A beautiful job done by professionals. It was a real pleasure working with them, and we will soon be contacting them to remodel our bathrooms. Strongly recommended!
Worked with Nolan and his guys on a complete master bath remodel. Nolan was responsive and was competitive price wise. They communicated very well through out the project and caught a few small things that, while may not have been needed, added that extra touch that makes a space feel much better and of higher quality. I have a had a few contractors do different jobs around the house and the quality of work Nolan's team did was head and shoulders above the rest. He was upfront about pricing and when changes were made he was more then fair with the costs and timelines. I can honestly say i was extremely happy with them from beginning to end and would use them again in a heartbeat. They did all the little (and big) things that make the difference in the end.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of Master Bath
Nolan and his team (specifically Andrew) were the best contractors I have ever worked with. First of all, they are true craftsmen and their work was of superior quality - they were meticulous and paid attention to every detail necessary to preserve our old house. They also thoroughly explained the additional work needed, and were patient with our requests. BCR was not the lowest of the three estimates we received, though it was very competitive. But the quality and thoughtfulness of their work far exceeded my expectations making them the best bang for the buck (in my opinion).
Description of Work: Converted an existing closet to a walkway between two rooms to open up our house's floor plan. Upon discovering termite damage, they rebuilt the damaged joists and secured the foundation. Also repaired three leaks that were discovered in the wall. Kitchen refresh including a new wall, new backsplash, and new hinges.
Perfect project. Very pleased. Nolan Brook's company: Brook Custom Remodeling is reliable, skillful, responsible, careful, communicative and smart. The various crews were managed well and the crews arrived when expected. The purchased project materials were provided as requested/expected and were installed competently. Brook's Custom built us a beautiful new bathroom within the time frame we agreed upon and we enjoyed the experience and are very happy.
Description of Work: Complete Master Bath redesign, removal and renovation including new pocket door and doorway, ceiling, tile floor, tile walls, bathtub, toilet, shower and all plumbing fixtures: sinks, rain shower and sprayer, stand alone tub fixture.

Nolan is very personable and gave us a lot of ideas and options for our built-ins and also suggested some ideas for improving lighting around the house in general. His team used our garage to built and fabricate the built-ins and the work as a whole probably took about 5-6 total days. The NoVA Blizzard of 2016 hit right during the middle of the work but Nolan made it very easy to reschedule and was very responsive to our needs and questions. The built-ins look great and were exactly what we had envisioned. This was a smaller job for Nolan but he seemed to give us a lot of attention and was very easy to work with. We went back and forth a few times about the scope of work but Nolan was never pushy. The price seems fair given the amount of work that was performed. We plan to use Nolan again for bathroom and kitchen work.
Description of Work: Built, installed, and painted custom built-in cabinets on either side of brick fireplace. Built-in cabinets included one side that houses a flat-screen TV; Nolan and his team installed conduit for wires, TV mount, and soundbar mount. Installed gimbal and some recessed lighting in two areas. Built and installed crown molding to match existing molding around fireplace.

Great Work! Very easy to get in touch with (unlike other contractors in the area). Like all remodeling, things did not go exactly as planned, Nolan was very proactive and listened to our concerns and he went the extra mile ensuring we were happy with the final product. His crew is very professional and was always on time. I enthusiastically recommend him and will most certainly use him again!!!

We found Nolan to be very honest and easy to work with. From our very first meeting, he was positive and creative with ideas for our remodel within the confines of our budget. We appreciated his willingness to work with the budget we gave him, providing us with options throughout the process, while not pushing any add-ons. Nolan's crew was on time, dependable and hardworking. They did quality work. Whenever a problem arose, such as nail pops through the living room ceiling below the project site, they performed the restoration quickly and beautifully. We were very satisfied with the work and they came in on budget and on time (two weeks, as promised). His painting crew did such a good job that we rehired them to do a major wallpaper removal/painting job. We were happy to use and support a small, local company and would certainly work with Nolan again. We highly recommend Brook Custom Remodeling.

