Description of Work: It started with an interview with Architect Arif Hodzic, the father of Branko the General Contractor for the renovation and addition, back in March 2013. We were very inpressed with their previous work which the family in Alexandria were only too happy to show us the results of the three (3) other expansions and remodellings the family had the Hodzics do. I contacted one other firm after we had developed plans to see if the cost was in line with industry standards, which they confirmed. Construction started in May of 2013. |It is now November 2015, and we haven't finished the punch list. We adore Arif and Vuki and Branko and the triplet grandchildren that have upstaged our little project, but I have to give the General Contractor an Incomplete. |One of the problems is illustrated by this little maxim - a General Contractor can not fire his plumbing subcontractor when that sub is also the bass player in his band. |I think that Branko would be happier just flipping houses, buying remodelling and reselling, so he could be with his wonderful family. |But this is silly, to still have a punch list to go through. They would argue that we moved in while the project was not finished, but nothing particularly has been done since New Years Day 2014, to finish up the project. |Don't get me wrong, they did a breathtaking job on the design, but the garage floor was poured four inches too high, for example, and the new bathroom configuration was seen as troublesome even to the other contractor on their walk-through. |Sometimes I am in awe of this building [we made it handicap accessible] and the tremendous unifying vision the architect and I shared [when seen from above, our home resembles 'homeplate'] and other times i think, there is still no knob on the door from the garage to the house. |I have been holding out on giving my experience with Hodzic Contracting to this review site, for fear of jeopardizing the wonderful friendliness of our two families. |But you asked for a grade, and Incomplete was not one of the options. |

He not only provided us with the best quote, but he also spent a long time talking with us and answering all our questions, even questions not related to the specific work we were hiring them to do. The work crew arrived early on the day we scheduled and they politely waited outside until our appointment time to knock on the door. The work was done in less time than we had expected and the quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail were excellent. They even left the house cleaner than when they found it!
