COUGOT'S CHIMNEY SERVICE

Appointment was arranged approximately 2 weeks prior to service. Technician was supposed to come to my home at 3PM, however he called and said if convenient he could arrive earlier. As this was the Friday before Christmas, the earlier arrival was appreciated. The technician, Josh, quickly completed his work both inside and outside the house. He quickly did some preliminary work to insure the cleanliness of the process inside, and then accessed the chimney flue via an extension ladder. The whole process took approximately one hour, and when finished everything was cleaned to our complete satisfaction.

Last week I called Cougot's to come and clean my chimney. The two gentlemen who arrived were punctual and professional. The first guy did a visual inspection of the inside of the chimney and said the chimney did not need to be cleaned. Then the other gentlemen double checked and agreed. They then climbed on the roof and inspected the top of the chimney and said everything looks great. They charged me less than quoted because they did not need to clean it, which was a happy surprise. They were also able to fix my damper handle on the spot ( I am not an expert but I think that is was it is called). They told me I did need to fix the cracks in the crown of the chimney, which the home inspector also told me about. Cougots was able to schedule and have it fixed within a week. The same wonderful gentleman came and fixed it for me. I will always call Cougots for all my chimney needs and recommend them to family and friends.

So far I am very unhappy that this service has not been completed after nearly 4 months. and now I'm told it can't be worked on further until spring. Cracks in the crown of my chimney have on a few occasions in the past caused the bricks to absorb moisture to the degree that the exposed brick above my fireplace in the den get wet and then dry leaving an unsightly white residue. When I was able, years ago, I got up on the roof and caulked the cracks which worked well for a many years but I was not using material that was permanent and eventually the cracks came again. Twelve years ago the problem recurred and I decided it needed professional attention. The service provider I used at that time (whose name I no longer remember) came promptly and painted some material on the chimney crown. This corrected the problem completely. There was no more leakage for twelve years. In September 2015, I noticed the problem had returned. After two weeks of strong storms in even the ceiling where the bricks join it became wet. so I was eager to get the cracks corrected before the ceiling needed repair as well. I called this service provider based on good reviews. My call was returned promptly, but the courteous caller said he couldn't get a person out to my house before two weeks time. I arranged my schedule to meet the service person and was surprised to learn he was not there to correct the problem even though I'd described it, but only to look at the chimney and give me an estimate. He said there was an active water leak and the crack was obvious. This was no surprise as I'd told the scheduler that already. I was called the next day and given the estimate to weatherproof the chimney, removing the old material, rebuidling the crown as needed and applying new weatherproofing material to the crown as well as sealing the sides of the chimney. I considered the amount reasonable and agreed, but was told I now had to wait 4 more weeks before workers could return to do the work. Not happy when my ceiling is getting wetter and more fragile looking every time it rained. When the date finally came no one showed up. Finally I called and was told they couldn't do the work in the rain. While that makes sense, it would have been nice to have been given notice of that so I didn't arrange my schedule to meet them once again And now it would be yet another two weeks before they could come. They came then on schedule and presumably did all the worked needed. I paid and sighed with relief, however after the first strong rain following I could see more wetness on the bricks in the den. The situation is much better than before but I expected 100% correction, not 75%. I called again and explained the situation asking for another coat of material to be added to ensure complete weatherproofing or whatever needed to be done to fully correct the situation. Two more weeks wait. I was utterly shocked that the two workers who came had no intention of correcting the problem but were only there for a 'look see'. The weather was ideal for the work to be done and I'd once again arranged my schedule to meet them. Now I'm being told that they can't reschedule any work on my job until spring because of cold weather! I called originally in September! I've been waiting nearly 4 months now and still the work isn't complete. They even tried to convince me that some other issue was responsible even though I've had the repair done successfully before (in one 30 minute visit and it lasted 12 years!) and even did it successfully myself before that. They have been nice on the phone and in person and always apologize for my having to wait due to their busy schedule, but if they are that busy they should have more workers instead of making customers wait for extended periods and if the work hasn't been successfully completed they should be back out to correct it promptly. This is no way to run a business. I'm sorry I ever called this company, but now I've paid them and expect the work to be completed correctly. As it is I'll have continued water leakage all winter. They even tried to get me to pay more for further treatment. That won't be happening, you can bet. I'll update this review when the work is finally completed and improve my scoring if justified, but right now I'm pretty angry. UPDATE: Cougot's chimney service finally fixed the leaking problem with my chimney and I no longer have any issues. I would have improved my rating of them to a C since they did eventually follow through and add more sealant which did the trick.

