Peninsula Home Inspections

I needed a home inspection for the purchase of a home in Newport News, VA and contracted with Peninsula Home Inspection  through the recommendation of my realtor.  I have purchased a home in the Newport News Area before and used another service.
They did accomplish the inspection in a timely manner.
Although they provided a military discount, the product provided was an eight page PDF with pictures of only things wrong with the home and a few digital photos of each of the items.  I expected at least a three ring binder with a checklist of all the items inspected not just what was wrong.  So for the $250 I paid, each piece of paper cost me $30!!!!  I was concerned about the condition of the wood in the crawlspace, as would anyone who is buying a home in termite country in southern Virginia, not a thing was mentioned and I had to contact him for further information.
I had questions about what was inspected and what was not and it took the individual three days to return my call, not at all what I expected for paying for the inspection in advance.
He did provide simple data on what appliances were in the house, which I already knew about since I did multiple walkthroughs prior to putting an offer on the home.  For Instance, he indicated the AC/Heating System worked not much else.
I also expected a complete look at the entire house, to include the irrigation system.  The Inspector did not look at the irrigation system claiming that he did not want to try it out to avoid possible freezing of the pipes....uhh...the inspection was accomplished three days before the beginning of the summer!!!!
Although I used the report to get items repaired prior to closing, I was disappointed with the product and price.
