Scheduled a consultation to have ducts replaced for 12:00 pm. I currently don’t have working heat in my downstairs. I setup my work day around this consultation. I received a call at 11:45–15 minutes before the scheduled time- from Callie, a residential consultant for the company, stating they don’t do ductwork in winter and that he wasn’t coming out. When I asked why didn’t he call me earlier in the day, he said he didn’t know until 15 minutes beforehand. Unreliable, disorganized, unprofessional.

Was charged $623 to replace a capicator. I wasn't familiar with the pricing for HVAC parts but the part sounded familiar. After I paid and the techs left, I called my sister who had just had her HVAC serviced and she confirmed that the capicator was the same part she had replaced a couple weeks ago at her house...for $150, which included a $100 fee for the tech to come out. I paid $99 for the tech to come out so $524 for the capicator itself. The techs were very friendly but I guess they have to be to keep things moving. Scamming isn't even the word!! My sister used ******* Heating and Air LLC

Lost A/C late on Saturday afternoon in 100 degree weather Called Eveready Service Experts who promptly sent a technician who arrived promptly and was accompanied by a second person This second person turned out to be a salesman who, after the technician had checked out the a/c unit, came inside to inform me that the compressor had been severely overheated and was "probably shot". Also, he made a big point about the age of the unit and said that they could no longer obtain R22 refrigerant which is required by the system. The condensate pan was also full of water. He proposed to install a replacement unit which would consist of a new gas fired furnace, a new AC unit, a new thermostat and a new shared air handler. The price quoted was somewhat over $15,000. I agreed, not having any idea what the market value of the proposed work was. I paid the service fee of $81.60 and they left, planning a Tuesday installation. I immediately called a friend and a family member who I knew had replaced units in recent years and asked for their opinion of the quoted price, in each case the response was outrage. Convinced that I was about to be greatly overcharged, I called Eveready Service Experts and cancelled the installation. Early Monday, morning after suffering through a very uncomfortable weekend, I called a reputable contractor suggested by my neighbor who responded with a technician by noon. within an hour, he had identified the problem as the start/run capacitor, replaced it, added one pound of RS-44b refrigerant (a drop-in replacement for R22), cleared the condensate drain and had my unit cooling! Total cost was approximately $450.00! Never again!!

Hottest day last summer, I had COVID, and my AC unit broke. I neglected to read reviews, I was desperate, and the technician did quite the sales pitch encouraging me to sign the service agreement. This will haunt me for a long time, as I will be paying for it every month as long as it continues to haunt me. This is a poor way to do business and gain company profits, and I had COVID. Sleep on that.

This review is for the Advantage Program offered through Eveready Service Experts. Our old HVAC unit stopped working on the hottest day of the year of course and we were in a financial bind. I saw their Advantage Program advertised for no money down, and low monthly periodic maintenance fees. I called the Eveready Service Experts and they promptly arrived and replaced the unit quickly. They showed me the maintenance plan and a monthly charge of $212.00. Initially it was not too bad as I was figuring the cost of the unit to be about $6000 to $7000 and they would come out every 6 months to check the system and the replace filter. Six months later, we had decided to sell the house and called for a Letter of Termination. When I received the letter, the price to terminate was $14,780. I was absolutely floored. They only replaced the unit, no duct work or other repairs were done. A brand new system with all duct work included only cost up to $12000. If you need a new HVAC system, they did a good job at installing, but DO NOT buy into their Advantage Program. It is anything but an advantage.
Response from Eveready Service Experts
"We understand how frustrating HVAC expenses can be and apologize if we did not do a better job of explaining our prices. While some of our customers prefer to pay everything up front, others do not, and as such, prefer our Advantage Program. Our Advantage Program pricing allows our customers to have peace of mind with continual maintenance support on new equipment for one low monthly payment."

Wish we had read reviews more carefully. We had a great experience with the tech who came to routinely service our HVAC, but we also had requested they come flush our water heater. That’s where the problems started. 1) we were not advised that it would be two separate techs (and therefore two fees) to do both, nor was it listed anywhere on their appointment form nor during our scheduling call. 2) the water heater tech took one look at our tank, googled the make and what the numbers meant, declared it out of warranty and therefore a bad idea to service, then gave a lengthy explanation about our heater that (of course) culminated in a sales pitch to replace the unit. She said she doesn’t service our make & its age renders a flushing ill advised. Why wasn’t this disclosed during scheduling? OBVIOUSLY we would decline someone coming out for $99 to explain how my water heater works and then to try and get me to buy a new one. So, because obviously that is a huge waste of my and their time, the only logical answer is to make a quick $99 for nothing. Extremely disappointing & misleading. When we called to complain they basically said “too bad, should’ve known better.” Nowhere on their website says they can’t service over a certain age/make. Their website actually claims the opposite—that they can handle anything. Screenshots below. Like..if I knew better I wouldn’t be calling for servicing are you joking? Even if you can claim we should’ve known about servicing it out of warranty, how would we know they refuse to service our make of water heater. Again, nowhere on their website & because they claim the opposite, this is false advertising.

