It went very well, no complaints.

Working with Chuck (owner) and Jose (foreman) at Short Hill was amazing. We were really lucky to find them. We originally started working with a builder from Middleburg who was controlling and unpleasant. He was qualified, but we didn't click, so we stopped the process. We instantly clicked with Chuck and are so glad we chose him. He was very patient with our constant changes of mind and indecision. He worked hard to cram as much value into our frugal budget as possible and never pressured us to spend more. He clearly enjoys his work, has years of building experience, and has knowledge of just about anything you could think of related to building. And he's just a very nice guy. He even came up with clever ideas to ease the stress on our elderly cats, and found a way for us to have access to the washer/dryer so we wouldn't have to use a laundromat for 6 weeks. Those were our 2 biggest concerns and he personally took it upon himself to ease our stress. He has a variety of very talented, trustworthy sub-contractors that he's worked with for years, which was comforting. Once we decided on a design, the job moved along surprisingly quickly - 6 weeks to basically restructure the bones of the house and rebuild the interior of the living end of the house. The site was kept as clean as possible, inside and out. The carpentry was excellent, all the detail work neat and sharp. Jose ran the show competently day to day, and Chuck was by regularly and did some of the work himself - especially the creative, unique features. We had absolutely no complaints - Chuck and Jose are even pickier than us, and take great pride in a job done right, and leave nothing undone. We are still stunned at how smoothly and pleasantly this project went. It was truly a pleasure working with Short Hill. And we hope to have them back for future projects.
