"Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with our company. We are so glad you chose our company to help make your backyard more enjoyable. Your feedback is very valuable to us. as we work to be better each and every day. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us in the future. Thank you for your business!!"
The project took 4-5 days, as they anticipated, working around the weather. They called in advance to let me know when they were coming. The builders were courteous and friendly. When they finished, they removed all leftover material.
I was thrilled with the idea of staining in two colors. The horizontal surfaces match the trim color on my house and the pickets (and other vertical surfaces) are white. It looks GREAT!!
I highly recommend this company!
After we signed the contract, someone from Deck Tech came out and removed the existing screens and replaced all of the wooden molding around where the windows would go with vinyl. Once the was done, all of the openings were carefully measured and the windows ordered. After approximately two weeks, the windows and new storm door arrived and the installation took less than a day. Another half-day was needed to install a new electrical outlet and the gutters were put up in approximately two hours. The entire project took a little over a week spread out from the end of April to June 1.
Early on Jack worked with us to change the design from the original concept and kept in touch throughout the project. He even communicated with us while he was on vacation. All of his workers were very courteous and personable, and kept the work area clean at the end of the day. They were prompt in coming back to correct the very few problems found on the 'punch list.' All-in-all, the entire job was a great experience and we would not hesitate to contact Deck Tech for other jobs in the future.
It was great. Jack was able to give me exactly what I wanted for a price I was comfortable with.
The installers wereprofessional-very polite and hard working.
Everything was as I had hoped for.
My issues were with the individual that I initially met to discuss the deal and sign the contract. The initial meeting went great. He was punctual and appeared to say all of the right things. Several weeks and months passed by where I was the one following up with the company to get a date on when the deck project would start. I was never given the opportunity to review the permits and was told that day that they arrived on site that the design we discussed had to be changed do to an issue with the soil on our property.
Originally we were going to use the existing brick piers and build 1 additional brick pier. The change in design meant that additional piers were needed and but I was never consulted as to how that would be addressed. I came home to find a mix of brick pier and wood piers. This was unacceptable. We went back and forth on the issue until they finally removed to wood piers and replaced them with brick piers but that cost and additional $200 - $400. There were some other minor issues but the issue with the piers was the most troublesome. Had it been communicated to me before the project started that this would be an issue we could have save time and money in devising an option.
Payment. The website said that they took credit cards and did not indicate that there was any additional charge for a credit card transaction. When I tried to pay by credit card I was told that I needed to add another $500 to the bill if I was going to pay that way. I paid by check but again felt that they could have done a better job communicating up front.
The final product was a very high quality deck but very poor communication from the managers of the company.
Roger stayed in contact from start to finish, often checking in after normal work hours at our request in order accomodate our work schedule. He also stayed in contact via email, and was very responsive to questions we raised, as well as changes we wanted to make during the work. Richie was the actual craftsman, and even though his appearance was that of a biker, he was the politest guy we have ever met, also punctual, hard working and very attentive to detail. A competitor who also bid the job acknowledged (unsolicited) that Richie was currently the best deck craftsman in our area. Price came in at the original bid, even though we did a major change mid-job by adding a second steel beam for support - this also caused a week's delay on the actual bid/work time - but both Roger and Richie were amenable to the changes and the job turned out better than expected. The team was also awesome on post-job follow up.
Highly recommended and will be using them again for other projects in the future.