This company is horrible... RUN!!! It's been almost two months that I've been trying to get copies of the inspection reports for the inspections they have done on my rental property. This is absolutely ridiculous and not the first issue I've had with this company! I have spoken to them on the phone to submit my request verbally and sent multiple emails WITH NO RESPONSE except they continue to charge my credit card of course. To make matters worse, last time they came out to do "whatever the mystery reports say", they left the protection plate off the outside AC unit and left it completely exposed. Now the unit is making a strange noise my tenant says... surprise, surprise.

On 10/29/19 we had an appt. for a tune up & to troubleshoot a small leak. One tech arrived, then another. I was told there were too many flaws in my system to tune it up and it would be a liability for them to do so as it was. He said the missing cap was not something that could be obtained by itself, I'd have to purchase a complete new unit. I wrote down some of the problems he indicated (no safety/overflow/cut off switch, the missing cap, along with much general frustration that my system was installed poorly). I sincerely was going to hire them to fix everything they indicated was not proper. The tech said it was going to cost me as much as the install to take everything out and put it back in properly. He also suggested some mold fluorescent light treatments (I believe those were $700-$1100). I suggested we get the system corrected as per his specifications first & then we'd worry with mold. He said he would not charge me $139, the cost of the tune up, but just $69, as a service call, since they didn't want a liability situation. So, I paid $69.00 & told him I'd wait for his repair estimate. I never heard from them again. Ten days later, I called James River & asked them to come out. They did a complete tune up & we made an appt. to install the safety switch. He made a temporary cap for the missing one since he did not have one on his truck. We purchased an annual maintenance contract as a result from James River HVAC and are very pleased. We are now dissapointed & very concerned about what what was going on on 10/29/19.

After waiting for more than a day, they sent someone who seemed to have no idea what he was doing. He was not able to bring the thermostat up, so he diagnosed that the reversing valve outside had gone bad. The thermostat was not coming back up due to wet overflow sensors. I was very skeptical of his diagnosis and before spending 1200 on his quoted fix, i called another company to get a second opinion. They were able to bring the thermostat back up in a few minutes once they dried out the sensor which was submerged in water. They diagnosed the issue to be with the txv. Since this was our first time getting hvac service, i called another guy who also diagnosed the issue to be with txv. They both said, it’s very unlikely for a reversing valve to go bad. So i went ahead with the repair which costed way less than what eveready technician quoted. Now our AC is working absolutely fine. If i would have not gotten a second opinion i would have wasted 1200 on unwanted repairs diagnosed by this dishonest company. Don’t trust the good reviews here and save yourself some money and time. I trusted the good reviews and wasted 100 on a service call. Highly disappointed.

The price was good.I got them and used them for the air conditioner. They had a special for three service calls for air conditioning and heating for one price and then you pay them again. It was pretty good. The quality was good. They give you a two-hour window. I'll take the contract because it includes three service times.

I used to use Ever Ready, and I would not recommend them. Every time they came, they tried to sell me another “extra” thing. In fact, at one point, they told me I had asbestos up in my attic, and was selling me this very expensive removal of the asbestos, but they never told me to have it checked. When I called somebody else, they said we aren’t even going to look at it until you have people that check it. Well I didn’t have asbestos up there. They’ve been bought out by a national company. I was with them for over 50 years I think – or 40 years. This one comes down and he says “I can’t be up there, I can’t be up there. You have asbestos up there.” Took a picture and his boss came over and said you have asbestos up there and they were telling me, first of all they were telling me that the county would remove it. The county said we don’t know what they are talking about. I called them back, they gave me the name of a company that removes it. I called the company and they said are you sure is asbestos. I said that’s what they told me. They said, well this is the company that analyzes it. So, we wouldn’t even come out and look at it, until you have it analyzed and figure out if it really is. They didn’t do it (the service) so I didn’t pay. They were having a fit. Generally speaking, it was on a yearly contract. The contract was running about $200 a year.  I’ve been in this house 55 years and I’ve dealt with them up to that point, the first 48 years. The last 3 to 4 years they have been bought out by another company and that’s when everything changed. So, prior to that I was very happy with them.   They came in 2013 but they didn’t do anything but aggravate me. They had been aggravating me before that. It was "you need something to control the mold" or "you need to put this on it". I don’t know what year it was taken over by the Service Experts, but the last 3-4 years I was really getting annoyed with them. This time when they came, they told me I had a leak, and I had to replace the coils or something. They said "well did he test it?";  I said not that I know of. They were punctual. They were ok. The only thing that bothered me was because they kept telling me I had to get something for the mold, they kept trying to sell me "stuff".

They come twice a year to maintain the system. It was a preventative maintenance call, so it was a contract. They're usually in and out in about 30 minutes. They do the job and move on.

They were the best. It was a decent price. It wasn’t much, basically I asked a couple questions, the reason they used that type of spigot. They said, there’s a relief valve that’s in it, in the top of it. It keeps it from freezing and what not. He was very knowledgeable about the issue. The foundation was screwed down and when you pull the hose it would cause it to quick. When he pulled it out there was a hairline crack in the pipe.
