We have used David Bradshaw in the past for two smaller jobs. Previously, he has done an asbestos abatement project and a structural repair/stabilization project for us. We were very happy with our experiences, and so we chose David to undertake this larger job: a substantial self-designed kitchen renovation. Our appreciation of his work, both as a master craftsman and as a general contractor remains very high. David is a master of old houses and their unique problems and needs. If you are an old-house owner, you cannot do better than David. He worked well with us in seeing our goals met and in making our design plans work. He always sought solutions to problems that suited our needs, our budget, and which served to maximize safety, workmanship, and the character of our house.
As a general contractor, David worked with very highly respected professionals. The coordination of our project went very smoothly and we feel we got top-notch work from David's recommended electrician, countertop fabricator, HVAC service, flooring specialists, and cabinet maker. He did not take a percentage of charges from subcontractors, but he coordinated and supervised their efforts in a very professional manner, and with excellent results.
Was there a downside to working with Bradshaw Reestorations? Not for us. We felt it likely that the cost would be higher than some other contractors and that the work would probably not get done in the short time-frame we hoped for, just because we had come to understand the craftsman-like, rather than simply workman-like, standards David sets for himself. If the fastest completion time and/or the lowest project costs are of the essence in your project, David may not be your first choice. On the other hand, if very high standards of work, integrity, and consideration for clients top you priority list, then talk to David Bradshaw.

He is the neatest person I have ever used! There was nothing to clean up when he was done! He noticed that the french doors were sticking, so he fixed those, as well as a plug outside that wasn't working. In fact, anytime he saw something that wasn't quite right, he fixed it- at no extra charge to me! I can't say enough good things about him! He was very reasonably priced and guaranteed his work for his lifetime.  Before he left, he let me know how long to wait until I powerwashed the deck. He was just a Godsend to me. I wouldn't have known to wait 6 months.
