Our friend who was recently purchasing a home in Chesapeake highly recommended Greg Murphy as a home inspector. We weren't able to do a full home inspection before the closing so Greg made two trips, once before closing for major items and once after closing, all the way to Suffolk at no extra cost. He is very professional, friendly, and respectful of property--he wears boot covers to protect floors while he walks around inside. He walked around our property explaining technical details to us so that we understood how things worked. We really appreciated how thorough he was when he could've just walked around the place without saying a word and emailed us some quick notes later. Greg took pictures of everything he discussed in his 30-something page report and emailed his report to us the same day as the inspection! When he returned the second time, he even double-checked a few things he noted the first visit to check on their status. Greg was also 15 minutes early each visit. Since we were new to the area, we also asked his opinion on some local companies, such as termite and roofing companies, and he created a list right there explaining to us why he was putting each company down. Double-checking them on Angie's List, they all came back with the best reviews and we have already used two of those companies. Greg went into all three outbuildings at our home, into the crawl space underneath, into the attic, and inspected both floors. He checked all around our home, all the electrical and gas appliances, and even the jetted tub's hook-ups. Greg saved us some money by spotting some necessary repairs before closing and we knew exactly where we wanted to start with preventive maintenance and immediate repairs after we bought the home. We HIGHLY recommend him!
