Wilkinson Services Inc

The moisture seal work under the house appears to have gone okay but the resulting damage to our property by the dump truck that brought the sand and Wilkinson's refusal to make the repairs has been a nightmare.  I wanted to withhold funds from the final payment due of $2200 on the original contract to cover the damage, but the principals, Sean Loftis and Shep Wilkinson, strenuously objected. Therefore, I added a mutually agreed on clause to the contract that Wilkinson would cover the damages (later quoted at $1575) either through their insurance or directly by the company.  Their insurance company reviewed the claim and decided that its policy did not cover the damage.  So I turned back to them and asked for payment of damages through an email, a fax and a phone message, which they ignored.  With no recourse left, I contacted an attorney and filed suit for recovery of damages; however, the registered agent for Wilkinson, Sean Loftis, refused to accept service since he lived behind a locked gate and would not answer the call. That required extraordinary measures to go through the State Corporation Commission to get service for a court date of January 18 in Norfolk General District Court. No one showed up to speak for the defendant, so the judge granted a default judgement in the amount of $1575 for recovery of my out of pocket costs that have already been expended for the repairs.  Now, additional time and effort will be needed to collect on the judgement. 
  In short, this company, in my opinion, has conducted itself in an unethical, unprofessional  and despicable manner.  As such, I would advise Angie's List members and anyone else to avoid doing business or becoming entangled with this company.
