Central Virginia Chimney Chap

Provider came to do chimney sweep and inspection. During inspection we were given a quote of around $600 for two chimney caps and re-surfacing the crowns. The appt. for mid-December came and went and nobody showed up. No one called to explain. For the past three months I have been trying to get ahold of the owner to get a refund back. He has told me that he will but nothing has come. This check was deposited almost four months ago! Still no refund. Do not use this company.

It has been 2 months since we prepaid for the service and NOBODY came to fix our chimney. DO NOT deal with this company! They take your money and disappear. Several phone calls and messages left-no result. I will file with BBB and let you know the outcome.

Never completed city permit certifications. Permit expired and never inspected. Chimneys are now unusable



Smoke blows back into the room when fireplaces used.



Many no shows when supposed to come to fix the problem. He finally showed up and inserted two bricks



that he said were causing the problem but the problem persisted.  He then stated he did not know what the problem was.



Finally called a competent state fire inspector who noted multiple code violations and unsafe chimneys.



Totally defective craftsmanship. Many code violations. He was not properly licensed for the amount of work contracted.



He falsely claimed to be licensed and insured. He was licensed only for  work up to $7000. His license was expired when checked by the fire inspector

The provider was initially responsive in providing a quote.  The price quoted of $139.99, which included a discount coupon from a local flyer, was prepaid.  However three separate appointments for the service were never met.  After the third missed appointment, the provider no longer responded to phone calls or voice messages requesting a refund.  Eventually filed a claim with Better Business Bureau to receive a refund. The provider replied to BBB that a refund would be sent, but it has yet to arrive as of this writing.

I was able to get an appointment the day I called.  The two workmen, Jonathan and Aaron, were very polite and clean.  They wiped their feet, covered the hearth and floor with tarps, went up on the roof to inspect and clean, and examined the firebox.  They found 3 tiny cracks which they promptly repaired.