I had a wonderful experience with Nolan Brook, who was recommended to me by a friend. I appreciated how honest and helpful he was from the first meeting, particularly because this was my first experience with any sort of remodeling project. I met with two other contractors and Nolan was way better both in price and friendliness. I had two bathrooms in my condo remodeled and I'm absolutely thrilled with the result. Nolan was helpful, responsive, and accessible throughout the whole process, and he was patient with my constant questions and advice-seeking and mind-changing. The team who worked with Nolan was great, very friendly and careful. I was nervous having strangers in my home while I wasn't there, but they were fantastic. Overall, I very highly recommend!!

I have used this company twice and gave them great reviews. However, I contacted Nolan recently to do a small job - painting, retiling and new baseboards for a laundry closet. He quoted me an outrageous price ($1100) for a job that would have taken less than a day. When I questioned him, he said that because he was so busy he had to "add $100 to this and that." All he had to say was he didn't have the time. Or, better yet, he should have said he would try to fit it in when he was available. I have recommended him to five friends - three have given him work, two, a couple of big jobs. And this is the thanks I get. I was very patient when he made mistakes on my previous project - my master bath. He forgot to order the glass shower doors delaying the project by two weeks. And five months after it was done, I had a huge leak that involved getting an emergency plumber and having Nolan's company coming to replace half my dining room ceiling and other drywall, inconveniencing me for four days. I was very understanding about that. And now, to be treated like my business doesn't matter to him? Well, that speaks volumes about how he cares about his customers. When I confronted him about his high quote for the laundry closet, I was given a lukewarm apology, told I was one of his nicest customers and told to find someone else. I have been a good customer and would have continued to be - and to recommend him. But not anymore. Very disappointing.

Nolan has done a lot of work for us over the years, including expertly finishing a bathroom that my husband could not finish. He is completely professional and honest and easy to have around the house. He shows up when he says he will and works until the job is finished. While we were overseas (for 3 years) he agreed to be the contact in case our tenants had a problem. He was always able to help them out in a timely fashion and we were completely satisfied that we were charged a fair price for work well done.
Description of Work: Nolan located and repaired a broken water pipe in the master bathroom this past very cold winter. He moved the pipe upwards so that it, hopefully, will not freeze again. (It has frozen every year that we have owned the house but had never burst.) He also replaced the soffit panel, the insulation and the water shut-off valve and the washing machine valves.

Nolan and his team were fantastic! They came in to rescue a master bathroom/bedroom remodeling project that another contractor had dropped the ball on, and I couldn't be happier or more relieved! Nolan had excellent ideas on how to accomplish my goals, he did extensive electrical work to prepare for a pre-fab steam shower unit that I bought (which I highly recommend), his team installed a heated tile floor and vanity and lots of little extras and everything works great. My master suite looks very high-end now :-). The price was totally reasonable for such complex work, the work crews (remodeling and drywall/painting) were excellent, and Nolan was on-site often enough that I was confident in his oversight of his team. It couldn't have gone better - we did have one issue with the shower that Nolan quickly identified and fixed. Beyond being so happy with this project, I am thrilled to have found a "no job too big or too small" company that I can call for everything from now on!

Re-grouted tile, replaced broken tiles, re-caulked tub/floor area, installed new tile-carpet transition at the door, and cleaned up everything just in time for a refinancing appraisal, all just a couple days after my initial 'urgent' request and at a very fair price. Nolan Brook's team really came through for me!
Description of Work: Repaired numerous aspects of bathroom.
We moved into our house a little over two years ago and have used Nolan and his team for all of our handiwork around the house. He's done everything from putting in a cat door to removing tile and putting in tub surrounds in two of our bathrooms. He comes and gives an estimate and will let you know if there is a better and/or cheaper way to do something. His estimates have always been fair and spot-on and he and his team come when they say they will, do the job and clean up afterwards. I will continue to use Nolan for all our fix-ups around the house!
Description of Work: Removed tile from bathroom and put up a tub surround; switched the water lines from one end of the tub to the other; removed and installed two bathroom fans; created a storage space in the wall; removed a soap dispenser in kitchen sink; removed phone line jack in the kitchen; put up window blinds in stone wall; replaced front hall closet door.

