Smith Electric

Smith Electric & Cable was recommended to us by a cousin who does lots of rehabs with the caveat that he wanted them back the following week.  When we called, they arranged an appointment for the next day, showed up on time, listened to all the things we wanted them to do - including changing all the outlets to 3-prong, wrote us out a bid, and then the electrician explained why we didn't need what we thought we needed, spent another hour in the attic showing us how good our old lines were and outlined a different project.  He gave us a firm bid for each job vs hourly wages, told us how much he thought the supplies would cost and told us where he would buy them (offering us the phone number of each supply store including Lowe's so we could check ourselves), gave us 2 different possible times to do the job, asked us to get another bid, shook hands and left.  

After checking around, we jumped on their offer and had them start 2 days later.  On the first day, they showed up a little late but called as the shop he went to get the electrical panel from was out - offered us their number (we already had it from his previous list) - so he went to another supply store. All of 20 minutes behind their scheduled start time, they got to our house and started to work.  They spent a full 8 hours working to run the panel (we're a 3 story house and it was in the basement), came back the next day - on time - to put in the 2 bathroom fans in rooms that had never had them and vented them cleanly to the outside, run grounding wires for a few of the grounded 3-prongs we would need for computers and tv, etc.  On the final day, they clearly labelled the panel, shifted some of cox cablelines in the house so they would be inubtrusive, cleaned wonderfully, asked if there was anything else they could do and left us smiling.

At all times, they were professional, helpful, and fast.  Since they were working by project and not hourly, they worked to get it right and truly seemed to enjoy doing less than we wanted originally.  One of the bathrooms fans started making noise within days but they were out to fix the problem with a smile and no charge almost as quickly as we called. Absolutely Great Job.
