My hot water heater was leaking and Carroll Plumbing provided same day service to take care of this emergency. The installation of the new tank and removal of the old one was handled in a very professional manner.

Carroll people were at my house three times on this job. Every time they arrived exactly at the pre-appointed time; wore booties in the house so as not to track dirt in. They were extremely professional and honest with me (i.e., my furnace was quite old, nonetheless, not entirely shot yet, so they proposed a repair that hopefully will last a few more years). They quoted a rough price and stuck with that price even though I'm sure they spent longer at my house than they had planned. I would absolutely use them again-- no complaints at all.

Carroll's guys were amazing. they showed up right on time, were very polite and professional. they explained all the services and tests they were preforming. They went out of their way to find ways to save us money and improve our system in the long and short term. Can't say enough good stuff about them, will use Carroll in the future and no one else.

I could write a long review but let me cut to the chase. My hot water stopped flowing at full force and I was basically without hot water at an increasingly cold time of the year. No shower, no dishwasher usage, no washing clothes.
Right before Thanksgiving is a busy time (one plumber quoted 2 weeks before they could get to me). But this outfit found a time spot for my service call and communicated well with me to arrange it and kept me informed. They got to me the next day (that was very responsive at this time of year) and when the tradesmen showed up, they assessed the problem, fixed the problem, and they had the hot water flowing again with full pressure in less than an hour. Chris, the service manager I spoke to on the phone, was polite, courteous and very helpful.
I'm an engineer and I know how to critique something (I think we all probably have this innate ability!). These qualities make me a cynic by default! But in truth, I believe it is all really about assessing reality correctly; and the reality is, these guys did me justice, and I have nothing but kudos for them. Amazing ... I was actually greatly satisfied with a service. Hold on - I'm getting up off the floor from the shock.
I will be using them again I am sure. You never really WANT to have need of a plumber, anymore than you WANT to go to the dentist for a nice comfortable root canal. But when you need them, it's good to have someone who has a good track record and who has the expertise to do a quality job, at a good price and in a timely manner. Oh wow - all three values?? I thought I was suppose to choose only 2.
Thanks Carroll Plumbing, and thank you to the other List Members for posting their comments and for having helped me to make my ultimately successful decision.
And that's the short review version.

We had a drain that backed up periodically. It was backing up more and more frequently. We had tried other plumbers that fixed the immediate problem, but not the cause. Carroll's stuck with us and took the time to find where the problem was-not easily accessible by any means, and fixed it. It took 2 attempts to get it right, but they didn't give up.

The plumber arriving ahead of schedule and immediately put on paper shoes prior to entering the room. He measured the distance from the ceiling area downstairs to the point upstairs where the leak might be. He then determined that the leak was coming from the tub controls behind the wall which had already been opened. He proceeded to put down an appropriate covering on the ground, and then repairs the piping. He asked if we had an alarm system that connected to the fire dept since he needed to use a torch and that would have set off the smoke detectors. (whch we didn't). He then proceeded to repair the leak.
We were very impressed with his work and attitude. We were recommeded to Carroll plumbing by our next door neighbor who is very careful about who she chooses for contractors.
We will certainly use Carroll Plumbing again should the need arise.

I called Carroll Plumbing to have them clean out my main line to the street. I was told the cost would be $110/hr + $50 for the machine they needed to bring and that it probably wouldn't take longer than an hour. They came, they did their job and they left. it isn't a complicated procedure. Today I receive a call that they had made a mistake in the quote that they gave me. The new price was $275. I have no idea how they don't have a simple price sheet. No offer of splitting the difference....just a sorry tough luck.

Had a badly stopped up garbage disposal in kitchen sink. We chose this plumber based on Angie's List recommendations. Called the emergency number over the weekend and told them I did not need an emergency call, but wanted to be on the schedule first thing Mon. morning.
Someone called twice to confirm that they were coming, and then called again Monday morning to tell me what time they would be there. Arrived on time, by 9AM. Worked on the disposer, removed all the piping under the sink, still could not clear it. Finally went under the house and had to use the sewer cleanout to get the blockage cleared.
The young man could have been nicer. He cleaned up any and all mess. Left the place spotless. I would definitely call Carroll Plumbing in the future.
Since we have lived in this house for 6 months, we have had several plumbers for various reasons
and we were very pleased with Carroll.

We returned home from vacation to discover that our water filtration system had cracked and was flooding our crawlspace. I contacted Carrol Plumbing at 7:30 AM on Monday morning and they were able to send someone to my home by 8:30 AM. Charlie arrived on time was very professional. He kept me informed as to his progress, was very neat and made recommendations for actions I needed to take to clean up the water which had leaked under our home. When he finished he went over what he had done with me and took time to explain the new equipment he installed. I was very pleased with the service. The only item I found disturbing is that when I called I was told that there would be a "small" travel charge due to my location. Charlie was on site for 2 hours but with the travel charge I was charged for 3 hours of labor. At $110 an hour I felt that this did not amount to a "small" charge. I would get clarification on all charges before service, otherwise it was a great experience.

