After reading reviews on Angi, I just happened to mention Serenescapes at a local stone company and there was a resounding “you can’t go wrong with Eric!” A stone company will not recommend someone for hardscaping if they don’t know what they’re doing. Serenescapes designed and built a retaining wall and patio in our sloping backyard. The landscaper and his staff were very professional, hard working, and efficient. The work was beautifully done so we and our neighbors are very pleased.

Eric and his team did a great job with all of the landscaping projects at my house. Starting with the patio, the job was well explained and well executed. It was a fair price in comparison to the other quotes I had. They designed a landscape plan that all of the neighbors have complemented. They take pride in a job well done and making your house more beautiful.

Serenscapes has been helping us keep our lawn and hedges healthy for about three years now. They have always performed the work they said they would, on time and well performed. Will continue to hire them and am happy to recommend them.

Eric Shrieves and the whole Serenescapes crew did an excellent job installing our patio. Notable qualities are (1) quality of work, (2) value for price, and (3) flexibility. I'll explain each in turn. The Serenescapes crew took their time, and carefully installed/ laid out the timbers, patio slope, trims, and the patterns of pavers. Where the patio met the door sills, and the outdoor stairs bottom step riser, they took time to cut additional trim so that the overall appearance was top notch. I appreciated this attention to detail. I selected Serenscapes because I sensed from the initial consultation that while they were not the least expensive or most expensive bid I had received for this project, they would provide the most value. Looking at the quality of the work, I was proven correct. In terms of flexibility, projects often have some sort of unanticipated event, or something to do with the local site conditions, and Eric and the crew were flexible and rolled with the local site conditions. Two other important points for me: I got plenty of communication/updates, so I always know what was happening. We texted, so I knew what to expect, and when. Second, the worksite was always kept neat, which is very important to me.. After the job was done, the yard was seeded and covered with straw.

Awesome. Eric and his team are professional and pay close attention to detail. Eric is a visionary and sees possibilities that I never imagined.

He bailed out of the project without giving a reason. We submitted plans to get a grant for a permeable driveway. Driveway was to be removed;back yard regraded; retaining wall built; permeable paver driveway put in. We got the grant but then he backed out of the whole project. When I requested a reason why in an email, I got no response.

Eric and his guys did a great job. First thing I noticed is Eric is extremely responsive and prompt. Second thing is he explained everything in depth with options. Finally the job itself was great. I had a backyard that had pretty much turned into a mess from mud and poor drainage. Water would just sit for weeks on end to the point that it would start to stink. He made several drainage adjustments to my back yard to include installing a french drain and then I had a hardscape patio installed in place of the the constant sloppy mud I have had for years. The finished product was great I certainly would give it 5 stars and recommend him.

Eric and his crew were great to work with and did a fantastic job. When we first met with Eric to discuss the project, we described what we wanted but didn't have a detailed plan. He was able to work with us along the way as the project took shape, making slight modifications where needed. Easy to work with and very knowledgeable. Also responsive - usually not more than a day or two went by without hearing something, and if so, he was quick to respond to a call, email, or text. The project experienced some delays (a week or two) but this was due to rainy weather and beyond their control. The work required installation of a lower retaining wall and filling the area behind it to bring to grade level with the driveway, installation of pavers for a walkway and patio, installation of a second wall using dry stacked stone, and installation of exterior porch steps with bluestone treads. They kept the work area organized, used the fill dirt left over from excavation creatively to build up some eroded areas, seeded and strawed impacted areas, and left everything in good shape. I recommend them highly.

We installed a large patio in our backyard. Eric and the crew gave us an accurate quote and completed the job on time. They were also able to make adjustments to the plan as we went along, without much hassle. The workmanship is of very high quality.

No one has ever gotten back in touch with me. At least they should have the decency to say they are not interested and not leave me hanging.

The entire process was wonderful. Very shortly after contacting Serenescapes, Eric called back and set up an appointment to look at the site with a few days. He was very knowledgeable about the problem. He gave a verbal estimate at the time, but said that he would price it out and send a written proposal. The price did not deviate from his verbal estimate. We were very happy with the price and his discussion of how to proceed. We got the written estimate on 9/25/18 and the work was completed on October 13 (that was despite numerous days of rain in between those dates. Eric and his crew showed up as promised and completed the job within a couple hours. We were very happy with the professionalism of his crew and the quality of their work which included time to not just dump the rocks but to carefully place them. The project has stopped the erosion that was occurring and is aesthetically pleasing. We would definitely hire them again and are planning on seeking a bid for them to take over the lawn and shrub care starting in 2019.

Had to email to find out if when I was one their schedule. Was given a two day window but they got behind and did not come either day. I emailed again and was given another date. They arrived late in the day and completed the aeration and seeding. Then came back the next morning to transplant and mulch. I had to contact them again to find out when they were going to return to complete the work. Will have to wait to see if the grass comes up.

