Tree Service, Lawn Service
A few months back, I had two large trees cut down in my backyard. The logs were left to be split by me at a later time (see photo).
In the past, I would rent a gas-powered log splitter and split & stack the wood myself. But, I'm getting older and my son has moved out so I decided to turn the chore over to someone else.
The owner of Massey Log Splitting & Stacking Service, came over to my home with one other person and a gas-powered log splitter. The two of them work pretty quickly and, if you ask in advance, they may even bring some pallets to stack the split wood onto (to keep the wood off the ground).
The charge is $40/hr for the two-person crew & equipment. They arrived promptly at Noon on Sunday, and split & stacked the two cords of wood in my backyard in five hours, without even taking a bathroom break! Total cost was $200, and they even hauled away my old rotting pallets.
I should mention I, too, assisted with the stacking of the wood for 3 of those 5 hrs, while providing additional direction like size preference of the split logs, and where I wanted them stacked.
The owner of Massey Log Splitting is Ramey Massey (pronounced Ray-Mee), and he is in the Marine Reserves. Very nice guy and quite professional. He has another job that occupies him Monday-Friday, so typically he does his log splitting work on the weekends.
