"I was first contacted by the member due to his concern for a new service panel upgrade/replacement. At that time, he had mentioned that he already received quotes from "other" electrical contractors in the area. I then quoted him "my" estimate, which was "HALF" the "COST" of his prior estimates! When I scheduled the "site" visit, I was directed to the panel location and noticed his finished basement area was in the process of being demolished. At that time I questioned the reason why and the member responded with a possible mold/moisture problem. I then suggested to him that while the walls and framing studs are being removed, it would be a good oppurtunity to re-wire the outlets to meet the current electrical Code requirements and the Permit Process necessary to complete the project properly.I also, let him know at that time, that if he we're to allow me to bid on the other electrical work needed, I would further reduce the panel estimate even further.I also indicated to him, the additional circuits he would need to install to bring the area up to "CODE" standards. As time went on, I found myself submitting additional bids, at his request, for a portion of the work that needed to be done, NOT the entire project. I was, at this point, still "walking" him through the permit process even though, I had the feeling of NOT getting the job. After all was said and done, I was able to save him the cost of a New Panel and re-wire the existing panel to accomodate his circuit needs. I NEVER received the go-ahead to perform the work for the entire project. He had told me that the contractor he hired was going to do the entire project, but, Would I install the circuits necessary for him. I agreed and also, repaired a major grounding issue for his electrical service! Now, by this time, I was working 7 days a week and most of which was out-of-town projects in the Baltimore, Richmond and Ocean City area's. When I first met with the member, I was very much in need of work and the member still refused me his project, even after all the time and effort I had devoted to him! Now, after his project was completed by "OTHERS", he realized there were some electrical issues that were Not satisfied by his contractor. At that time, he called me again, asking me to please come out to troubleshoot and repair the electrical installation completed by other's. I explained to the member at that time, I didn't have the any spare time due to the fact, that the large projects on-going were out-of-town and I am working to complete these projects, as they are under contractural agreements and deadlines, and that I am already working 7 days a week. The member still persisted to try to get me to come back out and even went as far, as to infer, that if I didn't, he would Not give me a favorable rating on the Angie's List website! Well, I guess he was right considering his response! RJC Electrical has an impeachable record ever since starting the busineess in 1994. Every job ever started by RJC, has been completed by RJC, and will continue to do so, regardless of the many situations which may arise during the construction process. RJC also guarentee's ALL work performed, for 1 year after the completion date! I thank-you for the oppurtunity to respnd to this client's unfortunate situation. I always reccomend ALL homeowner's use qualified and licensed contractors when considering any work to be performed on thier property!"
