ATLAS LC, Heating & Air Conditioning

On a Saturday morning in August my thermostat went dead and the AC was not operating. I e-mailed Rob Gault and he responded in 10 minutes even though he was at a job in West Virginia. He suggested that it is likely the condensation line may be blocked or the pump not working. He explained how I could easily check this and work around the problem to get my AC back. He was correct and I was able to get the AC working until he was came to my house and replace the pump. This was an old pump that was not part of the system Bob had installed 2 years previously. I am very happy both with the Groundhog heat pump system Rob installed and his service. I have owned many houses over the last 50 years and Atlas and Rob are the best HVAC people I have used. I have no hesitation to recommend them.

The team at Atlas Heating and Air in Nokesville, Virginia did a great job replacing our aging HVAC system. We had an old oil furnace and outside heat pump (each >25 years old) and were interested in geothermal. Rob from Atlas visited our home and recommended a "right-sized" hybrid geothermal/air-exchange system, and zoned our house for two systems (one was never sufficient when the house was built). From there they removed the old units (the oil furnace wasn't easy) and installed two new indoor compressors and two new outdoor compressors, and zoned the house -- huge difference! When one of the indoor compressors failed (seems to have been a manufacturing defect), Rob was super-quick to address the problem and replace the compressor. Overall could not have hoped for a better experience.

My AC stopped blowing cold air during a heatwave and during a holiday week which is not a fun situation to be in. I sent out a quote request on a Sunday morning at 6:30AM and Atlas got back to me thirty minutes later and offered to come by that day. I wasn't going to be home for the day so I asked them to come on Monday. Robert from Atlas said he'd be at my house between 9 and 9:30, got there just minutes after 9. Ran diagnostics and my condenser blew, just like I expected. He gave me options to move forward with - either getting through the summer or investing in future summers. Having already put a defibrillator to that condenser once I decided to change out the unit. It was done by 3PM and I'm writing this review from nice and cool house. By the time Robert was leaving I only had three other contractors reach out to me trying to set up a consultation for the following week. So they were prompt, efficient, and quoted me in the range I would have expected. A-service all around.

Our A/C system went out after 18 years of working and we contacted Rob Gault with Atlas Heating & A/C since he put our original one in. He came out the same day and temporary got our system working which was a blessing because it was over 90 degress. He gave us some options and we decided to replace the complete unit due to it's age. There was no pressure to buy or add on things not needed. Rob and his crew came out early the next morning as promised and had our complete system installed by early afternoon. They removed all the old parts and left without leaving a mess. It was a nice professional install. Rob is upfront and honest to work with and we would highly recommend him.

Rob from Atlas provided a great service and replaced the blower unit. He was very responsive at all times of the day and I would recommend to anybody needing HVAC or geo thermal services. He was very knowledgeable and was easy to speak with regarding the repair and time frame.

Yesterday the system monitor indicated an overheating outside component which caused the system to operate only on Emergency Heat.  Sent e-Mail to Rob Gault and he responded personally today and checked the system.  Apparently ice froze on the outside unit fan blades as the system operated correctly when Rob checked it.  Nothing needed and no expense.  Very appreciative of his personal quick response due to my schedule.

First 90 degree day in May and my tenant's AC stops working.  I try some of the top rated resellers from Angie's List but they are booked.  I am clearly not the only one with an AC issue and I can't wait until June to get it fixed.  A family member recommends I check with Atlas AC in Nokesville.  I check them out on Angies's List and give them a call.  I speak with Rob the owner, he is slammed just like the other top rated guys but the difference is he says that he will try to work me in the schedule.  
True to his word, Rob fits me into his schedule and gets to the house near 7:00.  He is polite, professional and friendly.  He's clearly been very busy and gets to work right away.  He diagnoses the problem with the condenser and has it fixed in less than an hour and was off like a shot to help someone else.  
Atlas helped me out when I was in a tight spot and charged me a fair and reasonable price.  When I need help with my HVAC, I will definately call Rob at Atlas LC again.

We recently purchased a new home with two HVAC units. The upstairs unit was a 20 year old geothermal unit that died two weeks after we closed. Thankfully we found Rob to help us. He came out the same day we contacted him and told us that a geothermal unit was not the way to go in our situation. He was honest, fair and overall a great guy to work with. His team was over the next day to install a new unit in our attic. Those guys were absolutely fabulous. They worked well past 5:00, in the sweltering heat, up in our stifling hot attic to install our unit so that we would have AC. Fast forward a few months and our 17 year old downstairs gas furnace died. We called Rob and he came out that day. We decided to just bite the bullet and get a new furnace and compressor. Rob sent us three different options with pricing and did not actually recommend the most expensive system. The next day Alex arrived to install the unit. Again, Rob and Alex were great to work with and we couldn't be happier with the service we received. I highly recommend Atlas.

The experience was excellent. He arrived on time, did a very quick but thorough inspection. Explained everything to us and was able to fix the problem.

