STARVING STUDENTS INC

Hired to move one bedroom apartment from one building to next door. Couldn't even bother to show up on time. Not 15 minutes late, more like 5. Ridiculous.

Horrible. They arrived almost on time and that is only almost good thing that happened. They only sent two guys for a 3 person job. The foreman complained about us having too much stuff, reminded me 3 times that they accepted tips, threw stuff down the stairs, actually brought stuff into the house from the truck that wasn't ours (no idea who lost their paintings!), stacked the truck so badly that a whole set of boxes with fragile items toppled, put one of the beds back together wrong and it broke the next day by splitting the wood where the screws were done incorrectly, took many breaks while the other guy worked, and so on. The foreman actually wanted to leave some of the boxes outside at the house because it was "taking too long". He was rude and acted like he wanted to be anywhere else. We provided lunch and drinks throughout the day for them and one of the guys was very respectful and diligent but the foreman complained that it was "only McDonalds". We actually all started helping carry things in and take them to rooms in assembly line fashion because we just wanted the truck unpacked and them gone. He asked again for a tip at the end of the night. I would have not given anything but the other guy worked hard so I wanted to reward him. It was the worst moving company experience I have ever had. They were of average pricing but very, very poor service and even poorer results. We are still finding wall scratches, broken items, and so forth.

I was very pregnant at the time, so was unable to help out very much. The foreman seemed like he knew what he was doing but he had to hand-feed the other 2 guys information every step of the way. They had no idea what was going on. They weren't in very good shape and took many breaks. I was very nice about all of this and would have let it go if they hadn't damaged so many large pieces of furniture. They broke a very expensive fold-away couch bed by unfolding it to remove the mattress and then forcing it closed again incorrectly. I didn't notice until I went to use it that evening. The metal pieces were actually bent! They also damaged an expensive leather chair by scratching/tearing the leather along the side. I wouldn't recommend them.

We hired them because of the low cost, but this may have been a mistake. They only had three guys to do the job and one of them was so small he could not carry anything heavy. They dropped our washing machine down the front steps and almost dropped an antique dresser in the exact same spot. I ended up taking the smaller man's place and did his job for him. This is not what I hired them for.

I'll never use them again, because they damaged a lot of our furniture. It was raining and they had a leak in their truck and left the furniture in the truck where it got wet. They were careless and couldn't handle the job. It was a horrible experience and we learned our lesson. I would not recommend them to anyone.

We used Starving Students only to help us load and unload all our belongings, not to pack. It took them about two hours total and they did a good job. They protected all our belongings carefully and we had no breakages.

When we moved across town, to save money, we moved all the small things ourselves and had Starving Students move all the big things. I'd say they did an exceptional job because nothing was broken; they didn't make any messes and they were on time.
