Great! He got my script to the right level (lower than higher), enabled me to stabilize my weight, and was able to tell me, frankly and in a nice way, to lose weight. I did; I lost 17 lbs. He's one of the best doctors I've ever had. He's very engaging, and spends the appointment focused on his patient. And listening.
Description of Work: I have had issues with hyperthyroidism for years, and gained a significant amount of weight because of it. Dr. Horwath figured out what I needed within 2 visits, and now my weight is stabilizing. Dr. Horwath is absolutely fabulous. Lovely, warm and straight-forward.

My visit with Dr. Trad was quite satisfactory. He asked for my story from start to finish, listened carefully, and then explained in detail my diagnosis and options for treatment. He explained each option in detail, including pros and cons. On top of all that, he was very pleasant and likeable. I couldn't have asked for more.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Trad. During Mom's appointment, he had his nurse call Reston Hospital to start the admission process. This included ordering numerous tests that were required before surgery the next day. He also ensured that a Cardiologist saw Mom even though she has no history of heart problems. As I said, she's 90 years old. Dr. Trad was very attentive, and visited several times before and after surgery to ensure that Mom and I were fully informed with what was scheduled, and what to expect. Immediately after the surgery he came to the waiting room to report how it went, and show us pictures. Mom had over 90 gall stones, and her gall bladder was 3X normal size. Mom was released from the hospital 2 days later. She has recovered beautifully from the surgery. She had one follow-up visit with Dr. Trad, and he has communicated her progress with her regular Internist. Unrelated to Dr. Trad. Beware that Reston Hospital doesn't always have all the drugs that may be required by the patient. And they didn't inform us of this problem. My Mom is on 2 inhalers for COPD. We provided her history to numerous nurses, and asked one of the respiratory therapists about it during her stay. I assumed that meant it would be resolved. It wasn't. We didn't find out until the last day that they didn't have Perforomist and hadn't substituted anything for it. They didn't tell us, or we could have supplied it. Mom went for 4 days without this medication. I consider this absolutely reckless behavior.
Description of Work: Dr. Trad performed Gall Bladder surgery on my 90 year old mother. She had been admitted into the Reston Hospital ER on Saturday. The CAT scan showed gall stones. They sent her home with a suggestion to see Dr. Trad. Mom was in terrible pain when we saw Dr. Trad on Tuesday. He explained in great detail the laparoscopic surgery he recommended, as well as, all the tests he would run first to ensure Mom was healthy enough to withstand the surgery. He patiently answered my numerous questions and concerns. Once we agreed to the surgery, he sent her immediately to Reston Hospital for admission. He said that if all went well he would perform the surgery the next day. He is excellent!

A first year medical student or medic could have done as good or better. I would never go back to him. I cannot imagine that he does any serious surgery and they survive.
Description of Work: I saw Dr. Turgeon for a simple cyst removal from my back. I had to wait at his office while he talked on the phone about other business. I had to go to the surgical center for a procedure that could have been done in the office and they acted like it was a heart bypass procedure which I guess is what they do to get more money. I waited for over an hour to go into surgery and my back in still sensitive where he operated even after six months. I didn't even go back for the post follow up because I did not want to see him again. This was surgery a first year student or medic could have done better in my opinion.

I have no complaints with Dr. Horwath and his treatment for me. Dr. Horwath has a good staff now and I'm always treated courteously. A few years ago that was not always the case and I had heard similar feedback but he's got a great team now.
Description of Work: I've been going to Dr. Horwath now for about 10 years for my Diabetes treatment and I find him a highly capable and knowledgeable doctor. Dr. Horwath is sometimes hard to get an appointment with but that's only because he's in high demand. Sometimes I've felt a bit rushed by Dr. H. but again that's only because he's so busy. Whenever I've had questions he does take the time to answer them. Also, there have been times where his staff (this was more in years past) were not the friendliest but I think the staff he has now is just great. Also, Dr. H. is one of the few docs where he's pretty punctual so it's best that you always be on time so you can keep him on time with his other patients. Keep up the good work Dr. H.!

The doctor was very knowledgeable and experienced. He knows how different ethnic backgrounds affect hormone issues. He asks a lot of questions to determine diagnosis and doesn't make a lot of assumptions. He recommended tests that accurately determined my issues. Other doctors I saw made assumptions which caused an incomplete diagnosis. His treatments were very effective. It did take a couple months to get an appointment as a new patient. The doctor has a busy schedule.

He helps me manage my blood work for my thyroid cancer. He is also another one that told me what I should have done or this would happen and he was right. He also is very complete and very direct. He doesn't beat around the bush.
