The owner responded very quickly to our request for an estimate and showed many wonderful samples of his work. When we agreed to accept the offer, we attempted to pay by credit card and he was unable to accept our payment initially, but called to arrange payment through Paypal. The only stipulation was that we had to make payment in full before the job was completed. Since the company was a friend referal, we were confident that the job would be completed. They were able to schedule the job within a week and the work was completed in three days The crew arrived promptly. The first day they arrived about an hour early and entered the home when noone was there. Unforuntately, one of our children left the door unlocked when they left that morning. It was a little alarming when my mother arrived and they were already in the home. We live in a small home, so we were living at a relative's home for the week of refinishing. In-laws were in the front room of the house while work was completed during the day. When the job was completed and we saw it for the first time we realized that the stain in our hall (old floor) and kitchen (new floor) area were two different colors. I called to report this concern about 5:30 on a Friday evening and he returned my call later that night, in an effort to provide customer satifsfaction. During our initial meeting with the Mr. Cooke we chose a stain for red oak floors, from a panel of selections that he shared with us. In my follow-up call, Mr. Cooke stated that he noticed that the floor in the hallway was actually white oak during the first day of work. He made no attempt to contact us or find a stain that would more closely match the color on the red oak floor. When questioned about the difference, I was told that I couldn't ask him about this after the third day of poly and that he assumed I knew we had two different types of wood. In addition, several pieces of flooring were installed from our spare stock and the transition from the hall to our den was not and quot;filled inand quot; as we agreed upon during our initial discussion. Finally, a small gash was found in our new flooring in the kitchen. My husband installed the floor and it was covered with paper until the morning of the refinishing. Mr. Cooke shared that he did not notice it until the stain was put on, so it is difficult to say whether or not it was done during the sanding process, but no attempt was made to fill it before refinishing was completed. The stain on our new kitchen and den flooring looks beautiful and the company took great care around our new kitchen cabinets. Our greatest disappointment is with the lack of attention to detail in the transition from our den to the hallway.
