NTB National Tire and Batteries - Reston

It didn't go well at all. I left the shop after the service still with a check engine light on after 4 visits, car still driving erratically, and UNSAFE. They said there was a short they could not find or diagnose and I needed to take it to a specialist. The new shop was able to diagnose the problem as a short in the controller for the high pressure fuel pump which was cracked and leaking fuel. The determined that it was likely cracked by NTB during installation of the serpentine belt and water pipe. Also, the new belt was cutting into the water distribution pipe as they bent the pulley removing or reinstalling to the water pump. And in removing the water pipe it was found to have been installed with RTV putty instead of the proper o-rings. One of the vacuum hose attachment points wad been broken off and the drilled out and replaced with a brake bleeder valve. A manifold flap was installed backwards and in the open position. 2 injector o-rings were of the wrong type and leaking. Also a chunk the plenum was cracked off. I then had to return to retrieve the 2 engine covers. I had to spend another $3427.00 to have it fixed and NTB is refusing to do anything to make it right.

I felt like there was a bait and switch happening the entire time. It was just very unprofessional and uncomfortable.

I am a car guy with a couple of classic cars as well as daily drivers. I brought my 2013 Kia in for service (alignment). The work was done in a timely manner and the quality was great. As I waited I watched the team work with other customers and deal with other clients with various repairs. Andrew, the manager, was proactive and really treated each customer and their challenges with the utmost care. As I sat there I realized I had found a place I could trust with a standard brake job for my 50 year old mustang. I spoke with Andrew and he told me about his mechanic's experience with new and older cars. Mo knew his stuff and I found a place to do the work. The thing with older cars is you never know what may have been done previously and what could happen unexpectedly. So you really need a mechanic that is honest as well as one that is not going to get frustrated when it turns into a puzzle that needs to be solved. My job turned into the puzzle and they worked on my car until they solved the puzzle. They found issues that I was having that I was unaware of and solved them. This car is a special car and they treated it as such. They were more than fair in what they charged me and I feel thankful that they made my car more safe. I would highly recommend the team at NTB Reston for any work.

I bought tires for our 04 tahoe from them several months ago with free rotation. at the first rotation I had marked the right front tire and at the first rotation it was moved to the rear. I assumed the back tires were criss crossed when they were moved to the front. at the second rotation the rear tire(now the marked tire) was moved straight to the front. in other words its clear they when they rotate tires they simply swap front to back on each side instead of moving front to back and criss crossing, per THEIR diagrams. the thing that really set me off was that (wife took the car in) my wife was told that the brakes on all 4 corners were nearing dangerous levels and she was advised against driving the car because the brakes were so bad..suggesting rotors and pads at all 4 corners to the tune of $967.14. (note; they did not notice the front axle seal that was leaking badly. (I knew about this leak and was looking into getting it fixed)). when I had the axle seal fixed by an ASE certified technician a couple of weeks later, I had him look at the brakes and he said all 4 corners were fine. I no longer trust ANYTHING these jokers say

Showed up at 7 AM to get tires for my truck. As I am planning on selling the truck in the next year or two I wasn't too stressed on which tires I got. The salesman got the information off the truck and came it and asked what tires I wanted. I asked what he said and he explained that he didn't have anything in stock but he could get me the tires to install that day. I told him I needed it by 1 PM and he said no problem. He could get me the same tires that were on my truck. I enjoyed those tires so I said sure. He made some phone calls and then said he couldn't be sure he could get me those but there was a comparable brand that he could get and installed by 1. I told him I preferred the ones on my tire but if he can't get those, then the other brand will do as long as I could get it back by 1. He printed out the quote which listed the brand NOT on my truck. I assume that he just gave up and trying to get those at all. I then left the shop. At 1 PM I hadn't heard from NTB so I called over to them. The man on the phone (not the guy I dealt with) said they just put my truck up on the lift and would call me when it was done. I took them another hour and a half to install the tires. They are very slow, they give inaccurate information, and make promises they can't keep. Do not use this place.
