The deal I purchased through Angie's list was I believe $1700(?) for a crew for a day. After looking around David realized it would be 2 days. David, Miguel and crew removed 5 or 6 large oaks, a diseased hickory, and many smaller scrubby trees. They ground stumps and cut all the wood in fireplace lengths for us to split later- as I requested. Because he didn't have to haul all the wood away or split it, I was able to have more trees taken down. The crew was fast, efficient and Miguel is amazing in the treetops. This was in 2015 and my barren shady yard is now sunny and grassy.

I've used their services before and have been very pleased in the past. But this time I was unable to get an appointment after three attempts to set up a date. I had purchased the $200 for $400 of tree service coupon. My coupon has now expired. Very disappointed.

I started with an Angie's List Deal for a 5-man crew for 8 hours of tree work. Dave Munoz met with me to look over the job, so I had a good idea of how much they would be able to do in that amount of time. Dave recommended that I also remove a very large (nearly 100 ft) beetle-infested pine that was leaning directly over my house. The house is in a subdivision; the tree was near the property line, and there was no access for a bucket, so it would take a day all by itself, because they would have to cut it down in stages and lower the pieces to the ground. I agreed to add that to the job. The crew showed up when promised. They worked at an astonishing pace for two days. Their topper was an artist who was nothing short of amazing to watch. They were able to remove the 100' pine with no damage to the neighbor's landscaping. They finished the job when they said they would, and removed all debris. The tree work was $4700. I was so impressed with their work that I had them come back and remedy a severe problem I was having with the drainage and grading around my house. Dave walked around the house with me and explained what they would need to do and how they would do it. One unknown was what they would find when they removed an old patio at the back of the house. It turned out that there was a 4' deep hole extending underneath the house that was the source of the humidity (and mold) problem inside the house. The hole was caused by faulty drainage from the adjacent downspout. They filled the hole with gravel. They connected all the downspouts to PVC pipes that they ran underground down the hill away from the house. There is a small deck on one side of the house. They dug the trench underneath the deck by removing (and later replacing) the decking and digging between the joists. Again, I was very impressed at how much they accomplished in a few days. The work was neat and professional, and highly effective. The humidity inside the house went from 71% to 31%. Cost for the drainage work was $7150. I plan to use VA Contracting's services again in the near future to build a garden shed and to landscape a very steep hill in front.

I paid for the work and waited for them to set up an appointment. No one called me in the 30 day period...no phone call or e-mail...therefore, I requested my money to be refunded, and, it was...End of story. I have no idea why they didn't respond.

A crew of four plus two vehicles showed up on time. David was there to supervise. They worked speedily and carefully, cleaning up completely. Also checked knot in tree to see if a water vent could be put in, so water wouldn't sit and rot out tree.

It went very well, except. I had warned them that our backyard got very very wet when we had rain, and couldn't be driven on. I was assured there was no problem they would take steps to handle that. However, they came a day after it had poured and the steps they took didn't work. The put down large sheets of plywood and were putting the heavy equipment on it. It would have worked pretty well if they had been able to keep all four wheels on the plywood. The plywood packed down the sod, well OK it would probably pop back, but where the wheels went off it left deep ruts (of course.) They didn't run the plywood the complete way down to the worksite only in the front side yard and maybe one sheet more, Unfortunately they ran all over the yard with a little loader. It wasn't little enough! So I have ruts all over the back yard. I pointed this out to the workers (I think the Boss had left by then) and he just shrugged). When my husband came how he was livid. It's been nearly a year and I still have ruts. Neither my husband or myself are capable of shoveling. So I guess we will have to live with it. As far as the tree work went, they were great!

