It was great! He did a wonderful job. We liked the fact that he did the work himself. He had some good ideas, like suggesting that we put in a fan and light. He had a good plan for connecting the existing stamped concrete patio with the concrete for the pavilion. He connected the two areas with a wide, curved path. He was there to supervise the subcontractors, too. The subcontractors who did the stamped concrete were top-notch, too. We liked the fact that the pavilion is maintenance free; the posts are wrapped in vinyl.

On Point Builders constructed a 32' x 20' deck with a 14' x 14' gazebo using composite decking  and pressure treated lumber. The entire process could not have gone more smoothly.  On Point is a small family-owned business that is absolutely fantastic to deal with from start to finish.  They are extremely responsive and excellent to work with during the design phase and are 100% focused on ensuring the customer gets exactly what they want by offering ideas and solutions that would work best while still staying within budget.
The owner, Wayne Shepherd, and his son Brennan did all of the work themselves with the exception of the shingles on the gazebo roof.  This is a huge advantage because the quality control is "on point".  They are extremely meticulous and the attention to detail is second to none.  On Point only uses the highest quality materials and even does additional work including sanding down exposed surfaces, gently rounding corners, and taking extra effort to hide screws and fasteners when they can.
The final product turned out better than expected and we could not be happier.  Since they are a small family operation you may have to wait a little longer to have the work performed, but the final product will make the wait completely worth it.  When you hire the bigger mass production companies you are really taking a chance depending on which crew gets assigned your project. Contact On Point Builders for your next project and you will receive a quality product at a fair price that you will be delighted with for years!

Wayne started this work in late December after finishing a neighbor?s enclosed deck.  Completion was about 4 months later, given that this was outside work and the weather impeded progress (this pace in the winter months was fine with me and well communicated).  His work is OUTSTANDING.  Wayne is meticulous and careful in his planning.  He does nearly all
of the work himself, sometimes with the help of his son.  He brought in another team for the concrete work as they specialize in this.  This was work was also completed to Wayne's high standards.
I requested the new surface to be placed on a 45-degree angle so Wayne replaced all of the supporting joists at 12" on center (was at 16?) along with some of the 6 x 6 stanchions (my deck was 20+ years old and I am convinced it was not to code, it is now).  He added the water containment system with an integrated gutter, new stairs and rails that are wider and ADA compliant, and LED lights on the rails and stairs.  The room under the deck is fantastic.  I am doing the interior painting and building shelves.
I am also happy that I had him build the patio at the same time.  It completes the area (landscaping is in progress).
Wayne Shepard is at the absolute top of my contractor list.  While the job started a bit later than planned and ran for 4 months
during the winter, I could not be happier.  His price was better than 3 others that I met with.  If you use Wayne (which you should), be patient and talk to him along the way.  He is reasonable, flexible and the quality of his work is better than any other contractor I have used.

The person who worked on our deck was named Kenny. He was the primary individual who worked on the job with some assistance in disposing the old material. He started the job on a Tuesday and finished on Saturday. He arrived on time and stayed until it got dark to complete the task. Kenny truly know his craft and is a perfectionist. He was very professional and friendly. We would happily hire this company again.

Rachel handled all of the scheduling and contracts. She was very professional and great to work with. Wayne and team performed the work on my property. They went out of their way to squeeze my job in between other jobs and bad weather to meet my time line. They were very professional, showed up on time and did a great job. There work is very high quality and their pricing is very fair. I would highly recommend them and would definitely use them again myself.

This is the second project On Point Builders has done for me. Understanding how the company likes to work is critical. You may have to wait for awhile to get your project scheduled. But from my experience it's worth the wait. I had three companies bid this job, although I was predisposed to having On Point do the work based on our first project. The price quoted was quite good, and was significantly less than one other company. The quality of the work was excellent, the price was very good, and the job was handled in a professional manner. It may take a little longer to get your work done by On Point Builders, but it's worth the wait. If you're looking for handcrafted construction, exceptional quality and a very fair price, this is the company to work with. I actually paid a little more than the agreed on price, but I offered the additional payment on my own as my way of saying and quot;thank youand quot; for a job well done. I think this is the first time I've ever done that. So that should tell you that I was very impressed with the results I got from On Point Builders.

On Point Builders is a relatively small, family run business. They are pretty straight forward in communicating. They were not the lowest bidder on the project, but I felt more comfortable with their hands on approach. It took them longer to complete the project than they had originally said, but I didn't mind. Most of the time the owner did the work himself, which made me feel more comfortable. I felt more like I was getting a hand built product. The screened porch looks great, although since it's winter we haven't used it much. The construction seems sound, and the owner communicated well during the project. There was some misunderstanding regarding the Angie's List discount coupon. But overall I am very satisfied. Would definitely use them again.

One of the things mentioned during the estimate was that there may be a problem with the basement walk-out. Fairfax County code requires eight feet of clearance; the old deck barely provided seven feet. Mike mentioned that this may change the dimensions of the deck.
After Wayne Shepherd, the builder, started putting in the supports, he realized that the walkout would severely impact the deck area, and made a suggestion to change the shape of the deck. The change provided a large increase in the deck area and really improved the look of the deck.
It took about two weeks to complete my deck, but Wayne lost several days due to rain. Wayne hung around a few days to discuss several items, and he kept me informed of the progress and any issues that arose. There were no surprises....other than how good the finished deck looked!

On Point Builders did an absolutelly fabulous job building my deck. I could not be happier! Their workmanship and professionalism is first rate. The quality and attention to detail would make you think they built the deck for their own home. The job was completed quickly and efficiently, and the company was a pleasure to work with. We had one hiccup with miscommunication regarding the size of the trellis, which ended up being put up too small. The misunderstanding was cleared up in short order, and the work was re-done quickly and professionally to the correct size. The price was good relative to other quotes I got, and the value excellent. I enthusiastically recommend this company.

Last year On Point Builders did a great job building a very solid deck around our pool area. They designed and built it in such a manner that we could later enclose the deck for 3 season use. This year On Point Builders completed the enclosure and we could not be more delighted with the finished project. The design, workmanship and quality of materials are excellent and the price was more than reasonable. I have engaged On Point Builders twice and they have exceeded my expectations both times. These are quality builders, honest, dependable and dedicated to their customers. I have several other projects I plan to complete over the next several years and On Point Builders will be my contractor. They have earned my respect and loyalty.
