I asked for a diagnostic on a leak I didnt know where it was coming from. I was at work and my wife was home and told them I was to authorize any repairs. Plumber tried calling me. Left a voice mail and never spoke to me. (Have multiple voice mails incase anyone wants proof) At that point he should've paused and not done anything further after the diagnostic. He told my wife that I said to do what's needed (never spoke to him). Pulled the toilet replaced a wax seal (it was leaking where I couldn't see). I never told him to do any actual work. So basically took advantage of my wife being alone without someone else there. So I paid a $75 diag fee which is what I agreed to. Plus 225 for a wax seal replacement. A 10 dollar wax seal for 225 that I would've told them not to do. I've replaced plenty. I would avoid them.

They said they could not fix the leak but had to replace the faucet and water valve instead. I purchased what we needed but they still charged me $800 for two hours of labor. I feel this was overcharged.

It went very well. Everyone I spoke to has been very pleasant, they take pride in their work, and Frank performed excellent work and service at the house. Gave a written quote before starting. He had to leave so Public Works could come out and expose the water shut off valve. Came back the day after I called that it was ready, and completed the job. Frank showed me how to shut off the water supply to the house if I should need to. Stuck with the quote, as promised. I would highly recommend them, and would use them again. 5 stars!!

Excellent customer service from Frank the plumber! Friendly, efficient, did not waste any time taking care of all the tasks. Explained what he would be working on in which order & the why's behind everything. Loved him!! Would definitely refer him to all my neighbors & friends! As well as use this company again & request Frank!

I called J F Whitlow initially to identify the source of a leak under my crawl space on a Thursday. Apparently, the kitchen drain line in the crawl space, at the T, had a hole approximately an inch in diameter and was leaking into my crawl space. Derek made a recommendation for a fix that required me to execute some minor home demo so he may access the pipe and perform the repair.
The following Monday, Derek was able to come out first thing in the morning and make the necessary plumbing repairs to bring our kitchen back online. Despite the lovely aroma of kitchen grey water, Derek with a calm, cool, and somewhat comical approach, dived head first into the repair and within an hour, we had a kitchen drain that that was operating as intended.
This is the second time that I've used J F Whitlow on a service call. They are typically able to provide services the very next day after the initial phone call and I find them to be professional, courtesy, and reasonably priced.

I am extremely pleased with their service. I called them this morning and a technician would be available this morning. The technician was polite and arrived on time. The fan would not stop running and he diagnosed the problem as a faulty fan relay. This was quickly changed out. At this visit, I inquired about maintenance service agreement. He gave me a price for that and was willing to do it at this same visit. I was also pleased they applied my Angie's List discount. I would definitely use them again. The technician was very informative and respectful.

woke up to 1/4 inch water in my condo.
After shutting off water, I
called them and send I "thought" a pipe had burst. Frank was there
within 90 minutes, trouble hot the problem, and had to go get piping to
repair. Came back ib 20 minutes, fix the problem and explaind the
plastic tubing was to blame.
I told him I had a coupon from Angie list and he honored it.
Very professional and personal.

This service call went extremely well from start to finish.  I called at 10:00 a.m. and a technician came to our house before 1:00 p.m.  He called prior to his arrival as requested.  He was aware of the problem, having been fully informed by the person who responded to my phone call.  Once he arrived, the technician, who is a master plumber, installed a new thermostat which remedied the problem.  He worked efficiently and professionally, accessing the water heater through the garage door so not to bother the three small but vocal dogs who tried to welcome him!  He also brought booties to wear in case he had to enter the house.  Once he fixed the problem, he explained all that had been done, went over the charges and deducted the amount of the Angie's List coupon I provided.  I will certainly use this company in the future, and I appreciate the professionalism displayed by everyone with whom I had contact.

Called and said the were on there way.Arrived earlier than scheduled, very polite. Faucet looks great.

Overall I was very pleased with the service call.  They responded the same day to the original call, and came back out 2 days later to replace the faucet.   They were very clean, professional, and quick, as well as very reasonably priced.

I called JF Whitlow after another highly rated plumber turned me down because I live in Suffolk.  Now I'm glad he did.  After having a couple of outrageous water bills and trying the standard measures to troubleshoot the issue (leaky toilets, etc.) I called a plumber for assistance.  When I mentioned the problem, an unidentified leak somewhere in my supply line, he told me I'd have to get the leak location identified before he could perform the work.  Once I'd done this I called him back and after learning I lived in Suffolk he refused the job.  Looking in Angie's List I found JF Whitlow, which was in Portsmouth, much closer to my house.  While this company only had 3 reviews at the time they were all positive.  I called at 8:30 a.m. and had a plumber at my door at 12:30.  He did a thorough and professional job.  He was clean, pleasant and courteous.  When he learned about me paying for leak detection he offered the advice that their company could have likely performed the whole job just by noting a wet area where the leak existed.  Wish I'd called JF Whitlow in the beginning now.  The bottom line is this.  I will call them for all future plumbing needs and will gladly give my endorsement to anyone in need of plumbing services.  I am a perfectionist, so my endorsement means these guys have proved to me that they are a cut above the average service provider.

Requested emergency after-hours (calls were made after 7:30pm)  response.  Left message on phone.  Call was returned in about 15 minutes.  Technician listened to issue (broken shower valve we had attempted to replace on our own requiring water main to be shut off until professional repair), he was able to suggest pre-work we could do (cutting an access panel in wall) so his portion of work would be quicker (require less man-hours).  Overall repair which consisted of removal of broken valve from copper piping and fitting of new (homeowner provided) valve.   New valve was relatively quickly replaced and technician was able to suggest a few tips to help with future owner repairs and offered suggestions for possible modifications.  Cost was reasonable due to time of night and man-hours expended.   Will save the the company's phone number for future (hopefully will be able to avoid) after hour emergencies.