Eric and crew did a fantastic job! They cleaned up my mulched back yard, placed new mulch and cleaned out a bunch of leaves. They were great to work with. Highly recommended!

Eric was exceptionally knowledgeable and was quickly able to assess the problems in our landscaped beds that we were unaware off. Several plants were in a bad state because of fungal infestation and overgrowth. There were two large trees in the woods growing over our lawn that he was able to identify as invasive which he recommend removing. He was punctual, listened to our expectations, and gave us an estimate promptly. Although we decided to go with him, we later felt it was too much of an investment at this time since we had other major deck and porch repairs to complete. He was very professional and courteous throughout the process.

Eric came out to inspect the property, and thoughtfully walked us through which branches he could prune to not only pull them off our roof (extending the life of it), but also to improve their health overall. He also identified several smaller trees in need of major TLC, but rather than tearing them out, he recommended ways to bring them back. We hired him to do the work, and are glad we did! Eric and crew showed up on time and completed the work just as discussed. Although I was initially shocked by the amount of pruning, I got used to it quickly and feel confident we made a good decision. They were a pleasure to work with, and we hope to bring them onboard for future landscaping projects.

They're wonderful people. They did some work for me. They were extremely quick, efficient, and they didn't cost me very much.  It looks great. They did a really nice job. I plan to use them again. They're very informative. I wanted to do more. He said wait until some other things are done. He's very helpful. He said I could take your money now, but I'll be back anyway.

Eric came over on initial visit and did a soil sample test and we went from there on what to do with my unfinished back area. We agreed on a price and he stuck to that and even worked in military discount for me. He and his crew did a great job with the back yard. Also they incorporated two big boulders that were pulled from the back yard into the front yard. I wish this crew was the same ones that put in the original lawn with the construction company that built the home.

This was a complex and obviously very important feature to our home. Eric and his crew were excellent in every aspect: design, execution, responsiveness, etc. Eric made several suggestions that greatly improved the final result, including installation of a drainage system, and conduit for electrical feed for an unrelated project (this far sightedness probably saved me much time, money, and future aggivation!). His crew was hard working and shared Eric's personable nature. He is very responsive, whether email, texting, phone.

We spent about $2500. He is efficient, he is top notch when it comes to planning, taking the bull by the horns and recommending what we needed to do and they were great. They were stuff I never thought of.

From my perspective, everything went according to plan.  During the project, Eric had to substitute one part of the materials when the delivery of a product was not of the quality he was expecting (entire order of stone).  This resulted in some redesigning/replanning.  Everything was discussed with me and explained.  The alternative that was designed and installed was just as great as the original.  I much appreciated Eric's attention to detail on the stone.  Due to the location for that particular product, the defects would have been visible.  One other point on the materials.  The concrete steps used came in at a lower price than originally estimated due to the factory lowering its price.  Eric made me aware of the lower price and adjusted the final costs accordingly.  
I found his workers courteous and hard working.  Communication from Eric as the job progressed was outstanding.  As you would expect of a job this size, there were changes/adjustments that had to be made.  Each were discussed with me (and I with Eric) explaining the why and how.  For a job this large and complex, there were so many things that could have gone wrong; nothing did.
I mentioned the price adjustments for the steps above.   At the end of the job, Eric did a careful accounting of all costs and compared them (line by line) to the original estimate explaining all the differences (both direction).  I was in complete agreement with his numbers and appreciated this attention to detail.  It made me feel very comfortable with the price of the project.
I was also impressed by Eric's knowledge and expertise and how he utilizes them in the project.  In other words, he knows his stuff.   If by chance he doesn't know the answer to a question, he finds out.  He also has many local contacts he can suggest that know their stuff as well.  (I had questions unrelated to the project concerning grass seed and other things.)
I do not hesitate to recommend Serenescapes to anyone.  This is a quality product and one I will enjoy for the life of the house.  I plan to use them again myself for other (smaller) projects as well.  
One recommendation for anyone having this type work done, plan well in advance of when you want the project completed.  We started Fall 2015 with a desired completion of Spring 2016 to allow for the complexity of the project and the weather.  You can't and don't want to rush hardscaping.  If you have a known due date, be sure and communicate it.  I have no complaints with the work or the schedule and I'm ready to go this spring despite the abnormally wet fall.  Eric kept in contact to let me know when they couldn't work, why and when they would be back.  He monitors the weather constantly and plans according to the forecast.  I appreciated this communication.

At the present time I am very happy with the result!  It is too soon to say whether the plants will endure, however.  There will be a third stage of the project, planting around my lamp post.  I will post you on the results of that experience and the health of the present plants at the completion of the project.
