"Thank you very much [member name removed], we enjoyed working on your house and would love to help you out in the future!"
We have moved into this house one year ago. At that time it was power washed out and we noticed that there were a few places where the paint was worn out. However the house maintenance enterprise which helped us at the time did not advise painting. They only replaced a few cedar boards which had been badly damaged, and gave them a coat of paint to match the rest of the cladding.
At the end of last summer, it appeared that the paint was wearing out very thin, in particular on the deck and in a few places on the front of the house. We consulted this house maintenance company and they made an offer over the phone, proposing to use the same paint they had already used for the whole house. We were about to accept their offer, when we met JIm MacDOUGALL who was painting a house in the neighborhood for the local housing association. We learnt from neighbours that he had been working in that neighborhood for some time and that they were very happy with his work, inside and outside their homes. So we asked him to make an offer for our house. He came with a worker who measured carefully the whole house. He called our attention to eh cnoice of paint, pointing to the recently painted cedar planks, where the texture of the wood had been entirely covered by the paint. He proposed to use a different paint, translucent and glittering, and sent a detailed offer the next day by email. His offer was higher than the previous one we had had, and we discussed the price, which he agreed to lower.
The following day he came with a team of three workers who spent two days working on the house. The washing itself was quite an experience. It was done from a ladder along the cedar boards, rather than from the ground as the previous year. As a result the house was much cleaner and the need to repaint more apparent.
The painting went well. The painters were both professional and good-humored. After it was finished and the deck had dried, the painters came back to put the furniture back in place on the deck. One week later we realized that two small windows were still slightly open, and we could not close them by ourselves. We called Jim MacDOUGALL, who responded quickly. Two painters came the next morning and very kindly closed them for us.
The house looks much better, and several people have been struck by the sheen of the paint, which is very pleasant when the sun falls on the boards. It has definitely given the house a fresh appearance.
