Hired them to tare down the whole back wall, replace the existing frame and deteriorated existing beam and and hang new walls. The project was top notch. They showed up on time and ready to work which they did very efficiently, The Pro was very thorough and walked me through every step of the plan to get it done, which they did exactly as described to me. Final project turned out great! They cleaned up all the debris afterwards and the yard looked like nobody had been working there at all.

I hired Hawkins Enterprises for a complete renovation of a one-bedroom apartment in a duplex I own. The prior tenant had developed mental and physical health issues and trashed the place into a complete shambles. Hawkins quoted me a fair price for the renovation which included tearing out and replacing the kitchen and bath, re-plastering, installing new carpet and vinyl flooring, installing all new electric and plumbing, fixing squeaky flooring and installing some new doors. His tradesmen did good work and were timely. Mr. Hawkins had good suggestions that improved the overall renovation. I met with and called him numerous times during the project and always found him to be available and receptive to hearing any concerns or changes I had in mind. The apartment looks terrific and was easily re-rented. It was a pleasure dealing with Hawkins Enterprises and I would definitely hire him again in the future.

Bathroom remodel with shower, vanity(as part of double vanity), accessible toilet, door widening, barn door, and cabinets. I appreciate the effort that Mr. Hawkins brought to the job and the skill and dedication demonstrated by Q, Cowboy and Mr. McPherson. Issues were resolved and we have a beautiful bathroom.

I can not express how pleased I am with Hawkins Enterprise. From the moment he showed up to evaluate the cost for my repairs, and the promptness in getting back with an estimate, he surely impressed me. Actually I was working with five different contractors for estimates and Will Hawkins was my selection. He is very professional, on time, communicates well, honest and gets the job done at reasonable cost. I am very happy I found this contractor!

Mr. H. is not a man of his word. One major thing was the incomplete/improperly done electrical work. There are three locations in the family room that control the recess lighting. None has a dimmer switch. There are three switches by the back door. One is for the recess lights. One is for the outside light and one is for the outside receptacles on the deck. THERE IS NO SWITCH TO CONTROL THE CEILING FAN ON THE DECK. Only a remote controls the ceiling fan. What happens when that remote stops working ? Mr. Hs suggestion was to take it out of the kitty. In other words, pay for something, we already paid for. The electrical work was never completed. Additionally, he never addresses all the damages to existing structure. We never said anything about change orders, or completion time that we extended. When we paid him a large amount for a draw, there was no one here working for a solid week. When we asked him about that, his reply was, Theres a good reason for that. Yes. It was because he was starting another job, and needed our money to pay for materials. We know this, because we saw his vehicles parked at another location. Basically, he used us, and we know that, but he didnt even have the decency to fix all the things that were damaged, despite telling us none of this would happen. If everything we paid for would have been done properly, we would be singing his praises, but that is not the case. Before he walked off the job, he said, Theres just no pleasing YOU PEOPLE. If the job had been done right, we would have been more than pleased. Point is, he knew we were dealing with a disabled adult son, but his idea of ADA and code and ours dont jive. Shame on Mr. H for taking advantage of us and our situation. He did not diligently try to resolve anything.

"Danny C & Belinda C. are husband and wife for the purpose of their reviews. We did everything asked of us. We are a self-sufficient and reliable company which allows us to sustain and manage our renovation projects without the need to accept funds from anyone to start another project. We completed an expansive renovation project and it turned out beautifully for which we were paid and both of you stated you were happy. We have a process in place to receive progress payments, so each time a progress payment was made that would have been the time to discuss anything that you were not satisfied with. Normal folk don't wait until the end of the project to say something is wrong. You both visited the project at least three times out of the week while we were working on your home. Neither of you ever said to me you were not happy with our work. We discussed change orders as they came up and you signed off on everything as it unfolded. The contract did not include any work to meet ADA requirements. Danny C told us what you both wanted to make it easier for you to take care of your son. A building permit was required for this project and each one of our tradesmen is required to obtain permits for their work. City of Norfolk inspectors must come out and inspect all trade's work as well as the General contractor. We would not be allowed to close any walls or complete the project if we did not pass our inspections. HEI has been in business for over 30 years serving Hampton Roads and we do our best to please our customers. I have learned that no matter how hard you try you can't please everyone but we will continue to do our best."

Will and Hawkins Enterprise did a wonderful job at building our new Sunroom. During these Summer months, we have had an awesome time hosting gust and families and they really marvel at the level of detail placed into our room. We would recommend Hawkins Enterprise time and time again. They even did an amazing clean up for us when the project was over. Hawkins thank you so much for your wonderful work.

Had a load bearing wall removed and a steel beam put in its place to make two rooms into one. We had the hardwood floor patched in the area where the wall was, a coat closet built, new lights and ceiling fans installed, and all the drywall redone with plaster. We’re very happy with the work Mr Hawkins and his team did. The plaster work required some clean-up on my part afterwards but other than that everything came out perfect. I would hire Hawkins Enterprise Inc again.

