Really ? I am not being paid to write this review, I am just that happy with this contractor, John Simpson of Simpson?s Home Improvements. From the beginning of the process to the end, John is attentive to his customer. I found that he responds in a timely manner to phone calls and emails. John was prompt in showing up for the initial meeting and took his time to walk thru the different projects I had in mind taking notes and measurements. Simpson?s estimates were reasonable, neither the most nor least costly based on the other estimates I received, and at the end of my various projects I felt that I received more than my money?s worth. John is also good at project management, laying out the day?s work objectives. I was happy to see that he gave his crew a chance to learn new skills (i.e. grouting tile) but under his supervision. John also has a great crew working for him. Despite my inability to describe what I wanted, the crew came up with the right solution/look when replacing my landscape timbers.
I had to wait almost two months because of his very busy schedule, and the work itelf took almost 4 weeks, but it was worth the wait. I was very pleased with everything. Bottom line ? I would hire Simpson?s Home Improvement again.
The fact that he returns phone calls, shows up for the estimate when he says he will, shows up for the job and then completes it correctly and cleans up after himself is huge. Too many contractors either don't call back or don't bother showing up.
We were very pleased with his work ethic and will use him again.
The contractor was on site for about 7 days. I have always been very hesitant about hiring contractors especially for this large project ( kitchen remodel) as I'm always fearful they will skip steps here and there. As you can see in what I put into the what did the provider do field it was very detailed on what Johns company did for us.
First off let me say John and his 2 employees were very friendly, kind and professional.
The first impression my wife and I got after them being here for 2 days was how thorough they were. They spent 2 full days on prepping the entire kitchen ( removing old wall paper, fixing holes, priming, sanding, priming again, sanding again walls and cabinets). Once the painting started they were as thorough in it as they were with the prepping. I have seen allot of painters in my time but the painter John had on is team was one of the best I have ever seen. His attention to detail was evident in his work and you could tell he had pride in his work as he did a phenomenal job in the painting of the kitchen and the cabinets. He used multiple coats ( always 2 or more) on everything that was painted, even the primer was 2 coats on everything.
We had new cabinet doors made from another company that John deals with and they also turned out great. John and his team painted our old cabinets to match the color of the paint on the new cabinet doors and drawers we had made.
One of the other major items we had John and his team do was remove our old counter top and put in a new one that we had made. Right from the start of taking the old one off we could tell that more work was needed than first thought as some of the wood had broken and some was rotten. John never complained, never asked for any additional money, he just went about and did an awesome job fixing the wood for us, adding additional edging and fixing things here and there to make it look professional. They really did allot of extra work on that countertop replacement and never once asked for any additional money. That's a great credit upon his company and his professionalism.
In the end, this was by far the best contractor experience I have ever had, they did a phenomenal job, did allot of extra little things here and there to really show they took pride in what they did. We were extremely please with the outcome of our new kitchen.
John came by on Wednseday evening to get some drywall work done so that he and his crew could get started immediately on Thursday morning. They worked Thursday and Friday. Each day, we came home to clean rooms that were vacuumed and neat.
On Friday, after the work was done, we found a spot that had not been sanded. We called John, and he came by on Saturday, repaired and repainted the spot and vacuumed before he left. It took about 30 minutes and looks perfect.
John and his crew worked quietly and cleanly. Everything looks fantastic. We live in a bungalow built in 1927, so we have no straight lines and corners left, but the paintwork looks even and clean. All of the repair work is smooth, and we had no hassles from John at all. He came when he said he would, did the work in a timely manner, cleaned up after himself, and was pleasent to be around. He even loved on our three (heathen) dogs and didn't mind when the cats came to "help."
We have been looking for a general home improvement guy, and John is our man now. Though his estimate was a bit more than we expected, he did pull this job off for us in a really short amount of time, and the quality and ease was worth the money. Besides, a dependable, responsible, neat contractor is worth the money, and you can't go wrong with Simpson's. We will be using him for the work we are doing in the next month to get our house ready for sale, and feel confident that the house will look fantastic and will be finished when promised.
I called John (it was near to Christmas) and of course being Christmas John had plenty to do...not only professionally but personally. I didn't expect him to do anything until after the Holidays.
He said he would get in touch with me after the Holidays and swing by and fix this problems. I have been waiting for his call.
If you read any of these please call me John...I want you to be the one guy I've know that actually is a man of his word.
Thanks, Jill
They are just honest, hard working guys...with a need to vacuum and clean after themselves (oh, they also moved the large pieces of furniture I couldn't...no charge). This time I had them basically redo the bedroom. Zipping it up with some crown and doing some essential patchwork on the old walls that are cracking and showing nail heads. The paint job is so beautifully done. I picked two colors for the walls and the "cut in" work is just perfect. I have no question that I'm in safe hands and I come and go at will when they're here. From my experiences with Simpson's Home Improvements, I don't have any worries about who to call when I need some work. I can't wait till we do my next project. Oh, BTW...these guys are great...they hung my drapes back up and fixed a loose faucet just 'cause...that's the way they roll!
Don't hesitate to call Simpson's...you'll be very pleased with their work and them!
