton stated that treatment was too late to help him survive. Maybe had I seen a real vet he would have lived longer and in more peace. I wrote a letter to the Board of Assisi about my treatment, they never even bothered to answer my letter. My experience was sad their treatment was deplorable and their staff incompetent.

It is an animal shelter that provides veterinary care like shots and dental cleaning. They do other things to like kind of basic services that a person needs to keep their animal healthy. I don't think they do things that might be considered elective or highly technical like ultrasound and so on. They don't have the equipment and all that stuff needs it. They decide if an extraction is needed when they are cleaning and we give them consent to that decision. A basic dental cleaning will cost around $75 to $100, and it is small charges for a dental, and extra if I get tooth extraction, which is something like $115 per tooth. They will give me some pre or post medicine and then I get charged, just slightly more than their expenses. Dental cleanings are usually more complex than a basic fee and so, I may end up spending anywhere from $75 to $150 per animal, and a lot gets done for that. They are wonderful. I have had no difficulty with their care. It is a non-profit organization and it takes a longer to get in, and even to get a call back. If I took an animal in that was on the street and was injured, they would take care of it right away, but with my animals, I kind of have to wait.

The puppy received was healthy and recovered quickly from the spaying. I have no complaints about the care she received from them.

It is a no kill shelter. The pet care was excellent. I would use them again.