I guess we should have taken a video of all the imperfections, because there is alot. We wrote a punch list, which Mr. H. slimmed down to something more to his liking. Our list covered every area where problems were found. He fixed a handful of them. He scoffed at and disregarded the rest, from torn screens on windows, damaged entrance doors, improperly finished trim work inside, a kitchen stove that will not slide all the way into place, due to the counter tops being too tight to allow the stove access, and the brand new stove was damaged. Mr. H. could have advocated for us, and gotten it fixed, but instead sided with the installers. He told us that no damage would be done to spaces not worked in. Conversely, the tile is cracked out in two existing bathrooms, from work that was done outside of these rooms. Walls and ceilings are not straight and plumb. Major damage was done in the laundry room and two gaping holes were left that were a major source of heat loss. There was damage done to two outbuildings, neither of which was fixed by the conactor. HEI tore gutters off the home, that were still under warranty and had gutter guards installed. The ones that went back up, were not graded properly, and had no guards. It cost us close to $1000 just to have them repaired and guards installed. And, contrary to what Mr. H says, no repairs were done to the yard whatsoever ! The vehicles that rutted the yard out, were neither offloading tools or materials. They were parked in the pouring rain, and the owners were inside working. We have a roof leak around the stack vent to our furnace. This is something that should not have to be renewed every year and a half. The previous seal on it, had lasted 25 years. We purchased an expensive range hood, that was improperly installed. There was a secondary damper for the ducting that was left laying on the counter. It was obviously never installed, because everytime it's windy outside, the outer damper slams and bangs. We've had siding come off the home, and there are places that were never done properly. This brings me to the back deck. The threshold to access it, is not a smooth transition. I can stick my finger in the gaps between the boards, and the end of the ramp is not safe for our son to traverse by himself. It's barely safe for us to get him over. Two new entrance doors and storm doors were improperly installed, and the threshold for 1, was never sealed to the floor surface, as it has a draft that is able to blow out a candle. The other door has steps installed that are so unsafe, and have NO safety rail provided. This brings me to the front porch and ramp, the main entrance to the home. The boards are gapped so bad in places, that lizards can pass through with no problem. There were places where nails were not driven all the way in. There is a piece of siding over the front door, that has nothing behind it, except insulation. And the railing next to the front door looks horrible. It was not installed properly, and now has developed mold and mildew on the bottom cross railing. To see something of this nature, as you enter the dwelling, is truly disheartening. HEI did not even sweep the yard for old nails and screws, as I have removed them from my shoes and tires of my lawn equipment. "ON TIME" refers to the fact of how long we were told before we would be able to move back in. We accommodated Mr. H twice and allowed an extension. On the second time, we told him that we could not do it again, because we had already given our notice to the expensive apartment were renting. Thereafter, he hinted at another extension and we said no. Every room in the home was a mess, and we spent the entire night before we moved back in, cleaning. The only time Mr. H treated us with respect was before we signed the contract, and when he wanted money for another draw. Next time Ill do a video or write a book, because this...
Response from Hawkins Enterprise, Inc.
"When working on construction projects, schedules, dates, and times are coordinated with subcontractors, delivery or installation persons, and the employees on the job, not the homeowner other than a projected completion date. The home was unoccupied at the time, therefore, not sure how to address the comment of 'not on time'. Any changes to the budget were coordinated and approved by Mr. and Mrs. C. each and every time. Changes were clearly communicated to them and as always, there can be unforeseen circumstances that require change orders and they were all approved by the homeowner, and progress payments were made when due. If you had concerns with the cost of the total project, why did you both agree to the price and sign the contract?. We were told you had gotten other estimates, but you accepted our bid. City inspectors provided final approvals throughout this project as required and if any materials used did not meet city code standards including ADA requirements, final inspections would never have been granted. Access to the yard for unloading materials and/or equipment sometimes required driving on or parking on the lawn, but we always repair any damage created by vehicles to include, but not limited to, sowing of grass seeds or other measures to ensure the yard/property is restored to its original condition as much as possible. You were asked to provide a final punch list of items that needed attention and we worked diligently to correct the issues, but we could never satisfy you which is unfortunate because our goal has always been to satisfy our customers, and 99.9% of the time we do."

Hawkins Enterprise has been very professional. I hired them to do some work to my parents home and a few challenges however they have accommodated the best way possible and it has truly made life easier for me being in a different state. So far they have done the roof, new garage door and also redid an entire bathroom. Everything looks great. I will be working more with them next year to complete a few more projects.

We had major water damage as a result of the snow storm in January 2018. Will Hawkings came out promptly to access the situation and provide an estimate. He arrived early and was very professional. He assured me that the damage could be repaired and also made suggestions that proved to be very beneficial. He worked with our insurance company to help the repair job move forward and he answered every concern and question that was raised. He even went an extra step to check on us from time to time and provide a detailed time line of the project as it unfolded. During much of the project I was at work and unable to correspond freely with Mr. Hawkins. However, he always ensured that any information discussed with my wife was relayed to me. He also explained various stages of each project to her in a logical and simple way. As husband, this made me feel confident and at ease with our contractor because he had our best interest in mind through the entire project. My wife also expressed the same feeling. His team is highly professional and they did an excellent job on the major rennovations we received. Our home looks great! I would recommend Hawkings Contracting to anyone.

Mr. Hawkins' company enclosed an upstairs loft bedroom with a wall and door for me and my husband. Will was the only contractor who suggested a 'landing' at the top of the stairs before installing a door. He listened to what we wanted, made suggestions, then completely explained each step of the project to us and how long the project would take. The most important aspect of Will's service was coming over each day to inspect his contractors work and to ensure the work was completed in an excellent workmanship manner. Will is a professional in his knowledge, speech, manner, and appearance. We highly recommend him! Larry & Vanessa C.
