Dunmar Moving Systems currently has locations in Richmond, Norfolk, Charlottesville, Blacksburg and Roanoke, Virginia. With a staff of over 135 employees and more than 140 pieces of equipment, Dunmar is capable of serving any moving or storage need that might arise. We pride ourselves on the high-quality, cost-effective services we offer our residential and commercial clients. One of the most unique aspects of Dunmar is the longevity of its staff. Many of the drivers, packers, office staff and managers have been with the company for more than 20 years. As we have grown and matured, we now employ many of their children. Move was ok. The real frustration came afterwards. Damage to our sleigh bed with tempurpedic mattress to the supports underneath. Damage to $1000+ leaner mirror. They "settled" at $250 (we had a $250 deductible). The hassle factor alone is well over $250. I need to find someone to come out, move the beyond heavy mattress, make the repairs, take the 75 lb mirror to a repair shop (which will also involve hiring someone to move and transport!). It takes 3 different recordings to get a human being (if you are lucky).

Allied is as much or more to blame for this as Dunmar. And unforseen events do happen. But bottom line, they sold me something they did not provide and my belongings suffered as a result. I agreed to go with Allied/Dunmar only because they promised me my stuff would be picked up and loaded onto the same truck that would make the trip and delivery to my new address. I wanted that because most loss/damage occurs during the intermediated transfers to storage and other trucks. Sure enough, they loaded my stuff onto an smaller truck and into storage multiple times. And in so doing mishandled so severely that they ruptured a solid suitcase, destroying the securely packed family heirlooms inside. Then, despite the contractual language specifying that items I packed would only be covered for damage if what they were packed in showed obvious signs of mishandling, they agreed to only pay for the suitcase, not the items inside. Also, the driver tried to conceal that damage from me.

After researching your move, the original Allied driver scheduled to haul your items was in a severe car accident right before your move dates and broke his arm. As this unforeseen event occurred so close to your move dates, Allied was unable to secure another driver in such a short amount of time. This is the reason that your items were not loaded onto the same truck as the one that delivered to you. In looking through our files i do see where we spoke to you about this and you were aware prior to loading. Unfortunately, this was completely out of our hands and we did everything possible to make your move go well. Despite this unforeseen event, Dunmar and Allied were still able to get your items loaded out of your home on time and delivery occurred during your original delivery spread. Additionally, we apologize for the items that were damaged in transit but are glad that we could repair/replace your suitcase. We do cover items that are packed by the owner (PBO) but only when they are packed properly into cartons, this is listed on your signed Customer Agreement. We will certainly pass on your comments regarding the driver to his Operations team so that they can use this as a coaching opportunity. We hope that you are enjoying your new home and are having a wonderful summer!"

It went exceptionally well. Katy in the Dunmar office kept me informed of dates and processes. The move, despite being most of the way across the country, could not have gone better. They even moved my Harley Davidson and Bone China Set. I would definitely use them to help me move again.

It went as well as could be expected. The men that were assigned to unload in Holly Springs were older (early to mid 60's) and the work just seemed to be too difficult for them. Moving heavy furniture and appliances into a two story house. Then, being almost 100 outside, it was just too much for anyone let alone someone their age.

Everything went absolutely perfectly, from the estimation process right through the two-day move itself. Our estimator was a pleasure to deal with, and the estimation process (and updating it right before the move) was painless and accurate. The two teams Dunmar sent to the house (two different moving days) were absolutely terrific: delightful, funny, polite, conscientious and careful professionals who took much of the pain out of what is at best a difficult two days for anyone in our position. Every one of them did a terrific job, and they were very patient with us. My wife and I couldn't have been happier, and we would recommend Dunmar without reservation.

We could not have asked for this move to go better. Three men came out and moved everything and they were professional beyond words. Two were training a young man and they were so patient with him explaining how and why things were to be done a particular way. I was so impressed with their expertise and quality of work and basically the concern for peoples memories and items. Every item was handled with care. They were respectful with my parents belongings and with my parents. I'm so Thankful we went with this company. I can't praise these men enough for the amazing job they did. The obvious high work ethics these men have truly shows in what they do.

They did a good job. They called in advance and came exactly when they said they would. The only downside is that they are pricey. It was a little more than I had anticipated.

It went great. From our initial meeting with the sales representative who analyzed our situation and provided options of how they could help us manage our move and storage needs, to the actual moving of all of our belongings. The crew who came to the house was on time, very courteous and professional and kept everything clean and tidy while moving us. They took great care in moving our items and even wrapped up our furniture to ensure it would stay protected throughout the move. A live person is always available to talk to me whenever I called their offices and they were priced very competitively and in fact cost lower than several of the other quotes we got for our move. I would highly recommend using Dunmar for any of your moving or storage needs.

They broke a lot of my things, and only made it right on one item. Even at that, they didn't repay me anywhere close to what it cost me. My bookcase was broken, the file cabinet was damaged, and some of my dishes were also broken. They only gave me $29 to cover the filing cabinet.

The move went as well as possible ... even with rain part of the day. The four man crew was a real pleasure to work with. They got along well with each other and were quite cordial and yet professional with us. They organized the process very well and accomplished everything carefully but efficiently.

Dunmar made the headache of moving so much easier. They were prompt with their estimate as well as flexible with us having to move our moving date 3 times due to construction delays. They were also very helpful with additional boxes to use and return with no additional cost. The crews were very considerate of our property in wrapping/pickup as well as delivery/set up. The guys used patience in our decisions as to placement in our new home with helpful suggestions. The most amazing thing to me was the upbeat attitude and actually entertaining personalities of the workers who had to be physically exhausted toward the end of the days. It is refreshing to find a company with actual great service!

For moving we used Allied Van Lines. They have moved around for like most of my life so far. The professionalism, punctuality and packing is what stood out. Packing was awesome. We only had one small item break out of the entire house hold that they packed. They work with you. It was over the 4th of July holiday and we were hoping that they could deliver it later than earlier and the guy was very convenient, he said, 'yes, no problem', so he worked with us that way. The friendliness, professionalism, punctuality and the packing were the main things. They were awesome. We did price comparison and they matched pretty much everyone else's, maybe slightly more expensive but I would give them an 'A' for the price for the work that they did. I would absolutely use them again in the future.