I wanted a simple toilet replacement done. (Since the total price above could seem steep to some just for a toilet replacement, I would like to note that the particular toilet we requested - extra high, particular model - retails for $460 at Home Depot, so what we paid reflects the specific request for a much more expensive fixture than average.) They got us scheduled for the work fast, showed up on time, brought the requested model, installed it, hauled away the old one, and did a great job.
I also asked them to take a look at a leaking jacuzzi tub - after spending time testing and checking out the house plumbing, they told me that the leak was coming from the tub equipment itself, and I would need to contact someone who specializes in spa equipment repair instead. I would always prefer for someone to tell me that what I need done is outside their expertise and give me a suggestion on who to call, than to charge me to try to fix something and not get it fixed properly, so I am completely satisfied with their effort and honesty.
I would definitely use them again for plumbing work.

The service was decent but I thought the price was incredibly unfair. I live a few blocks from Carroll Plumbings offices so the entire trip to and from the office likely took the plumber 10-15 minutes. At that rate, I was charged about $500 per hour to screw a faucet tighter (yes, I should have been able to do this one on my own). I called Carroll Plumbing to ask them to reconsider the bill given how unfair it was for the work done. I had used Carroll Plumbing prior to this experience so was a repeat customer. They would not budge on the bill, stating that they have a $110 minimum charge regardless of how long they are at your house. In the call I had with them to schedule the appointment, they did not once mention their minimum charge. I like their quality, but unfortunately I will never use their company again given how outrageously unfair I perceive this bill to be.
Response from Carroll Plumbing & Heating Inc
"Dear Ms. [member name removed], I appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration in regards to the situation. I want you to know that I take these reviews and all feedback very seriously. Please know that we are using this as an unfortunate learning experience to ensure that we are effectively communicating to our customers while offering the best customer service. Our technicians have been reminded that in the event that a service call takes less than the minimum hour, to communicate with the homeowner if any additional services can be addressed to fill the minimum hour charge. It has also been addressed with our customer service representatives to communicate our rates on a consistent basis. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you regarding this issue. Again, thank you for the feedback and hope to hear from you. Sincerely, Courtney Gregory"

Our toilet tank sounded like it was running non stop all morning. We have been having troubles with it rocking on the floor for a while now, and I was getting concerned it was leaking into the crawl space.
I called Carroll Plumbing at noon after reading reviews on AL, and they said they'd be able to send someone out that afternoon. They also explained the pricing to me over the phone ($110/hour plus parts) and asked if I wanted to proceed.
Charlie came to the house at about 1:40 (so much faster than I expected!), and was great about really getting to the root of the problem. He checked the meter, went into the crawl space before determining that the running sound was actually coming from the outside faucet. Since he was there, he fixed a part inside the tank and replaced the wax ring to stop the rocking. He suggested replacing the outside faucet, but I opted to save that for another time since it wasn't broken (just really hard to turn all the way off).
The whole experience was really great, I'm glad I've found a reliable plumber to call on in the future. The only thing that slightly bothered me was that he added caulk to the bottom of the toilet. I'd been told by many rentals that this was not a good thing to do because you couldn't be able to tell if the toilet was leaking. But Charlie reassured me that the caulk would actually help to secure the toilet to the floor and would reduce the risk of leaking. I only wish he would have asked me first because I'm worried we'll have to remove the caulk when we go to sell the house. Over all not a big deal to me in the short term, though.

They sent someone the day that I called, the person came out when he was supposed to, and completed the work appropriately. The cost was less than the estimate I had been provided.

It went very smooth I had no problems and they even found something else that we need to fix as well. I have used them off and on for the past 15 years.

They responded quickly and were there when they said they would be. They solved the back up problem and best of all - cleaned up the mess. They set up another visit to use a camera to check the pipes to be sure this did not happen again, it had been a recurring problem. They checked thoroughly, identified the problem and as soon as I have the carpet pulled up they will be here to fix it. They have done a follow up call to find out how things were going. I will definitely use them again.

This review isn't really about the latest service from Carroll Plumbing; all they did was check the radiators and pilot light, all very routine. I want to write about my history with this company. I've been using them for more than 25 years, at three different houses, for everything from heating to clogged drains to malfunctioning toilets. I have never had a bad experience, not once. The work is always first rate, the workers are unfailingly prompt and courteous, and the advice is always honest. Their work is not cheap, but in this case you get what you pay for, namely peace of mind that when you need plumbing expertise you get prompt and competent service.

We had several problems with clogged drains. On the first visit they were able to determine that the main sewer line leaving the house was broken and clogged. They sent more than one crew to get the problem fixed and had it repaired by late afternoon. On this visit they also identified several other drain line problems and came back and repaired those. I also had a clogged drain in an upstairs sink. I had had two plumbers try to unclog it but neither were successful. The man from Carroll had it unclogged in less than 5 minutes. Carroll Plumbing is my plumber of choice now and I highly recommend them!

Pretty close to perfect! I won't go into all of my past troubles with HVAC companies, but let's say I know the difference between a clean and professional install and the alternative!
They were prompt, professional, and clearly understand boilers, piping, radiators, and how to do a good clean job. In particular, boilers require someone who has the right experience. Two men took care of everything, with supervision checking in on their work. It was smooth sailing, and I was about due for that!!!
Nice job guys!
If you need a boiler for your radiators, I finally have a company to recommend!

They were responsive; they came quickly, and did the work properly. I thought their price was a little high.
