Rich King, owner of Echelon - is the real deal.
I hired a previous contractor for a complete remodel of my kitchen. This previous contractor was a nightmare and cause significant damage to my home, leaving my kitchen largely gutted and in a dangerous condition. Rich and his worker George came in, and got right to work cleaning up someone else's mess and then building me a drop dead beautiful kitchen. Rich meticulously repaired poor work and built me very high quality custom cabinets and island, seemlessly repaired my hard wood floors, installed lighting and other electrical and plumbing work. His pride and gifted craftsmanship was evident in every little detail.
Rich went above and beyond, not just in the quality of his workmanship, but in every respect. Rich was very responsive. He clearly and professionally answered all my questions. He arrived when he said he would and always kept his word. He was respectful of my home and kept it clean and protected.
Rich King is a true professional with honesty, integrity and remarkable talent. He restored my trust in contractors and without hesitation, I would highly recommend him to my friends and family. I know I was very fortunate to have found him!

"Your kitchen was certainly a mess, and the trouble you had trying to get it completed by your original contractor was a real nightmare. These situations can be difficult for everyone. I know most contractors won't take over a job like this because sometimes the homeowner becomes so concerned about having similar trouble with the new contractor that a tension can exist. In addition, the issue of having to spend additional money to get the job finished is never a pleasant one. I have to say though that working with you was an absolute pleasure - from start to finish. Right away we developed a good rapport that made it easy to discuss ideas and develop solutions - which helped reduce costs and let you have the kitchen you had always envisioned. I always appreciate working with someone who is interested in the details, because it's in the details that craftsmanship is defined. We had lots of details to sort through since we (Echelon) didn't start the renovation, but together we (you and I) identified them, decided what steps to take, and methodically worked through them. Your awareness of and attention to the variety and scope of those details is very impressive. Rich King, the owner, has been doing detailed door, electrical, plumbing
and carpentry for us for years now. I am so grateful to have ever
gotten his name from a near-by neighbor.
Rich was able to accomplish the work we needed done to several old doors
we installed in our home...to include adjusting them to function
better, installing the old mortise style lock sets and our authentically
old knobs, roses and escutcheons.
Rich's attention to detail and his willingness to explain the" why's and how comes" made working with him a dream come true!
He works with the skill and dedication of a true professional and is passionate about what he does.

I called Echelon and Rich called be back promptly and we set a time for him to come to my home to look at the problem. He arrived on time and said that he could fix it right then. The house is 27 years old and over the years we have made attempts to repair this particular cabinet . I actually don't think the turn table was installed properly when the house was built. Rich took the whole thing apart and fixed it properly. It actually works better now than when it was new. Thank you Rich

In April 2013 we had the misfortune of a fire at our residence. Fortunately ?Smoke Detectors Saved Lives? and our family evacuated safely without injury. We sustained fire damage on the front side lower level exterior, living room and wrap around porch of our home. The Fire Department had not completed rolling up the hoses before we were beleaguered by contractors in pursuit of the mitigation and restoration of our property. Many even implied and misrepresented that they were affiliated with and / or authorized by our insurance carrier to proceed with repairs. This experience left us suspect of all of these contractors. We were able to continue occupying our home
but distraught about the damage sustained and ensuing restoration disruption.
After establishing a repair cost with our Insurance Adjuster we contacted Echelon Technologies, Inc. Rich King met with us and encouraged my wife to describe here dream restoration ideas while listening attentively. She provided a few magazine photos and they brainstormed about a variety of options. Our consultation with Rich transformed our thoughts of the restoration project from an inconvenience to excitement about the enhancement possibilities. Instead of simply repairing the damage sustained we had opportunity to improve our homes features dramatically.
Rich promptly provided conceptual drawings incorporating and complementing the design concepts and features discussed along with cost estimates and options. We were relieved and had a high level of confidence that we had found the right company to complete our project. We ratified the contract and the restoration began.
The Echelon crew was very professional, and we felt very comfortable with them on-site at our residence.They were courteous, skilled craftsman and kept work areas clean. Rich was on site daily monitoring progress and ensuring that all design details were constructed as planned. When unanticipated ?explore and repair as needed? situations were encountered he quickly provided corrective action plans and remediation cost to cure. The quality of the craftsmanship was outstanding and our expectations were exceeded. Our entire experience with Echelon Technologies Inc, and Rich was exceptional and reaffirmed the adage that ?Business can and should be a pleasure?. What was previously a large builders grade wrap around porch with a beautiful view has been transformed into a casually elegant outdoor living space graced with refined architectural details which now rival the view. My wife and I are ecstatic!

When I purchased a new home, I hired Echelon to remodel the basement into a sanctuary where I could relax and entertain friends. Rick King, the owner, met with me to discuss what I was looking for. Based upon our conversation, he drew up the initial plans for what he thought I had in mind. With few exceptions, he captured exactly what I wanted. His work included designing the space, building it out, delivery and installation. The work involved an entertainment center that he constructed with several resourceful ideas on how to hide a hideous fuse box, and television shelving that allows it to be viewed from any angle. The build out also includes shelving and cabinets. I am a book collector so there is ample space for books, as well as the pottery I have collected from all over the world. The combination is brilliant. On the opposite wall, he framed bookcases around a stone fireplace. The craftsmanship is outstanding. Every piece was hand-crafted and included hand-carved rosettes and fluted molding at the top. The bottom of the units have cabinets for storage. He also designed and installed a lighting system. All work was completed on time and within budget.
After the downstairs was completed, I asked Rich to design two pieces of furniture for me: I wanted him to replicate a red Chinese trunk that was beyond repair, and a chest of drawers that needed to fill a large space. The finished pieces are gorgeous, and both were delivered and installed on time and within budget.
I chose Echelon over the other contractors I interviewed because of the professional manner of its President, Rich King. Rich got what I wanted. He was on time for meetings, he delivered when promised, and worked within my budget. Once it was installed, I asked for a couple of tweaks, and he gladly returned to make the changes. A very pleasant experience, and I learned a lot about space and design.

Great. Rich is a true professional - prompt, courteous, resourceful. Cares about the quality of his work. While not an electrician, per se, he has all the skills and know-how (including building code that others stumbled over). Was happy to use materials I provided and filled gaps where needed. Proposal was detailed but I thought it was a firm fixed price. Job must have been much bigger than he originally thought because the bill reflected Time and Materials and a much higher cost than was anticipated. Can't say this was his fault. But the surprise was all mine. Read your bids carefully. While he wasn't the lowest bidder (impressed with his knowledge and approach), he ended up being highest cost. Very few mods once the job got started.
Despite all that (I'll chalk it up to bad communications on my part) I'd use him again. Would definitely recommend him for his quality workmanship, resourcefulness and attitude. Not only skilled, but interesting.

The whole process from start to finish was a great experience. Rich is a knowledgeable craftsman who really cares about his work. The built-ins had a furniture-quality finish on them that is incredible. All of Rich's staff were courteous, hardworking fellows. It was a pleasure to have them working in my home.
