We installed two (2) Trane XV-20i systems (3 ton/ea). The work included new compressors and matched Trane air handlers, as well as the new Trane touch-panel thermostats. We no longer hear our system(s) when running and the house is remaining comfortable at our thermostat settings.
We have a "bonus room" over our garage that required the installation of a new return and and additional air supply/vent; the jury is still out on whether that will be enough to keep that room cool/warm enough based on the season. [NOTE: We have received an estimate to do an separate "zone" for the upstairs to accommodate that room; work would involve installing two dampers to direct/divert airflow to that room based on separate thermostat setting in that room.]
