This was an initial consultation. An actual illustrated design with plant recommendations is a separate service. I have every confidence that we will be delighted to receive this design, when the time comes.
Monit coordinated with the landscape company who did the installation of the project (separate quote with the landscapers) and everything turned out great! This took a lot of potential stress off of us, as we are fairly new homeowners and are not too handy or knowledgeable about plants. Some things that had to be altered along the way were done with no impact. We are very carefree and were open to all of Monit's suggestions, as she was to our's. She is very creative and has great vision. She also was able to explain her vision in an easy to understand manner, and the design she drew was just great.
Please check out her website and view her gallery -- she was amazing to work with and can't say enough good things.
"[member name removed], My email record shows I did followup with you after our initial conversation. Perhaps there is a disconnect with email. I just saw on Angie's List than you reviewed me. I would like to remedy that review. If I can in anyway help you with your landscaping please let me know. Thanks, Monit"
Based on my initial meeting with Monit, I've started working on a few landscaping projects. Her guidance and specialized knowledge has been invaluable. I plan on contacting her again once I'm ready for my next set of landscape tasks. I personally like to be a bit more hands on than most, but it's also nice to know that Monit has access to folks who can help with all the demanding, unglamorous gardening work (that I happen to enjoy, for now). And when I went to Glen Allen Nursery for all my new perennials, the person assisting me saw my list from Monit and commented on how great she is -- I couldn't agree more.
Monit began the process by having us complete a very detailed questionnaire regarding our softscape and hardscape likes and dislikes and personal information, such as favorite seasons, favorite plants and flowers, favorite color schemes, etc. Once she had a chance to review the information from the questionnaire, Monit scheduled a consult appointment at our home to obtain a copy of the official property survey, to ask us questions, to measure the property, and to quick-sketch the property with possible planting beds during our joint walk-around. At the conclusion of this visit, it was also determined that we were interested in the next step, a very detailed professional landscape design, which indicates, in an architectural drawing, the location and size of all planting beds, as well as the name of and number of individual plants included in each planting bed. We received a draft of her plan, and then, after a couple discussions and adjustments, we received final copies of the landscape design.
As our property has extensive county and utility easements, as well as a lot of underground utility lines crossing the property, the design process had its challenges, warranting additional short site visits by Monit to confirm measurements and plant choices. Combined with her friendly professionalism, Monit's extensive knowledge and experience with plant choices appropriate to our climate, soil, and light conditions, as well as her creativity with color and inclusion of my favorite flower and tree, made Gardens by Monit an excellent choice for our landscape design and project. We will not hesitate to consult with her again for future outdoor plans.
