The level of service was great. They built a beautiful Trex deck (partially covered and partially with pergola, also with a new patio) and it looks beautiful. The estimates we got were in line with others, so it was a fair price. The owner provided the initial contact point. After that, another employee worked hard to keep us updated on progress - he was polite and professional. They had suggestions that we hadn't thought of that added a lot to the deck. The only negative was that it took a while for them to start given they have a lot of projects in the pipeline, so be patient (it could take longer than the initial estimate). Overall, we couldn't be more happy.

They did not finish the deck until December 23 we got 2 inches of snow that day. When it was warm enough to stain the deck some of the planks were spliting and some of the side framing had not been nailed so they were loose. The salesman said that the wood cracks and splits were normal and he would come by to check on it. It was the next year before anyone came to look at it and some of the planks were splintering, some of the larger suport beems had long splits in them. I was told that Deck Teck stands by their product and would replace the splintered planks but since the splits on the beems did not go all the way through they would not be replaced. He did have someone replace a electric box that controled the lights when the lights all went out. The splintered planks have not been replaced yet. I am sorry I went with wood.

Quality was great, deck builder was a great carpenter. Time to complete was not good at all...takes way too long. Builder was a carpenter by trade and a sub contractor. Very skilled, but no sense of urgency from DeckTech to complete the job. If you want quality and custom work, they will do it and you will pay for it, but it takes way too long.

Went very well, no complaints. The owner, jack, is very easy to work with. Good communication, pricing on par with other places, flexible, and the deck looks gorgeous.

Due to weather their work was really backed up, so they weren't able to start until early June. It took several trips to rip out the old material and measure. Then it took 4 weeks for the new stuff to come in, and several pieces weren't the correct size, so they had to be reordered. I don't believe these delays were the fault of the contractor. The workmen were courteous, neat and professional. We are still waiting for door hardware to arrive and be installed, but already we love the results.

We had some issues with Deck Tech Inc but the overall work was good. They built a beautiful deck, the workmanship is fine. We were trying a new type of wood on the floor and they weren't experienced with it so there was a problem with getting that fixed. Deck Tech did come back to finish it and rectify the issues. They did what we wanted them to do, made suggestions that were helpful, and cleaned up after themselves.

The person that actually built the deck did a wonderful high quality job. He was very good at making suggestions on the look and feel of the deck. We ordered premium wood decking person who was going to build the deck actually sent the wood back twice because it had too many knots.
My issues were with the individual that I initially met to discuss the deal and sign the contract. The initial meeting went great. He was punctual and appeared to say all of the right things. Several weeks and months passed by where I was the one following up with the company to get a date on when the deck project would start. I was never given the opportunity to review the permits and was told that day that they arrived on site that the design we discussed had to be changed do to an issue with the soil on our property.
Originally we were going to use the existing brick piers and build 1 additional brick pier. The change in design meant that additional piers were needed and but I was never consulted as to how that would be addressed. I came home to find a mix of brick pier and wood piers. This was unacceptable. We went back and forth on the issue until they finally removed to wood piers and replaced them with brick piers but that cost and additional $200 - $400. There were some other minor issues but the issue with the piers was the most troublesome. Had it been communicated to me before the project started that this would be an issue we could have save time and money in devising an option.
Payment. The website said that they took credit cards and did not indicate that there was any additional charge for a credit card transaction. When I tried to pay by credit card I was told that I needed to add another $500 to the bill if I was going to pay that way. I paid by check but again felt that they could have done a better job communicating up front.
The final product was a very high quality deck but very poor communication from the managers of the company.

Roger Bergman, co-owner, performed the estimate and supervised the job. They weren't the cheapest (about $500 difference from the lowest bidder) but were the most detailed (and the most honest it turned out) in their bid. I counted this as more important than the minor (relative to the job being done) difference in cost - particularly with the difficulty of the job and having it done correctly for safety since it was on the second story.
Roger stayed in contact from start to finish, often checking in after normal work hours at our request in order accomodate our work schedule. He also stayed in contact via email, and was very responsive to questions we raised, as well as changes we wanted to make during the work. Richie was the actual craftsman, and even though his appearance was that of a biker, he was the politest guy we have ever met, also punctual, hard working and very attentive to detail. A competitor who also bid the job acknowledged (unsolicited) that Richie was currently the best deck craftsman in our area. Price came in at the original bid, even though we did a major change mid-job by adding a second steel beam for support - this also caused a week's delay on the actual bid/work time - but both Roger and Richie were amenable to the changes and the job turned out better than expected. The team was also awesome on post-job follow up.
Highly recommended and will be using them again for other projects in the future.
