I had the truck towed to Orange County Garage by a company that Terry the owner reccommended and AAA covered the tow and it was approximately 45minutes from the time I called the shop until the truck was sitting in his lot. This is a mechanic that I absolutley trust to give me an honest and fair estimate of what needs to be done. I was bringing my truck in to get the engine repaired after the horrible 5.4 Triton in my ford finally gave out at 103,000mi, I initially took the cheap approach and had a "friend" try to do the repairs to the plugs and cylider heads but it did not go so well so i gave my truck to Terry and his guys. Fast forward about 2 weeks and I finally got a call from Terry stating that he had gone over the entire truck and there were more broken parts than working parts on it. He told me he could fix the broken engine and it would be cheaper than replacing it but he could almost garauntee that i would be back sooner rather than later. If anyone has seen the Technical Service Bulletins on this engine you will know that Ford really screwed up with this motor. Two weeks without hearing anything from your Mechanic might seem like a longer than average wait time but with the snow storms that have been hitting about weekly dumping 6-14" of snow its understandable that they might be backed up especially since it is a small shop. The best part is that when Terry called me he had answers to every question that i had and had already priced a few replacement engines and he found one that had mileage almost identical to what the frame has on it and it came with a lifetime warranty. I spent roughly $2900 on the engine and the rest went to other labor and parts that were needed. Considering that a new engine was needed and he put 20 hours of labor into my truck, I think that this shop is the best one around. I can only assume that he did some things to my truck that he didn't charge me for, either way this is the only shop that I will ever take any of my vehicles to. Total time my truck was "under the knife" was 3 weeks.
