Shawn arrived right on time and went straight to work after I described the problem to him. He found the problem, a blown capacitor, replaced it, and checked the performance in on the exterior unit. He verified it was working properly with me and explained the operation of the Lennox system. He had performed routine yearly preventative checkups and maintenance for the previous owner. He was courteous, knowledgable and professional, and the bill was a pleasant surprise; it could have been a lot more serious with a 10 year old system but we were fortunate.
My wife and I were totally pleased with the whole experience we had with Mountain Valley Home Comfort and will definitely call them next time we need service of our HVAC. We also plan to have a yearly maintenance contract with them.
The company I had previously used to service my heating and and conditioning was unsatisfactory, so I decided to try Angie's List. Since the list is not very large in Harrisonburg, with few comments, I choose one that advertised, in the phone book, that they serviced my brand. I made the call at 9 am and, even though I was not a prior customer, they gave me an appointment for 1 pm. A very pleasant man named Jay showed up about 2 pm. He listened while I explained that the burners were turning on but the gas was not igniting, etc. Then he went to work, found the ignitor was bad, replaced it, and rechecked the operation. Jay showed me the old ignitor and explained that it probably went bad because some oil (possibly from a finger print) had been on the metal part. He said he replaced it with a better ignitor and it should last longer. Jay said I could pay by cash, check, or credit card. I paid by American Express, but received a bill a few days later - they don't take American Express. That is O.K. with me - I need the air miles on my Master Card. I was very pleased with the service and will have them service my system in the spring.
