We used Mike's services about three years ago at our previous address to run a natural gas line from outside the house to the kitchen island where we converted from an electric stove to a gas stove; he charged us around $450 (good value) for that installation. After that we had the stove delivered and someone else hooked it up to the newly installed gas line without incidence. Since he was very reasonable in cost and did an outstanding job, we called him for the gas log connection at our current house.
We moved into our current house this past summer (2014). It was built in 1992 and has a large wood burning fireplace that we decided to convert to gas logs. We had purchased a 24 inch RealFyre gas log set with remote flame control on-line and had it delivered. Then I called Mike (I still had his business card from 3 years ago) on his cell, and he set up an appointment to come over and estimate the job. He arrived promptly at 0830 with two helpers, and offered to do the work immediately if that was agreeable to me, and for around $550. I gave the go-ahead, and so they proceeded to shut off the gas and re-work a nearby galvanized gas pipe. They cut it, re-threaded it, ran new sections of pipe, placed a shut-off valve on the outside of the fireplace (where it was fed up through our back deck), placed a second shut-off valve on the inside of the fireplace, and connected the gas log set. They applied thread sealant, checked for leaks, caulked appropriately with silicone, and tested the operation of our new gas log set (which I put together prior to their arrival that day). They completely cleaned up the areas they worked in. It took a total of about 3 hours. All three were very friendly, courteous, respectful, and professional. I also talked to Mike about the future possibility of relocating our whole house natural gas generator off our deck, and also relocating the two house air handlers, and he gave me a fairly good idea of how he would do that work and what it would approximately cost. I liked what I heard, and will definitely call him when my wife and I decide to go ahead with relocating those items.
Mike is qualified to do jobs involving heating, air conditioning, electrical, and gas plumbing, and is reasonably priced. He is also a member of the better business bureau. I'm glad I held onto his business card from three years ago.
