Lane Homes & Remodeling Inc
About us
Who we are and what we do** Lane Homes & Remodeling Inc was founded by Ed and Catherine Lane in 1984 as a design/build remodeling company. We provide in-house design and construction services for additions, kitchens, baths, outdoor living spaces, basements/attics and other special projects. We also offer the Lane Homes Care & Repair division that deals with smaller projects, preventative maintenance and repairs, i.e. windows and siding, repairs or replacement, etc. ----- Design/Build : 5 Reasons to choose design/build: 1. You have a single point of contact. You do not need to hire both an architect and a builder. with lane's design/build process, your project is in the hands of a team of professionals all working together as a single entity. 2. You are a part of your design team. You do not need to serve as an intermediary between an architect and builder. instead, with lane's design/build process you will be actively involved in team discussions right from the very beginning stages. 3. The design meets your budget. You do not have to send your design out to bid and then find out it cannot be built within your budget. With design/build the lane team is able to provide accurate pricing at the start of the process. 4. Design/build saves you money. As a builder, lane has knowledge of the construction techniques and materials that will provide you the most cost effective, maintenance-free, energy saving solution for your project. this knowledge influences the design of your project from the outset. 5. Design/build saves time. the design/build system can allow lane to procure materials and equipment and to begin construction even before the final plans are complete. therefore, your project may be completed more quickly. ----- care & repair: our professional team will perform an on site visual inspection of the interior and exterior of your home. We will then create a detailed home repair and preventative maintenance report that packages all of the work into one estimate. When you’re ready for the work to begin, our care & repair team will take care of the rest. Once work begins, we keep open communication throughout the process and provide timely care and attention to all of your needs. Additional email - [email protected].

Alex Van Nuys headed the design phase and really listened to my ideas and preferences. She was very patient as she helped me choose cabinets, appliances, paint, hardware, and tile. She understood that with our open floor plan the
new components had to compliment several existing spaces, and the final result achieves that goal beautifully. I really
appreciated having the computer generated renderings to get a better feel for how our ideas would look before construction started. I think that helped ensure that we were all on the same page before construction began.
As we moved to construction, Tom Homer, took the reins of the project. We had a very tight timeline for the installation and he kept everything right on track. Each project will have a problem or two. When we had a couple of logistical issues pop
up, he worked calmly and got them resolved very quickly, keeping me informed each step of the way. He was managing
several projects simultaneously with mine, but I never felt like he didn?t have time for my questions or that my project was not as important as any of the others he was watching over.
Ron Burns was here each day making sure that all of the little details required to keep things on track were addressed. He
was extremely considerate at each step, always finding ways to accomplish the tasks required with minimal disruption or discomfort for me and my family (including my two beagles). We painted the lower cabinets, and he devised a temporary venting system to reduce the fumes in the house while it was drying. He also made sure that things were done
right and to my satisfaction, no matter how many trips to Lowes or the paint store it took.
Each person from Lane Homes and Remodeling was professional and courteous while they were working in my home. In addition, each specialty contractor required for the job was outstanding. Robin Davis delivered new custom cabinets
that were exactly what I had envisioned and are made to last. Sean Peters did an amazing job on our tile. It was so nice that each person wanted to make sure that I was completely happy and that I didn?t have to settle for ?good enough?.
A design was presented, then tweaked several times. A price, work schedule, and payment schedule was presented, and then the work began in January of 2008. For the most part, everyone was very professional, and the work was completed close to schedule, with just normal delays.
There were a few minor things, that I did an issue with. But, even after 6 years, Edward Lane Jr. took care of the issues. Edward Lane Jr. has always been nothing less than a gentleman, and professional businessman, with a desire to please the customer.
"I was caught in a state of wonderment after reading this report filed with Angle’s List by the members on a job we had completed in the spring of 2001, over 10 years ago. It is not at all an accurate description of Lane Homes & Remodeling, our employees or the work that we perform. Our corporate culture is one in which everyone in our company puts “service above self”. We provide our client with creative designs, fair value added pricing, efficient and timely construction, and a friendly respectful experience. This is not to say that we don’t make mistakes from time to time. We do …and we are happy to resolve those issues quickly. I appreciate the feed back we get from our clients …from the members. It has helped us to become a better company. I called the members and went by to meet them and to review the work that we had done. I found the members to be very friendly and cordial; not at all kin to the visceral comments they made about our company and employees. I suspect they were flexing their internet muscle having joined Angie’s List. I inspected the project, on a number of occasions, and talked with the members in length about the problems they were having. Water was coming in under the garage door which is the result of reusing the old carport concrete floor that had always sloped in from the driveway. Repaving only exacerbated the problem. The leaking in the back wall, which was never meant to be water proof, was the result of the gutters being clogged with leaves and spilling over; also, subsequently a patio had been built trapping the water between the main house and the carport/garage. Proper drainage had not been maintained. The existing flat roof, which was not part of our original construction, was in need of immediate repairs and was being improperly used as an outdoor walk-over to an attic room. I witnessed water leaking into the carport/garage through the improperly maintained roof. The mistake that we made was in design, trying to turn an old carport into a garage. It was never going to look and act like a garage built from the ground-up. We should never have agreed to build it. It was not in keeping with the kind of work we typically do. Mr. member said it was not in their budget, at the time, to build a new garage as we had suggested. We built exactly what they asked us to build by their approval of the design, specifications, and price. They paid for their project in full and we never were notified that they were dissatisfied with the project …until recently. As a good faith gesture, our design department has designed for the members, free of charge, a story and a half free-standing two car garage with a finished room above complete with full bath, wet bar, closet, office space, and stair case. They now have a beautiful set of plans and renderings showing all the finishes. Lane Homes & Remodeling, Inc. wishes the members the very best, and we hope they will build and enjoy their new garage for many years."