Everyone always arrived on time (!!) After signing contracts, the company owner sent me a checklist for ordering bathroom parts,so I wouldn't forget anything; very helpful! The owner always responded quickly to any questions I had. The only small glitch was settled quickly and well, from our perspective. All the workers were pleasant and easy to work with. I work from home and didn't find them at all disruptive to my work routine. The work did tend to spread out a bit further into the house than we had originally expected, so that's something we'll discuss before work begins on other projects we hope to do with this provider.
Description of Work: Gutted and rebuilt an old bathroom into a lovely new spa-like bath. (The price was a little higher than we originally hoped, but it included an expensive custom glass door for the (large) shower.)

The showerstall had been framed and dry walled by someone else, and not very good. Angles and corners were not done very well. However, Nolan and his men were able to make due: Installed an additional waterproof membrane, and tiled the entire shower beautifully! In the kitchen he installed 16"x8" tiles, again beautifully done. Even at an angle so that it looks even better. There was a slight hickup with the french door that was immediately corrected when addressed!

Nolan and his team are great. He is perhaps the world's friendliest contractor and is interested in helping solve your problem not pad his fee. In our master suite, there were no doors, just archways, into the bedroom and bathroom from the dressing room, and we wanted doors. Nolan came out, took a look, talked through the issue with me, and provided us an estimate for the work that was very reasonable. He was able to have his team come to install the doors on a day when I was working from home already to meet another service provider, which was convenient. They worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves well. We still need to schedule the patching/painting part of the job, so it's not 100% done, but that's our fault, not his. Though he does eventually respond to emails, phone or text is by far the better way to contact Nolan; the delay in responding to emails was at first a little annoying, but now knowing that I should just call instead makes it no big deal.
Description of Work: Install two interior doors; remove and preserve for reuse original mouldings; securely hang a heavy flat screen television; patch various drywall holes.
From the start to the finish, Nolan and his crew were on time, efficient and professional. The estimates were given and he stuck to them. Nolan adjusted and added to the project as we requested. It was conducted in a timely manner and extremely well done. I would recommend them to anyone needing custom remodeling.
Description of Work: Nolan and his crew were honest, hardworking and professional. We had then remodel our 1940's home. It included opening up walls, removing post and moving plumbing to other locations. The basement was also remodeled and they added a laundry room. We had hardwood floors sanded, stained and new ones added to match the 70 year old floors. Nolan personally added new stair railings and post. It was a job done extremely well. I couldn't have asked for a better person to work with.

He is terrific. He is reliable and honest with pricing. He has good craftsmanship with his work. He is a good problem solver. Overall he is just a pleasant guy to work with. We have recommended him to several neighbors.
Description of Work: He remodeled the master bathroom.
While overseas, I decided to have the kitchen remodeled and some closets added in the bedroom. Oddly enough, older buildings don't have the type of closets we desire. Nolan came in, worked with my proxy and myself on the design, the Homeowner's Association (the man is a saint) when issues came up. There were a FEW issues. Nolan was available when I called from the Middle East and updated me or addressed concerns. The work overall, would have taken only 4 weeks except for a few side tracks and he was able to adjust his schedule to work with that. The project required working with removal of the old kitchen and the wall to open up it up to the rest of the room. New slate floor, additional & updated outlets, new cabinets, granite counter top, install new appliances and new closets in the bedroom. I'm very happy with the results.
Description of Work: I love the work Nolan did in the remodel of my kitchen. His integrity and flexibility are some of his strengths. I had an issue a few months later and he came back to fix it. One of the workers had flushed something down the drain which caused issues with the toilet. Nolan sent in the plumber and once he saw what caused the problem, he paid for the plumber. As with any contractor, you do need to look over the work daily to make sure no shortcuts are taken. It's hard for another contract to keep up with all the workers on a project.
