Went to Lowes appliance manager - Allison - to purchase a Broan range hood. The item was on display but would take two weeks to order. I had to settle for a cheaper model and paid. I got suspicious about the two week delivery time so I checked with the vendor and found out that it only took 3 business days. I called the store spoke to an assistant manager and told him the appliance manager had lied; cancelled the order for the cheaper model and ordered and paid for what I originally wanted. The store called the next day after I complained to the Lowes 800 number for customer care and informed me the item was available and it was scheduled for installation 4 days later - I arranged to take off from work. The day before the scheduled install, the installers called to confirm. Everything was set. I am sitting at home, on annual leave, when the appliance manager - Allison - calls and informs me she had made a mistake and there was no installation and they didn't have the item; have a nice day. Obviously the phony installation appointment was her way of retaliating for complaining earlier. I still don't have what I paid for and I'm not sure that Allison even bothered to order it.
Kim came out and took measurements of the kitchen. There was to be no major changes in layout other than the addition of one more cabinet upper and lower. I was told that I could get new cabinets for under 10K and there was a 1k discount and free sink thrown into the offer. When we went to review the layout and select the style we liked the cost for everything was close to 17k with average granite. This was way over our budget and so we did not proceed.
I also tried to have Lowes install new tile flooring in my kitchen and so the contractor came out and said that Lowes will not remove existing glued down vinyl flooring and the gentleman from Humps did not ever quote me a price but said for floor removal would run around 1500.
- Had the sub contractor for granite counter top template my counter while my husband and brother were gutting kitchen. When it was installed they broke a piece but the real problem was that they put they installed it without me there with a very obvious seam in the middle of the counter top seen immediately walking thru the door, the installer did not color match the seam. which is over a 1/4 inch wide! When I contacted the subcontractor, the supervisor/ she had every excuse in the book for the poor installation. Sent a man to color match the seam and said this is what they could do. The color is better match, and the men that came seem experienced. I expected and quot;expert installationand quot; and to blame my husband and brother for the poor installation/template and not take the responsibility of their install team's poor work is just not right. Contacted Lowes...satisfaction and quot;guaranteedand quot;. Needless to say that was the and quot;fixand quot; and unless I get Lowes involved, which they were not really cooperative on my calls and have had no follow-up from them nor the contractor, I feel that I have no recourse unless legal or spending hours on the phone with the companies and replacing the counter top.. Where is their QA/QC of their subcontractors? I would have to have the stove, and the sink disconnected if new granite top is installed . I find that the template, and the actual installers were incompetent and not professionals and the subcontractor insulting and not willing to back their work...and Lowes uncooperative. I will NEVER use them again ....a lot of money and wait for a awful product that I feel that was not a professional job.
I will attach pictures...obvious that the job was and quot;botchedand quot; and the and quot;fixand quot; of hiding the wide seam that was put right in the middle of the work space is the best they can do for over 4,000 dollars
At the end of April, we kept trying to contact Kraft Maid and Lowe's to find out the status of our order. Lowe's had no idea, and the customer service at Kraft Maid was ridiculously bad. We would always get disconnected, messages would not get returned, etc. At the beginning of May, they called to say that they needed to come to our house to get our new sink. My husband asked them a few times if they actually needed to collect the sink, and they said, and quot;Yesand quot;. A few days later, a technician showed up and said that they only needed to take measurements of the sink in order for the granite to be cut.
Around the middle of May we began to question Kraft Maid if they were going to have the countertop installed by the 90 day time frame. Kraft Maid immediately scheduled a date for installation after that. On May 19th, the installers showed up to install the granite. They did a great job and the countertop looks fabulous. However, it was painful trying to get good customer service along the way. If I needed countertops in the future, I would probably go to a business that offered more personal service, because I don't think that the aggravation was worth the little bit of money saved.
