The owner, Wayne Shepherd, and his son Brennan did all of the work themselves with the exception of the shingles on the gazebo roof. This is a huge advantage because the quality control is "on point". They are extremely meticulous and the attention to detail is second to none. On Point only uses the highest quality materials and even does additional work including sanding down exposed surfaces, gently rounding corners, and taking extra effort to hide screws and fasteners when they can.
The final product turned out better than expected and we could not be happier. Since they are a small family operation you may have to wait a little longer to have the work performed, but the final product will make the wait completely worth it. When you hire the bigger mass production companies you are really taking a chance depending on which crew gets assigned your project. Contact On Point Builders for your next project and you will receive a quality product at a fair price that you will be delighted with for years!
of the work himself, sometimes with the help of his son. He brought in another team for the concrete work as they specialize in this. This was work was also completed to Wayne's high standards.
I requested the new surface to be placed on a 45-degree angle so Wayne replaced all of the supporting joists at 12" on center (was at 16?) along with some of the 6 x 6 stanchions (my deck was 20+ years old and I am convinced it was not to code, it is now). He added the water containment system with an integrated gutter, new stairs and rails that are wider and ADA compliant, and LED lights on the rails and stairs. The room under the deck is fantastic. I am doing the interior painting and building shelves.
I am also happy that I had him build the patio at the same time. It completes the area (landscaping is in progress).
Wayne Shepard is at the absolute top of my contractor list. While the job started a bit later than planned and ran for 4 months
during the winter, I could not be happier. His price was better than 3 others that I met with. If you use Wayne (which you should), be patient and talk to him along the way. He is reasonable, flexible and the quality of his work is better than any other contractor I have used.
Rachel handled all of the scheduling and contracts. She was very professional and great to work with. Wayne and team performed the work on my property. They went out of their way to squeeze my job in between other jobs and bad weather to meet my time line. They were very professional, showed up on time and did a great job. There work is very high quality and their pricing is very fair. I would highly recommend them and would definitely use them again myself.
After Wayne Shepherd, the builder, started putting in the supports, he realized that the walkout would severely impact the deck area, and made a suggestion to change the shape of the deck. The change provided a large increase in the deck area and really improved the look of the deck.
It took about two weeks to complete my deck, but Wayne lost several days due to rain. Wayne hung around a few days to discuss several items, and he kept me informed of the progress and any issues that arose. There were no surprises....other than how good the finished deck looked!
