Moving is never high up as a great time experience but A Woman's Touch Moving was beyond excellent. I had called multiple other movers and they gave me estimates over the phone, site unseen, which was a great concern to me. I had heard horror stories of a moving company stating one price and then triple or quadrupling it once they performed the service. Even when I asked if they should come out and do an inspection I was told it was not necessary. When I contacted a Woman's Touch the first thing they asked was make an appointment to review the job they could be doing (what a concept!). Since we were working in Charlottesville but still living in Richmond we needed someone to pack our entire house as well. The written estimate we were provided had full disclosure showing hourly rates for the packers, movers, truck rental cost, travel time and moving materials. All the other movers I spoke with stated they would be charging us by the weight of the truck. A Woman's Touch told us if you were not going out of state you shouldn't be charged by the weight. They allocated 3 days for the move. The first was to pack all contents, the second to load all in the trucks and the third to unload at our new home. Their quality of work was exceptional. The packers packed everything with care like it was their own and NOTHING was broken. The movers were amazing. We had a six man crew with Lee and quot;heading up the boysand quot;. They worked non-stop each day without any breaks and even moved two refrigerators to different floors that were already in the house. And to top it off, the price was LESS than the estimate! I highly recommend A Woman's Touch Moving and would definitely use them again.

A Woman's Touch Moving Inc. They arrived at my house in Chester, VA on time and the movers (3 men) were very polilietand got right to work. When they took a morning break it just went down hill from there. The big problem was I did not find out about some of the major problems until after they moved in my things at my Petersburg, VA home. When they took a break for thier 1/2 hour lunch they were gone for over 1 1/2 hours. Then when they got back from their very long lunch they started to move more funiture. Now when they first arrived I asked the man in charge (sorry I do not have their names) if it was ok to pack small items in the dressers drawers or should I take them out and pack them separately so they did not get broken. He said "It's not a problem" to leave them in the drawers they will be careful. "Lots of people pack items in the drawers". "It's not problem" these words turned out to be his favorite words and te words that would come back to give me nightmares. When the truck was getting very full with what seemed to me a lot of funiture and the entire garage left I asked them if they were going to order another truck? "No It's not a problem" As they stuffed the last of my furnitue in they picked up one of the dressers that I had packed with small fragile items and took the dressers with drawers still in it and turned it upside down on top of tool boxes and I thought I heard some of my items breaking but the man in charge once again "No Problem"! So off to the new house in Petersburg we went. I arrived there in less than 25 minutes and waited for them to show up more than an hour later. I asked where they had ben and they said they stopped for a break...... When they unpacked the dressers that I was concerned about sure enough some of the items were broken. It's no problem just report it they will take care of replacing the items per contract.... While they were unpacking they were taking breaks one at a time and I spotted one of them putting his cigarette out in the ground and not picking it up. I told the man in charge and he said he would talk to them "It's no problem". Ok all over with and they are gone things started coming to my attention: In other dressers more broken items, things put together wrong, extra parts laying under the beds and outside where they had taken their breaks 20 or more cigarette butts....to mention only a few things. Called the office and all the friendly professionalism was gone. The lady said she would send them back out to pick up the cigarette butts. We waited past the time they were to come and had to leave to take care of other matters. My husband ended up cleaning them up. Next time we went to the old house in Chester, VA 23 found a couple places where they put their cigarettes out in the ground and did not clean them up. Called the office report this and the fact that the clean up for the new house had not been done. ........ the non-responds and un-professionalism continued until we just stopped calling them and repair and cleaned up our self. Please don't use this company I think it's the only way they will really see how this kind of work ethic will not be tolerated.
Response from A Woman's Touch Moving Inc
"This report is far from being accurate. The only problem that was reported to the office was the cigarette butts that were in her driveway. We promptly asked her if she wanted us to come out and pick up the cigarettes, she said her husband had already picked them up, but she could throw them back in the yard. When she called the office, she never once mentioned any damaged items. Furthermore, why would anyone put breakables in a dresser drawer instead of packing them in boxes. We "always" tell customers to only leave clothing or non breakable items in drawers. I can tell you that if I had contractors come to my house and damage and break items, I would not be giving a tip. She tipped the guys very well."

