quality was exceptional, slower than scheduled but worth it

From the first phone call to the completion of the work, Jon and crew were professional and wonderful to work with. He returned phone calls promptly, showed up on time, finished on time, and did what he said he'd do. The price was very reasonable and the workmanship and attention to detail were great! The basement floor was very hard to level and he took the time to do it right. I would recommend J6Design without hesitation to anyone who wants the job done right.

From start to finish, the project went very well. John came at the time he said he would, looked over the work to be done and gave us an estimate. We found the price to be fair for the work that needed to be done. The damaged boards were replaced, the two screen doors were replaced and the entire exterior deck was painted again.

Very nice person, just took 3 months instead of 1 month, as indicated in contract. Some work needed redone, which he did. He had lots of daily trips to Lowe's and we had to remind him of various items needed, as discussed at time of contract.

Jon is one of the most dependable contractors I have used since coming to Charlottesville 5 years ago. He removed an old deck off the back of my house and added on a new pressure treated deck. I always knew when he would be there and he was meticulous about his work. Because of how well that went, he was the only one I called when I needed a bathroom remodeled. He did the tile floor and installed a new vanity, light fixtures, etc. He definitely gets my recommendation!

Jon came out to discuss the job. He had some very helpful suggestions, and it was on his advice that we decided to have the support boards added to the stairs so that the treads will not split in the future. He provided an estimate and, by request, broke it down so that we could see the cost for all of the separate tasks. We decided which of the tasks we wanted him to do (which was most of them; there was one thing-adding screening underneath the deck-that we decided to do ourselves) and he wrote up a contract. The work took a little longer than planned to complete (about 5 work days spread out over a little more than a week), but there were a couple of days with rain in the forecast that delayed things, so we still felt that his timeliness rated as "good". Jon kept an extremely neat work site. He also had excellent and impressive attention to detail. He made sure to touch up all the paint, he adjusted the number of coats of stain to make different parts of the deck match up well (some of which had been stained before with another color), and basically was just very careful about doing things right and well. He had a young assistant working with him for several of the days, but he carefully checked his assistant's work to make sure the quality was up to his standards. One thing we really appreciated was Jon's willingness to use environmentally-friendly treated lumber from Nature Neutral, by our request. Jon was also good about keeping us updated on the job progress by phone and by email, and he followed up after the job was complete to make sure we were happy with the final outcome. He seemed trustworthy and we felt comfortable having him working on the house even when we were not home. We had not had this type of work done before, and we did not get another estimate, so we don't know how to grade the price, other than that we were happy with the product and felt that the quality of service was excellent. We would definitely hire J6 Design again for home remodeling jobs, any additional deck work, or general handyman jobs.

John is the owner and workman and he did the job himself. He tore out a small ceiling drop in the bathroom, rewired to put in 2 new lights and replaced the drywall. He replaced 2 bathroom fans and a bedroom ceiling fan. He fixed a folding closet door and a broken kitchen drawer. He cleaned up after each day he was here.

We contacted Jon after a friend referred him to do some basic carpentry work and painting. After his quote and seeing his finished work, we decided to hire him to do numerous other odd jobs around the property including installing a Sunsetter Awning. The awning was challenging and he suggested changing some of the ideas that I had as to it's placement. We incorporated all his suggestions and the finished project is outstanding He was always prompt, courteous and professional. If he told us that he would be here at a certain time, he was there. If he needed to make a change to his schedule (usually due to weather), he always called us and gave us an updated time of arrival.

Jon always over-delivers. I had asked him to build the flower boxes, then I would paint them before he mounted them. Without telling me, he went ahead and painted them, installed mesh netting that I didn't even realize I would need, and mounted them. I am very pleased!

Jon is a pro. He worked and worked to make sure the door would close all the way on its own. I told him I would make sure the door completely closed, but he wouldn't hear of leaving the job until he felt it was done.

Jon was my savior in this case. When I discovered the leak, it was a weekend and I was frantically trying to get ready for an extended out of country business trip. I simply could not turn off the water to the whole house for an extended period of time. He came right over, stopped the leak, and fixed the problem.

Jon does quality work - he underpromises and overdelivers. Goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Jon is great, not only at decks but lots of other home maintenance as well. Wouldn't hesitate to refer him to anyone.
