The downstairs of my house filled with smoke due to a power surge through a connector line from an incident across the street. Virginia Power and the local fire department both strongly recommended I have an electrician inspect my home to determine cause of smoke. I called Eastwood Electrical based on a recommendation from my insurance company. Michael Eastwood came out the same day I called him and arrived at the appointed time. He inspected my circuit breaker panel and determined the breaker to the dishwasher had tripped. He then removed the bottom panel to my dishwasher and found burnt wires. He took photos of the damaged wires and advised that the dishwasher must be replaced. For safety, he also told me to leave the breaker to the dishwasher off until replaced. He subsequently sent me an invoice detailing his findings with copies of the photos. Eastwood Electrical was very thorough and professional. I appreciate the effort to quickly respond to my need to have a timely evaluation of the cause of smoke in my home so as not to incur further damage.  I would not hesitate to call Eastwood Electrical should I require future electrical needs and recommend his services to others.

The fix lasted 8 months. Receptacles no longer work again. I called over a month ago for Eastwood to return. They needed to check their schedule. Guess they are still checking.

All went as planned.

When doing my original research, I was calling around to make appointments for bids. I called Eastwood Electric and call went to voice mail. I was not in the mood to leave a message, but to my surprise Mike Eastwood called me back within 20 minutes. That impressed me. We scheduled an appointment for the next day. Mike showed up within 15 minutes of our set time. We talked a few minutes and I explained what I wanted. He then started figuring and calculating and provided me with a bid that day on the spot. This also impressed me because I had 4 other contractors come by and not one of them provided me with a bid the same day. One still has not provided a bid and the job has been completed.
I gave the job to Mr. Eastwood and he performed the installation exactly as he stated he would. His people were very professional and extremely good at their craft. His electrician and helper stayed on the job until the task was completed despite the fact that the temperature that day was in the upper 90's. They both worked constantly throughout the day until all electrical connections were hooked up and they left without leaving any mess behind.
The gas company had to install their equipment next and even they completed the job quickly which allowed Eastwood's gas man to complete his work. There was a slight 2 day delay with him, however, he did finally come on a Sunday and installed his piping. The only real delay was with the city inspector and even that was only a few days.
I recommend Eastwood Electric to everyone who needs a standby generator installed. I believe them to be a very reputable and honest company and I will DEFINITELY be calling them for any of my electrical needs. I have NO don'ts to report.

I have been very happy.

After hurricane Irene I decided to purchase a portable generator so I could keep my refrigerator running when power from the local power company was lost. I wanted the capability to feed the generator output to the whole house, instead of using the 120 VAC outlets on the generator with numerous extension cords. The solution to the problem was to install a weathertight power inlet box, wired into the house breaker box, with a breaker interlock installed to prevent backfeed into the utility power grid. The owner of the company, Mike Eastwood, did a personal field assessment of my needs and provided an estimate of the cost of installing the power inlet box, installing the breaker interlock kit, and manufacture of a 50' cord to run from the generator to the power inlet box.

I was promised a start time of 9:00 a.m. The workers were at my house at 8:55 a.m. The installation was done in a very methodical, professional manner. Any questions I had were answered promptly, in terminology I could understand. When the installation was complete, they gave me a short and quot;how toand quot; on the procedure for disconnecting the house from the utility grid and setting it up for the portable generator. All trash and work material was removed from the work area.

I was thoroughly satisfied with the work performed by Eastwood Electrical. So much so, in fact, that I have recommended them to six other friends that want a similar installation done for their homes.
