Mike Reaves was supposed to fix an AC unit for the sellers before we purchased our home. After moving in we found out that the AC unit was unstable, one of the two intakes was not only disconnected but also filling with water, and the connections of the gas furnace were simply hanging loose. No attempts to contact him by us, the sellers, or our insurance were met with any kind of reply. In short, if you'd like to pay $600 for something to be fixed, and then pay several thousand dollars for someone to come do it right, choose Mike Reaves Mechanical.

Micheal is an irresponsible businessman who actively ignores customers after he takes their money. If you want to get a hold of him, you have to call with a different phone number, using a fake name. Here's what happened. Michael and his crew came out and ran a thin wire down the side of our house to the outdoor AC unit and recharged our system, which has a leak. When I say "ran a wire" I mean: there's a loose wire dangling in the air down the side of my house. He wasn't able to run the wire properly with the amount of time he allotted, but charged me $600 anyway, saying "I'll return to re-run the wire and install your new coil when the part comes in. The $600 you're paying will go towards the new coil, which will be about $1,000." He leaves, me expecting to pay another $400 for a new coil in a couple weeks. Four months go by. He doesn't return calls, he doesn't answer his phone. He has phone answering software that asks for your name before he answers... Eventually, I call him using my wife's phone number and said a fake name. He picks up immediately.... I say "I need you go repair my AC unit" and he says "Sure, where are you located." I then reveal that I'm the customer he's avoided the entire summer and he's caught red handed. He gives me a story about parts not being available because of Covid. I give him some grace, but say "That's fine, but don't ignore my calls and keep me in the loop. If you continue screening my calls, I'll have to leave you a bad review, I'm sorry." He said he would call me each week with an update on the order. Seeing as it's now dead of winter February, about 10 months later, I would say he's not coming back. He's a swindler. Avoid at all costs.

We used Mike's services about three years ago at our previous address to run a natural gas line from outside the house to the kitchen island where we converted from an electric stove to a gas stove; he charged us around $450 (good value) for that installation.  After that we had the stove delivered and someone else hooked it up to the newly installed gas line without incidence.  Since he was very reasonable in cost and did an outstanding job, we called him for the gas log connection at our current house.

We moved into our current house this past summer (2014).  It was built in 1992 and has a large wood burning fireplace that we decided to convert to gas logs.  We had purchased a 24 inch RealFyre gas log set with remote flame control on-line and had it delivered.  Then I called Mike (I still had his business card from 3 years ago) on his cell, and he set up an appointment to come over and estimate the job.  He arrived promptly at 0830 with two helpers, and offered to do the work immediately if that was agreeable to me, and for around $550.  I gave the go-ahead, and so they proceeded to shut off the gas and re-work a nearby galvanized gas pipe.  They cut it, re-threaded it, ran new sections of pipe, placed a shut-off valve on the outside of the fireplace (where it was fed up through our back deck), placed a second shut-off valve on the inside of the fireplace, and connected the gas log set.  They applied thread sealant, checked for leaks, caulked appropriately with silicone, and tested the operation of our new gas log set (which I put together prior to their arrival that day).  They completely cleaned up the areas they worked in.  It took a total of about 3 hours.  All three were very friendly, courteous, respectful, and professional.  I also talked to Mike about the future possibility of relocating our whole house natural gas generator off our deck, and also relocating the two house air handlers, and he gave me a fairly good idea of how he would do that work and what it would approximately cost.  I liked what I heard, and will definitely call him when my wife and I decide to go ahead with relocating those items.

Mike is qualified to do jobs involving heating, air conditioning, electrical, and gas plumbing, and is reasonably priced.  He is also a member of the better business bureau.  I'm glad I held onto his business card from three years ago.