It went very bad. At one point during the drive to my new place, the moving truck stopped following me and turned into a McDonald's. When I questioned what they were doing, the woman in charge said they were hungry and needed to eat. When she presented me with the bill, it included their and quot;hourand quot; for lunch, and I refused to pay for it. I told her it was not time spent moving my furniture, therefore, it was NOT my expense. She refused to remove the time from the bill, so when it was presented to me, I marked up the move time and total bill. That's what they were paid - no more; no less.

We downsized when we moved from Portsmouth, VA to Elizabeth City, NC, and we moved as much as we could ourselves, leaving the larger furniture/appliance pieces and boxes for the moving company. My husband left in his truck with the movers and I followed later with my SUV filled. When I arrived, they were hard at work moving everything into our new home. As awful as moving is, the two young fellas who came from A Woman's Touch to help us were very helpful and fast.

They arrived on time and were ready to get started. One of the three man team actually had experience as a truck driver so he was able to move our rental truck into a good position. Immediately I noticed a different approach to moving-they did a fireman brigade style; one guy move it from the truck to the porch, handed it off to the second guy, who took it inside and then handed it to a third. This meant my husband told them what room, and then it was told to the next person, and then the next etc. Seemed like an excessive process. A lot of the boxes were put into rooms first and then there was no place to put the furniture because there were boxes everywhere. About 15-20% of our boxes were put in the wrong rooms, but my guess is that my husband was responsible for most of that. :) One of the movers was sweating profusely. I watched him bring in our leather chair, and saw it had about a 2ft by 3ft wet area from his sweat. It was a hot day, not sure what else to say.

When they left, I noticed scratches on the wood floor in the foyer. We were moved in on the Friday of labor day weekend and school started the next week. Long story short, I never called to talk to the company so I don't know how they would have responded.

On the plus side, they did get everything moved inside in the time we had allotted and none of our belongings appear to be damaged.

I was worried when they pulled up in a 24' truck because that was the same size truck that was used on my last major move. The previous moving company had to make two trips--and charged me twice... plus I had accumulated additional significant items to move that I did not have before. When I expressed my concern to the supervisor, she assured me that her guys would have room to spare--and they did!! There was no incidental damage and nothing lost. All were very polite and courteous and VERY hard working. I heard no complaints or negative comments despite the hot weather, two stories of stuff, and steep landscape that made loading more difficult than typical. The only downside was that they would not take a credit card, only cash, cashier's check, or money order--all options that caused me hardship.

Very professional, friendly movers. They arrived on time, worked diligently, and were very careful with the furniture and the walls/floors (one time early they tracked some mud up the stairs as it had rained the night before... after pointing this out to them they were very careful). The job was done in the estimated time. The one miss was that, in the live estimate, I was told my piano (baby grand) could be moved. Once the movers saw it, they said they didn't have the equipment for it. Not a big deal as I was able to bring in a piano mover a few days later, but could have been a challenge if I was pressed for time.

Overall, I would use them again.

Everything went very well. Jessica returned my initial call promptly. After I submitted a list of what I needed moved, she quickly supplied the cost for the job. On the day of the move, personnel from A Woman's Touch. arrived right on time in Alderson, WV (not the easiest place to find). The truck was quickly loaded and we were off the Richmond. The funiture was unloaded in three locations without question.

I was VERY impressed from the first phone call, Jessica made a appointment to come out and give a estimate ( most others just gave a verbal with out looking ) She arrived on time , and was extremely professional, She had Randy with her and they both made me feel comfortable , and that they had everything under control. The day before I got a confirmation call from Jessica ,, to make sure a** was well and if we needed anything else . 8 AM sharp ! they pulled up smiling faces , and went right to work ! We where impressed with the care they gave all our things , they all had very positive cheerie aptitudes the two men Randy and "Rambo" as he was called ( I saw why , he is not only a big strong guy , but is ready from anything , tools etc ...) They did it in there 3 hour estimate , complete clean, cheery and I will recommend reefer, and sing the praises of the crew and company I hope that their supervisors read theses reviews , because this one is how it should be ! they should be proud to have employees how are so good at what they do , do it with a smile , it reflects 100 % on A Women's Touch Moving Thank you Angie's list (again) and THANK YOU Woman's touch ! Kevin and Karin ...