Codie was such a nice guy, on time and honest about what was and what was NOT necessary to be able to use our fireplace. Since we just purchased the home, we planned on not even using the fireplace for fear of being "ripped off" with an inspection since we had no idea of this fireplaces history. A co-worker recommended Cougot's so I figured I would just see what they had to say. I am so glad we did! We were providers with actual pictures of our chimney and explained in depth what the picture where showing. We will definitely have them do the recommended work and refer them to any in need of chimney services! The estimate of repairs was so much less than we thought it would be!!

It was for rental property. Called and set up service and was given a rough estimate to do the work. Spoke with Dan and he said he would go by and fix if the cost was within the quote and would call if there were any issue. Within a week work was done and cost was below estimate. Very well executed.

The technicians arrived on time and worked efficiently. The work appears to be excellent and there were no problems.

We had several chimney repair companies provide an estimate. Cougot's arrived at the prearranged time to inspect our chimney. Cougot's proposed a repair solution that was much less expensive than the methods the other companies proposed. The other companies had included several processes that Cougot's said was unnecessary. The repair work needed to be performed when the temperature was over 40 degrees. Cougot's was flexible and was able to quickly adjust their schedule to perform the work during the recent warm spell. I was very impressed with the entire staff at Cougot's. I appreciated their honesty, professionalism and business integrity. I would strongly recommend them for chimney services and repairs.

I needed 3 flues cleaned for a home we just purchased. I contacted multiple chimney cleaning/repair services to set up an initial inspection and received a prompt response from Cougot's. The representative was very helpful and knowledgable and not only answered all of my questions but they were also priced more reasonably than the other companies I spoke with. The company I did book didn't give any information except how much it cost and were not very helpful. Unfortunately it is an urgent situation and I was not able to get an appointment by the time I needed with Cougot's because of the high call volume this time of year so I had to book the other company. I will definitely use Cougot's if the company I did schedule reports that I need repairs, however.

When I first started looking for chimney pros I was a little lost and actually apprehensive. Not fear was not founded with COUGOT'S CHIMNEY SERVICE. The professionalism, knowledge of the work needed and just down right friendly service was appreciated and very enjoyable. I not only received service, I received education about my fireplace, which was as important as any. Thank you for your service.

Josh and Drew were great! They arrived at the scheduled time, actually a little before and waited for me to return. They were thorough, professional and the price was very reasonable. My 4 year-old son was very interested in what they were doing and one (I can't remember his name right now) explained everything to him and was so patient! He made my son feel like he was part of the crew. They cleaned up after themselves and were not pushy about services that could be done. We will call them each year to as long as we live here. Scheduled for inspection and cleaning. Specialist was prompt even a little early and asked if he could start early. This was great for us. Inspected both the fireplace chimney and furnace chimney. He reported that both were very clean and wouldn't need cleaning. Notice the furnace flue was recently relined and was in great shape. Recommended a repair of the mortar joint in the firebox. The specialist was very professional and courteous. We will have the repair done by this company.

Cougats was recommended by our home inspector. Called office and scheduled service. In addition to chimney service discussed light masonry repairs. They were happy to do masonry repair on chimney, but advised me to hire a masonry professional to do other work, which is retrospect was good advice. Work crew showed up at the scheduled time. Phoned me at my office to provide an estimate for the repairs and I authorized the work. Emailed me the invoice, including before and after pictures. Overall, very pleasant and professional service.

Excellent. The two men that came were on time, friendly and professional. They used their time efficiently, while one cleaned the inside, the other went on the roof to inspect the chimney. I received a clearly written Chimney Service Report with the status of the chimney flue, bricks etc. with the recommended service needed and the urgency of the repairs. They said it was ok for now, needed a repair but it was not in dangerous condition, and could wait if I needed to. They could have told me anything, but were honest in their assessment of what was needed and didn't try scare tactics that I was in danger if I didn't do it RIGHT NOW! I will definitely call them again and they will do the repairs when I have the money to do it.

They were friendly and great to deal with. Kept in communication when there was a delay due to dangerous weather.

The gentleman who came out was very knowledgeable and friendly. I had recently bought my house and found a chimney leak. I we renovated the whole house and had another chimney service quote us a price to fix the chimney at 4 times what Cougots's repair price is. I will be scheduling the work for repair this week. They were also highly recommended by neighbors and Angies list!

Did a very good job. Cleaned up after themselves Made one recommendation, which I followed, that will allow us to continue to enjoy our wood stove for years to come. They do GREAT work. We had them place a liner in the chimney over 10 years ago.