The initial consultation went very well. I was a bit disappointed that I would not be able to have the work completed within a day, I decided to overlook that detail. Be careful when you purchase. I chose Mr. Munoz's services because he advertised that he was able to get the work done within one day. Well, that didn't happen. Two weeks passed. In between that time I was able to bag up the leaves on my mother's front lawn. My mother's neighbor cut the grass for free. Beautifying the property as quickly as possible was very important to me as the front lawn had been neglected and I wanted (at least) the front lawn to be presentable. As Mr. Munoz did not deliver what was advertised on Angie's List, I was left with no choice to work from 7 am to 7:30 pm cleaning my Mom's front yard as a 20% chance of rain was forecasted for April 3, 2017. I had concerns that if the weather wasn't conducive to yard work, the start date would again be postponed. The morning of April 3, 2017, I texted Mr. Munoz to determine what time he would be at my mother's home to begin the work. He promptly responded "9 ish." On the very same morning, I had a handyman at my mother's home taking care of a few things, (he arrived at 8am,Home Depot was delivering a refrigerator, dishwasher and oven, Home Depot delivery arrived at 8:30) A few things were percolating the morning Mr. Munoz arrived. Mr. Munoz arrived at 9ish as promised. He and his crew went directly to the yard. I didn't know that they had arrived as Mr. Munoz did not inform me or my mother upon his arrival. I think it's pretty arrogant to march upon someone's property without announcing your arrival. Perhaps that's landscaping protocol? In all the kerfuffle, that was occurring at my mother's Mr. Munoz asked that the vehicles be removed from the driveway so that he and his crews might bring their vehicles onto the lawn to begin their work. Quite honestly I was very surprised at Mr. Munoz request because it was obvious that there were other's seeking to undertake work and all it would have taken was a bit a patience. In response to Mr. Munoz request, I emphatically said to the crew. Last Saturday, I worked my XXX off from 7am to 7:30pm cleaning up this front yard and pointed to the huge Waste Management receptacle that was full of leaves. I then emphatically told Mr. Munoz in the presence of his crew that they would need to be patient just as I was patient in waiting for them to undertake the work. Unfortunately, Mr. Munoz did not like my tone. He respectfully asked to speak to me and said that he did not appreciate my tone and that he would not work under those circumstances and declined the job. I immediately offered the work to the handyman who was on my property and he accepted. I asked that send me a copy of the signed contract between my mother and VA Contractors LLC and requested a refund. Mr. Munoz informed me that it was necessary for me to request a refund directly from Angie's List. I should have know better to pay for a services in full before the service is delivered. Please don't make that mistake. Secondly, If any contractors states that they will get a job done within a day, run for the hills.

To better serve more companies, they should offer smaller truck loads. They were very prompt and professional. The dumped the mulch where I wanted it.

Poorly. Even though I had told David prior to the job that my front yard was totally landscaped and we knew "some" damage would be done, no special effort was made to avoid damage to property. Trunk logs were dropped in approximately 6' sections (due to the size of the trunk I expected 2' sections) and those that did not roll of the yard were drug off with a Bob Cat destroying everything in its path. I have lost hundreds of dollars in plantings when 2' sections could have been rolled off using ramps not evening touching the yard. They worked from 8:30a to approximately 3:30p. I realized that everyone was tired (I was, too, as I worked along with them), but they didn't finish clean up and splitting which I paid for. This mess was left on my neighbor's land. When I call 3/6/17 and asked that the mess be removed, I came home to see that it had been pushed into another part of my landscaped yard. The pile of debris is approximately 4' x 3' x 6'. Do not use this service. I have never experienced such disrespect for someone's property and myself as a client as I have from this company.

There was some mix up in the beginning - but once on the schedule the crew showed up and were ready to work. Listened to all my concerns and provided feedback on trees that should and shouldn't go. Left the property in great shape, extremely professional - it was well worth the price. Thanks

The crew took down all trees safely and without damage to house or shed. The site was cleaned, and no debris was left. VA Contracting even delivered a truck load of wood chips to the owner's country home. The tree trunks remaining were cut level and close to the ground. The crew worked all day and finished the job late afternoon. They certainly earned their money that day.

Once I tracked down the company and scheduled a visit the actual work was scheduled for 30 days later. I contacted the company a day prior to the work after not hearing from them since their visit and was told they would be there the next day. They worked for most of the day and did a very nice job of cleaning up my driveway before leaving. They could have been a bit more diligent in the clean up of my side yard but I am happy with their work. Once again, the biggest problem I had with this company is their communications with me.

It went really well. The crew showed up first thing in the morning and managed to take down 3 huge trees. They mulched what they could and hauled off the rest. I'll definitely have them back this summer to take out the next wave of trees.

David came out and we walked our property and agreed on which trees and services would make the most sense for us. We had some ideas about what needed to be done, but David's input really helped a lot. He gave the quote, set the appointment, and arrived when a little after I expected but well within the timeframe we agreed on. His guys were phenomenal. They did what was expected and WAY more. For example, while the tree trimmer was taking down the large tree, there were extra guys (who would later cut up the wood) who offered to do other work that I did not expect--but REALLY appreciated. Thank you David & Crew!
