B & B PAVING INC

An employee of B & B Paving came to my door and asked if I wanted my driveway sealed. He said that they were doing another job in my neighborhood. He gave me an estimate that was ONLY good for that day. He told me that could extend the side of my driveway and fix a broken patch near the end of the driveway. Of course the price was too good to be true but I agreed to have them do the work. I was told that they would have to go get hot asphalt and left. While they were gone I looked up their ad in the yellow pages, I tried to look up a license number for them but couldn't find one. I called the phone number in the book and spoke to one of the owners. I asked her for their license number and was told that they were near D.C. at the time and I would have to wait until the next day for it. I looked B & B Paving up on the BBB website and it showed that there had been two complaints about them. One was resolved but the other wasn't. They came back approximately 2 hours later with a truck of asphalt. I had to leave for work so my 20 year old was home to keep an eye on them. As soon as I got to work I called the owner's number again and this time I spoke to the other owner (husband & wife & son team) I told him that I wanted rock put down first along the side of my driveway before they put down any asphalt. He repeatedly told me that I didn't need rock to be under the asphalt, that the asphalt alone could support a car. When I got home the driveway was a mess. I called B & B Paving the next morning and told them to come out and fix it. They came because they hadn't been paid yet. They looked at the driveway and then went up to Lowes and got a bucket PATCH and a tube of what looked like tar. The tube stuff was used to attempt to fill large cracks in my driveway. The patch was applied to the edges of the driveway were they didn't finish putting the original asphalt. After trying to make the owner understand that the driveway looked terrible and he telling me not to tell him how to do his job (I was home alone) I paid them "just to get rid of them". After that I subscribed to Angie's List. An estimate to fix my driveway from another company is $2500.00 which I do not have.