After 23 years at this then new house, we had toilets backing up from multiple bathrooms, as well as sinks. They (two workers) gave us estimates of what may be wrong and what it would cost to fix different problems. 
They were accurate in diagnosing the problem, which was tree roots eventually clogging and breaking the main waste pipe from the house to the septic tank. They showed us what they were doing every step of the way. The problem was fixed in a matter of hours.
A builder recommended the company, which works locally. The builder uses them exclusively, for their honesty and professionalism.
I would highly recommend them.

I'd like to express my appreciation for the super service in responding and
quickly repairing my heating problem. You quickly diagnosed the problem to be
simply a loose connection at the main circuit breaker box that feeds the heat
pump. The Westinghouse IQ system you installed a number of years ago has worked
excellent for both heating in the Winter and cooling in the Summer. I didn't
expect you to respopnd within one day since it wasnt an emergency, but your help
is most appreciated.

Rob was wonderful!  A key point for me when I was asking for bids was that Rob was not just a salesman; he actually knew how the heat pumps worked and was able to explain key aspects to me.  I knew he could fix or install the equipment himself, which gave him real credibility.  The other three companies sent out sales people--very polished, nice sales people, but when I asked a question or two they responded with, "Well, that is something I would refer to a technician and get back to you on."
Rob provided the very best equipment (Made in America, Westinghouse 16.5 seer with variable speed air handlers--he can provde any of the major brands, but I am old and like the idea of Made in America).  He provided the best equipment at the best price and Rob provided his best price on day one, while others provided their final best price after three weeks of "new found discounts."  Rob installed the equipment on the day I scheduled in spite of the cold rain and left the house as clean as he found it (he used carboard covers over the carpet).
I most strongly recommend Rob and Atlas to anyone in need of heat pump reparis or new equipment--buy American!

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Rob Gault and Atlas LC.   I was facing the reality that one of my heat pumps (15  year old, 3 ton Carrier unit) finally failed for good during the extreme hot weather this summer, and was talking with several HVAC contractors regarding replacement units.  Meeting with Rob was a breath of fresh air.  After examining the system that needed replacement, we openly discussed the several options for replacement.  Having met with several contractors,  the choices, options and range of costs are quite extensive,  What I loved is that Rob  recommended the various options for our unique situation and budget, and not just push the most expensive option like EVERY other contractor I met with did.  He laid out a few options, frankly discussed the pros and cons, and I was rather pleased with the quotes for installation.  After our initial meeting, and some additional research, I was confident that Atlas was the best choice, for Rob's honesty in his recommendations, and the quality of the equipment he was offering.
Installation was smooth, Rob and his crew arrived on time.  Installation went off without a hitch, and Rob also installed his heat pump maximizer he developed for those very cold periods in winter where heat pumps are less efficient.  As an engineer, I was intrigued by this device, and I will check to see how it helps this winter.  A very smooth, pain free experience.  Rob was also very flexible in terms of payment and working with me.  One of the best contractor experiences I have ever had, I would HIGHLY recommend Atlas LC.

Very quick install with 90% of the work completed the first day then they came back the next day for the completion.  We were never without a cooling system.  The equipment was exactly as described and is much quieter and more efficient than the original one that was replaced.  They even installed a water cutoff switch which the prior install should have had by code but did not.  Great company easy to work with and very friendly. 

I was very pleased with the service that I got with Atlas. First thing, they came out to a**** the situation and added freon to the unit to buy me some time to decide on what I wanted to do. It was determined that I needed a new unit. They sent me quotes of 5 different units ranging in sear ratings and price. Rob spent time explaining each one to me to assure that I knew the differences between the units. Once we had narrowed it down between 2 units I called Rob to get his professional opinion of the 2 we were comparing. Again he was very helpful in the decision process with technical information and professional experience rather than just steering towards the more expensive one. I really felt like he wanted to be sure we got the best unit for our house in the budget we had to work with. Once the unit was selected I was once again impressed with the quick time frame that the unit had arrived and was ready for install. I might add that this was right in the middle of one of the biggest heat waves that is typical of August. They showed up at my house as scheduled, on time and removed the old unit and all trash that was associated with it. Then, installed the new unit in a timely and professional manner. They took care to make sure the unit made it to its destination with no damage to my walls or floor. When the install was complete they cleaned up all trash from the new unit and tested it to be sure it was working properly. Rob then showed me how to use the new thermostat and explained all the features it has for setting it up in different configurations. Job well done. I would highly recommend Atlas to anyone needing Heating and Air Conditioning Service.

As a follow up to my previous post, the original work was performed in 2005, however, Rob personally came out yesterday and went above and beyond to fix the problem that had arisen.

Rob was referred by a friend for sales & installation of an HVAC unit (indoor & outdoor unit); he didn't try to oversell or upsell us.  The installation was not without minor flaws, but he was ready, willing and able to rectify the situation.  Six years later, when we had a major problem with the indoor unit, he was more than happy to come out and fix the problem for us..no questions asked.  I have found that with any small business, you may not get a call back as quickly as you would from a bigger corporation, but the personal service that comes from using small businesses far outweighs the minimal wait time. 

I have recommended Rob and Atlas LC to many friends and they have been happy with the outcome of the service.  His prices are competitive, and if you are like my husband and I, supporting our local small businesses and economy is important.  Will definitely keep referring him to my friends and acquaintenances alike for sales, installation and service.
